Avatar m tn What do the lines look like and are they colored? If you have fingernail fungus the topicals don't work. You would have to take a prescription oral drug (Lamisil) for three months then it kills the nail. I just went through this with my toe nail. The nail is usually yellowish.
Avatar m tn He prescribed a urea nail stick to aid with the fungus like matter under the fingernail. I keep it trimmed back to allow for new nail growth, but it gets to a certain point and develops this gross looking end to it. Any idea why it's taking so long for the nail to regenerate, or is this an indication of a possible underlying cause?
Avatar n tn Injury to nail due to trauma it self can cause the features described. With out a fungus test, woods lamp done, not safe to give internal antifungals.
Avatar f tn Cut off the loose nail portion close to the skin without cutting into the skin. A pair of fingernail nippers or fingernail scissors work best. Then brush on pure tea tree oil a couple of times a day.
1838518 tn?1318726354 Well I've had opinions, cancer wasnt ruled out, however when I had a broncosphy in Jan 2011 it did show Candida fungus on the right upper lobe. I did have an ER dr tell me how rare it was and I havent been out of the states. Regarding your friend did they tell her what kinda of fungus it was? There is some relief if its candida. However I've found majority of Dr really are clueless on curin it. So I've sought relief thru herbs and such.
Avatar f tn I have no heart problems, no ashma or lung problems. I have asked all my doctors but nobody can tell me why this is happening or what can be done about it. What next?
Avatar m tn A brown or black dot or streak under a toenail or fingernail could be a blood clot, fungus infection, or possibly a skin cancer. Hence get it examined under a dermatoscope from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn Well since the last time i wrote my daddy has been through an awful lot. He was brought back to the hospital with double pnemion and was getting no better they did a lung biopsy through his nasal passage and then the waiting game began. He was sent to a rehabilation center only to be brought back to the hospital in 2 days this time they admitted him into ICU. That was 2 wks ago.
Avatar m tn Hi I just want to know what can cause some or all of these combined symptoms, Hair thinning, lost of appetite, a few dark toenails but not all of them, 1 fingernail half light pink half light brown with vertical lines no ridges, wart on ball of both feet and lately some lost of taste (I'm thinking due to thin white film on tongue) I was a Severe smoker until recently when I stopped.
1838518 tn?1318726354 How do you get a Lung Dr & GP to listen to you? They just blow me off saying I have COPD because I smoke, however in Jan 2011 thru a CAT scan and Feb 2011 thru bronscopy the 3.5 inch mass on my upper right lobe revealed candia fungus. I was treated with fungal med for 3 days and thats it. I had severe shortness of breath suddenly hit me since 2008 and foreward. I researched the fungus and ratically changed my diet to follow the candia diet.
Avatar f tn I believe it will work itself out. It is caused by a fungus. If it is the same there will be scarring of the lung tissue. I developed asthma from my experience. However my case is different. A lymph node calcified against my windpipe causeing the artery going into my right lung to be cut off. I am learning how to live with that. I control my asthma symptoms with natural remedies, so no drug expense. It took like two months for my body to fight off what this fungus was doing.
565779 tn?1216513164 five years ago, now I have a foot fungus and toe/fingernail fungus. I have also been finding these tiny black things, the size of a pinhead all over my skin, some are even going into my fingernails, as well as my skin. Is this another type of fungus, or do I have some strange bug inside of me? Also does anyone notice a gross odor from the nail fungus? Are people with Hep. C prone to fungi infections?
Avatar n tn My baby sister is in ICU, on life support (intubation) the doctors say there is something wrong with her lungs but all tests come clean of fungus, bacteria, viruses. Her lungs are swollen, they can't do a biopsy of her lung because she is too weak, she is on 100% oxygen and she has gone all the way to only receiving 20%. The doctors are stumped they don't know what to do. They want to send her to a research clinic but she is to weak even to get a cat scan.
Avatar n tn firstly, most likely it is not cancer but rather a "mucocele", which is basically a saliva filled bubble. they are common. If you get another one, go to your dentist and have him or her look at it if not for anything else than to reassure you. secondly, contemplate how scared you are about cancer, and think about this--- smoking kills people. it gives people lung cancer. when you are given a diagnosis of lung cancer, you're most often dead within a few years, if not months.
505958 tn?1210611657 A granuloma of the lung is not cancer. Granulomas are very common. It is a scar, from a lung infection that she had sometime in the past, most often an infection with a fungus or with tuberculosis. It may never go away and that is OK because, like any scar, it is nothing to worry about. In many instances, calcium, as found in bone, may deposit or accumulate in a granuloma and that is further evidence of the benign nature of the lesion.
Avatar m tn They look whitish and when I scrape them off with a paper towel or my fingernail it is not red or bleeding underneath. It feels like skin when I scrape it out and touch it with my fingers. Does this sound like thrush? Does thrush feel like skin when touched? My mouth has been excessively dry for the past year, I have to sip water constantly and chew sugar free gum. Could it just be caused by the dry mouth? I tested negative for HIV a year ago on rapid tests.
Avatar n tn So about 2 weeks ago (after putting a cuticle out) the base of my fingernail got infected its red and swollen doesnt hurt much but when i touch it, then about a week ago i began to have these little white bumps on my finger tips they very in size but none bigger than 1/16in, they have now sped to some of my palm, they have no liquid in them they are only white and they open easly when scrached but they do not itch or hurt, my guess is i touched something im aleric to but i have never really been
Avatar m tn No apparent necrosis, but the fingernail has separated and also *appears* to be infected with fungus. She has had IV antibiotics twice as well as antibiotic and antifungal pills, and it was non-responsive to the drugs. Tested negative for MRSA. Finger hurts and is pinkish-red. It is dry with no discharge.
Avatar n tn one of them had the same width as the others, but was about three times as long. i was able to remove two of them with my fingernail, they looked like little black pepper flakes. i was able to get most of the long one, but a cant get the remaining particle, and the fourth one seemed to be imbedded. the pthers easily popped out with a little jostling.
Avatar f tn In order to find out if you have histo is to ask the doctor that did the cultures and/or biopsy which fungus it is. 1.Yes Histoplasma is inhaled. 2.Yes it does go to the lung and the lymph nodes get activated that you have a new infection. 4. It rarely goes beyond the lung and lymph node. It does get into the blood but if you don't have lowered immunity it gets killed by your immune system. Then it will stay in the lung and you may or may not have symptoms. 5.
