187666 tn?1331173345 Hello, Most people with kidney stones will have blood in the urine .The urine may be pink or reddish, or the blood may be visible only with urine dipstick testing or microscopic examination of the urine. In people who do not pass kidney stone lithotripsy is the treatment of choice. It is indicated for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Contact your doctor if the haematuria is persisting. Persistent haematuria can lead to weakness, dizziness and hypotension.
Avatar f tn My question is do any of you see a pain management dr for pain related to kidney stones? Ive gotten stones for the last 18 years but they used to come about anywhere from once or twice a year with one 3 year gap of no stones which was heavenly. Now since novemeber they seem to forming rapidly. Is this any indication that this may continue to be a frequent problem or could this just be a flukish year? My urologist doesn't seem to have any real idea so i was looking for personal experiences.
Avatar m tn If you are referring to Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) , a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure, this is used to treat enlarged prostate BPH that is causing obstruction. Kidney and bladder stones are usually removed through lithotrpsy or litholaplaxy, It is best that you discuss this with your attending physician also for proper management. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn ll kick myself for typing this) I used to suffer from stones every month for the past two years.
Avatar n tn the only thing you can really do to help with preventing seeing me again for more kidney stones is to keep drinking lots of water. Even then, if you're prone to get them you will, but hopefully with the amount of water you're drinking and the Flomax helping too, you'll pass more of the stones you form and pass them more easily too".
Avatar f tn I have been drinking about a half of a glass of lemon juice a day(diluted), and am trying to cut back on my sodium, but want to know what kind of dirt I should follow to prevent more stones. I drink a good amount of water a day already and I am vegetarian(I eat eggs and dairy though). I am worried because it was horrible passing the stone.
Avatar n tn I have to see a urologist, but have to go an hour out of town and still trying to get an appointment set up. I am really worried the kidney stones are bigger. I have been drinking lots of water. I just don't know what to do. I am 24 and never had kidney stones until now. I need some advice.
2143924 tn?1545284130 Hello, For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin (Flomax)to speed the passage of stones. The size and location of ureter stones are the most important factors for predicting the spontaneous passage of the stone. Lithotripsy is a good option for stones 1 cm or less in the kidney and upper ureter. Consult a nephrologist for more queries and assistance. Hope it helped. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn There are different types of kidney stones and it depends which type you have , will also help you to avoid getting future kidney stones by avoiding certain types of foods. Hope it comes out soon with the minimal of discomfort.
Avatar m tn It showed one +4mm kidney stones in my kidney. All my bloodwork and urine were fine. Was put on Flomax and told to screen my urine. All through the next two weeks i had constant pain in my left groin area but also had bursts of travelling pain from my kidney to my groin. Passed two smaller stones and several fragments. pain was increasing in my groin and started having nausea.

Avatar f tn Hi, My suggestion is to go the hospital. Kidney stones are not something that is easily managed even on narcotics. The longer you wait the worse it gets. How do you know he has a kidney stone?
656452 tn?1332783935 Thank you for your reply. Update: I had a follow up CT Scan and the stone is still there unchanged. The CT Scan reveals it may be cystine and highly unlikely to be uric acid. My Uro is sending me for a KUB X-ray to get a better idea what options we have to treat it. It's about 3 weeks today since first symptoms. All prior stones were calcium oxalate or calcium phosphorus.
Avatar f tn I've been having pain for 2 weeks that's been like my other kidney stones. I've had several surgerys to have them removed in the past so I know what I'm feeling. I went to my urologist today and he told me it's a 2mm stone in my kidney and shouldn't be causing pain. So why am I experiencing pain and was able to know it was a stone? Also I haven't been prescribed anything to help with it except narcotics for the pain. No flomax or anything. I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn Kidney stones are mega painful!!!
Avatar n tn The pressure is in the front, which usually happens after the stone has passed from my kidney to my bladder. What is worrying me is I have never passed 2 stones this close together. It has also never taken me longer than a week to pass a stone that has moved to the bladder. How likely is it that a stone could take weeks to pass if it has already moved from the kidney to the bladder?
Avatar f tn Hello, Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist to determine the type of stone. Treatment modes include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneoud nephrolithotomy but it depends on the size of the stone. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces.
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks and have history of kidney stones prior to pregnancy. I currently have them, yes plural. They're awful and no one should experience them, especially during pregnancy. I'm sure you're on flomax and an antibiotic? Also, the only thing that seems to remotely help are hot baths. My doctor informed me that if we can make it through this, labors a breeze.
Avatar f tn Yes, when I have a stone or stones, I'll have a much more frequent urge to urinate than when I don't have a stone. I've also experienced a very slight burning sensation at times with a stone too. Are you on anything like Flomax? I've noticed a more frequent urge since I've been taking Flomax too. Not sure if that's the Flomax, or just my age coming into play.LOL!
Avatar m tn If that is correct, why are you taking Flomax? This is usually given to men to help them to pass urine when they have a prostate problem. Has the doctor prescribed you with this? Don't drink more than the 3 litres because it is dangerous to drink too much. If you are having the low abdomen pressure, I would suggest you get yur urine checked for Cystitis. Unfortunately, I had to retire on ill-health grounds at the age of 40, I will be 61 in April.
Avatar m tn But still how would I save myself to have such horrible tragedies? as kidney stones can develop further involving a genetic risk.
Avatar m tn It could be kidney stones, a urinary tract infection, kidney infection, bladder infection, or tears/abrasions to any of the above (kidney, bladder or urinary tract.) Blood in the urine is the symptom of something that is likely much more serious.
Avatar m tn Emerg visit this month showed (big surprise) on CT, two left kidney stones 2-3 mm, one in kidney and one between bladder and kidney. This is the first time CT has been done laying on stomach. If part of this has been kidney stones all along, why might I be getting severe abdominal bloat with these episodes? I have not passed stone yet (week 3) but put on Flomax 3 days ago and bloat seems to be reducing. Thanks for your suggestions.
Avatar f tn t know for sure what was wrong with me so he made me an appointment with a urologist and he also gave me a couple weeks of flomax for my symptoms just in case I had kidney stones.
895634 tn?1283989210 They will perform some tests to determine what type of stones you may have, how many and how large your kidney stones are. A KUB (kidney, ureter, bladder) x-ray is usually given to see the stone's location and estimate their size. Also you mentioned you had an MRI recently. If it was an MRI of the abdomen, the stones would have been seen in the MRI. If they are small and can pass then a pain killer to help you pass the stones is appropriate.
Avatar f tn For kidney pain you may take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug such as ibuprofen or naproxen .Few doctors also recommend Tamsulosin (Flomax) to speed the passage of stones. A person with a larger stone, or one which blocks urine flow and associated with pain, may need more urgent treatment. Consult. Early diagnosis and treatment will be helpful. This is only an advice and not a substitute for clinical examination. a nephrologist for more queries and assistance . I hope it helps.
