Avatar f tn Hello Dear, Klippel-fiel Syndrome is caused by a failure in the normal segmentation of the cervical vertebrae during the early weeks of fetal development. Features include a short neck, restricted mobility of the upper spine and a low hairline. Any of the cervical vertebrae can be involved but the commonest fusion is of C2,3 Clinical presentation is varied because of the many associated syndromes and anomalies that can occur.
Avatar f tn My question=Today the nurse called and said by CTScan of the Abdomen showed Dilation of the Renal System. I do not know what this mean, please help.
Avatar f tn The fetal heart undergoes a considerable amount of growth very early in pregnancy. The most critical period of its development is between three and seven weeks after fertilization, when a simple heart tube assumes the shape of a four-chambered heart. In fact, the heart actually begins beating by the 22nd day of life.
Avatar n tn The brain contains pockets or spaces called ventricles with a spongy layer of cells and blood vessels called the choroid plexus. This is in the middle of the fetal brain. The choroid plexus has the important function of producing a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid. The fluid produced by the cells of the choroid plexus fills the ventricles and then flows around the brain and the spinal cord to provide a cushion of fluid around these structures.
Avatar f tn I personally think it's selfish and foolish to drink during pregnancy. Your putting your baby's health at risk and fetal development during the first trimester is crucial. Any alcohol use during pregnancy can result in a child being born with FASD. To me it's not worth the risks.
Avatar f tn re full of folic acid (critical to fetal brain and nervous-system development) and vitamin B6 (which might help ease morning sickness). 3. Eggs: they deliver one of the best sourxes of protein, a key building block of baby's cells. 4. shrimp: these swimmers are a low-mercury source of healthy omega-3 fats, vital to your little one's brain and eye growth. 5. low-fat greek yogurt: you'll typically get more protein than regular yogurt and bone-building calcium.
Avatar f tn I had a Abdominal CTScan, the results was dilatition of the renal system. I have no idea what this means. My doctor appointment is not until 2 weeks. Can anyone please help?
179856 tn?1333547362 Gordon, MD, Clinical Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine, studied 67,063 individual tested for HCV between 1997 and 2006 at Henry Ford Hospital and who were followed up for the development of RCC until April 2008. Of these subjects, 3,047 (4.6%) were HCV positive. RCC was diagnosed in 17 (0.6%) of these subjects compared with 177 (0.3%) of the 64,006 HCV-negative individuals.

I would really appreciate it if you can help.
Avatar f tn How are you? Gadolinium's worst side effect is the development of a debilitating, and sometimes deadly, disease called nephrogenic systemic fibrosis or nephrogenic fibrosing dermopathy in people with impaired renal function. But there have been anecdotal reports of people with no known kidney problems developing NSF/NFD after gadolinium use.
Avatar m tn They do not have any long term studies to show the effects on fetal development. My current dr says the same thing, when pg stay clear of it as possible.
Avatar f tn If there was one kidney, the fluid would be normal. Proper amounts of fluid are needed for proper lung development. Chronically low fluid leads to pulmonary hypoplasia which is underdeveloped lungs. Sorry, it cannot reverse itself. Only other diagnosis which I can think of is that your membranes ruptured and the fluid leaked out. Seeing the kidneys at 14 weeks with transabdominal ultrasound is difficult. The bladder can usually be seen though.
Avatar f tn bladder and liquor appeared normal. right renal pelvis measured 0.4cms and left renal pelvis measured 0.3 cms and estimated fetal weight according to BPD, HC,AC, FL:-224+/ -22.
Avatar m tn There are preferred opiates drugs that are use in patients with liver disease that have shorter half-lives and have less harmful side effects on the renal system. Your liver doctor should be aware of these drugs and be able to determine if you may be able to use them. With regards to OTC medications, normal recommended doses of acetaminophen can be safely given to patients who suffer from cirrhosis in the short term.
Avatar m tn Early complications of cardiac insufficiency include renal vasoconstriction and the development of sodium and water retention, which are hallmarks of the very early stages of congestive heart failure. Heart failure is a physiologically delicate condition in which therapy is designed to block the sodium retention and simultaneously interrupt excessively activated neurohumoral mechanisms.
Avatar m tn a drug or other substance capable of interfering with the development of a fetus, causing birth defects.
Avatar f tn Hi! Yes, that is too early to see a fetal pole or cardiac activity. In ten days, you should see a nice change with development of a little "grain of rice" with a tiny flickering heart beat. I wish you the best!
Avatar n tn If you break embryonic and fetal development into thirds then when you are in your 28th week the baby begins its final third of development. (Gestation is 266 days or 38 weeks of development). So either way you look at it you are in your 3rd trimester!
