Fetal development viability

Common Questions and Answers about Fetal development viability

fetal-development

Avatar f tn After the first ultrasound, I was told there was not enough development to determine viability. Again, 10 days later, same story, but sac growth. I just want to see if anyone else has dealt with something like this. If the fetus is dead, I want my body to give up and send it on its way already. If it's not, show me something. I'm not excited about this pregnancy. I really just want this to be over with. I'm tired of waiting... and no one can give me and answer just more waiting.
Avatar f tn Doctors will often use the quantitative blood test if they are closely monitoring the development of a pregnancy but above a level of about 6,000 mIU/ml that makes no sense because at this point a sonogram provides better information about the pregnancy. One single hCG value does not tell you much about the viability of the pregnancy and there is a wide range of normal hCG levels in pregnancy.
Avatar f tn i was asked to come back in two weeks for a viability scan and see if the yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat are all there. whew!!!! two weeks is too long for me to wait! i can hardly sleep now and i feel like the pregnancy symptoms are beginning to go away..i am getting paranoid i guess. HELP!
Avatar f tn and ask us to come after two weeks to check the viability..what does that mean..after how many weeks after finding gestational sac one caan see heartbeat..they prescribed me folic acid..is everything normal..and more over i dont even have a single symptom...what does it mean to check the viability..does any of you had a similar experience?
Avatar f tn You need a scan in about 3 weeks for fetal age and viability and blood test for baseline labs. Too early for any fetal surveillance.
1143259 tn?1282963865 I am 42 years old and was informed today by my gynecologist that I am pregnant. However, the ultrsound did not reveal a fetal pole. I will return to find out on monday if everything is ok with the pregnancy. Does anyone know the percentages of ultrasounds that initially reveal no indication of a fetal pole only to discover a normal fetus a week or so later. I was told I am about 6 weeks pregnant. However, I believe its more like 3 to 4 weeks.
2100150 tn?1340631609 I would wait until at least 6 weeks. At 4 weeks, very little can be seen, a sac etc is about all that's seen. It's not until at least 6 weeks that fetal pole and heartbeat can be detected so you're best waiting till after that point. At 4 weeks, because very little can be seen anyway I think it would only worry you more. At that stage, because a fetal pole etc can't be detected then you don't know the viability of a pregnancy, so you're better waiting.
623156 tn?1322865851 From 12 weeks to 27 weeks the fetus continues developing and reaches viability. From 27 weeks on the fetus finishes development and prepares for delivery. Here the second trimester begins at 12w 0d and the third at 27w 0d. Gestation: With this method you take the 40 weeks of gestation and divide by three. Here the second trimester begins at 13w 3d and the third at 26w 6d. Conception: This method is where you take the 38 weeks of post conception development, divide by three, and add two weeks.
Avatar f tn I'm so nervous for it. A year and a half ago, I was pregnant and went in for my viability ultrasound, and they found that my fetal pole was deformed. Baby wasn't getting a lot of nutrients, and over the weeks, grew very slowly. Ultimately, it was pneumonia and a viral infection that caused me to lose my baby at 13 weeks, but I digress. Tomorrow is my viability ultrasound for this most recent pregnancy. I am 7 weeks today. I'm just so nervous that I will get bad news again.
Avatar f tn I went for an ultrasound and was measuring 5 weeks 4 days and the heartbeat was 98bpm. My doctor said the baby implanted low in my uterus and scheduled me back for fetal viability. I went again yesterday for my 8 week ultrasound. The US tech first measured my uterus and everything. My husband said he looked at the baby for less than a minute and that the baby had grew a substantial amount and he could see red and blue light up but not sure if it was from me or the baby.
Avatar f tn Well ladies...today's the day...I have my f/u u/s to check viability...the 1st u/s was done at 5w4d and showed us the gestational sac & yolk sac...I've been taking progesterone supplements for about a week b/c they said that my level was only 17.7 and they like it to be a little higher...they're hoping to see a fetal pole & heart beat today...SO AM I!!! well I'll keep you all posted either way...wish me luck!!!! Appointment is at 1130this morning...I'm nervous!
Avatar f tn The fetal heart undergoes a considerable amount of growth very early in pregnancy. The most critical period of its development is between three and seven weeks after fertilization, when a simple heart tube assumes the shape of a four-chambered heart. In fact, the heart actually begins beating by the 22nd day of life.
Avatar f tn m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? I would really appreciate it if you can help.

Avatar f tn I always have to take progesterone with my pregnancies. I did a level check last week and mine went up but did not double but the nurse reassured me that it was OK because the numbers stop doubling after like 10 thousand or so. I hope everything goes well in your sono. I have one on Friday I am nervous because I have had 3 mc in the last 2 yrs.
Avatar n tn First u/s and blood test on 9/24. The u/s showed a sac and yolk but no fetal pole. HCG level 28,100. 2nd u/s on 10/6. The u/s showed a sac, yolk and now “a group of cells which is the baby” (they did not use the term “fetal pole” and I’m not sure if it is the same thing or not). But now there was no hb detected. A midwife told me there was a “100% chance” my HCG levels would come back lower. My HCG level came back at 48,100. At both appts baby termed “non viable”.

Avatar f tn It could be implantation bleeding. Ask for an ultrasound for viability just to see. I miscarried during the 6th week once and I had a great deal of pain and heavy bright red blood.
Avatar f tn You need urgent medical help. A clinical examination and ultrasound abdomen will help in determining fetal position, viability and gestational age. Do consult a gynecologist before conceiving again as it might prove risky for your health. Write to us again. Best of luck and regards!
Avatar f tn It might be too early. What did the your doctor say on this?
