Common Questions and Answers about Fetal development of multiple births

fetal-development

Avatar f tn m twenty-four and have been pregnant six times now (all by my husband so please no negative or derogatory comments). We had two live births, but only have one child living. We are now anxiously awaiting the birth of what I feel is our daughter. My question is if you've been pregnant before did you feel fetal movement very early on? I mean I'm thirteen weeks along and I swear she must be doing flips in there.
Avatar f tn Stuck with my midwife. OBs are trained for medical births and midwives are trained in natural births. Two pretty different worlds. Both have their place. Both are needed. You have to do what you are comfortable with. The documentary is good education for women that only listen to their doctors.
Avatar f tn Water labor is great but water birth has been deemed unsafe. Not enough monitoring of fetal heart rate. I was debating on it at first.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the helpful and encouraging information. We are all excited about the twins - this will make 8 grandchildren for us!
Avatar n tn The brain contains pockets or spaces called ventricles with a spongy layer of cells and blood vessels called the choroid plexus. This is in the middle of the fetal brain. The choroid plexus has the important function of producing a fluid called cerebrospinal fluid. The fluid produced by the cells of the choroid plexus fills the ventricles and then flows around the brain and the spinal cord to provide a cushion of fluid around these structures.
Avatar f tn Oh and breech duh, and multiple births. Depends on your provider if they'll "allow" you to birth breech or twins/triplets vaginally.
Avatar f tn I am 8 wks preagnant this is my 7th preagnancy with no live births. I have had vaginal ultrasounds every week and everything was normal. They saw and heard a heart beat at 6 wks. That is till today I wen't in for my wkly visit at 8 wks and the doctor couldn't find a heartbeat at first then he saw it was faint he said. What are my chances for this pregnancy to have a good outcome? The doctor put me on bed rest till I see him next week. Please help !!!!
Avatar f tn I personally think it's selfish and foolish to drink during pregnancy. Your putting your baby's health at risk and fetal development during the first trimester is crucial. Any alcohol use during pregnancy can result in a child being born with FASD. To me it's not worth the risks.
Avatar f tn The fetal heart undergoes a considerable amount of growth very early in pregnancy. The most critical period of its development is between three and seven weeks after fertilization, when a simple heart tube assumes the shape of a four-chambered heart. In fact, the heart actually begins beating by the 22nd day of life.
Avatar f tn Other factors that can increase your chances of having twins include having a maternal family history of multiple births (fraternal), and of course, using fertility treatments (in vitro fertilization or fertility drugs).
Avatar f tn Oh wow. What is thrombosis of the fetal stem vessels? Thank you for your help.
Avatar f tn m 6 weeks pregnant at the moment and i thought everything was going find until i got a call from my hospital telling me they needed to schedule me for an earlier appointment because when reviewing my ultrasounds they saw a problem with the fetus development. does anyone have any idea what this can mean? I would really appreciate it if you can help.
Avatar f tn Multiple births. IVF increases the risk of multiple births if more than one embryo is implanted in your uterus. A pregnancy with multiple fetuses carries a higher risk of early labor and low birth weight than pregnancy with a single fetus does. Premature delivery and low birth weight. Research suggests that use of IVF slightly increases the risk that a baby will be born early or with a low birth weight. Miscarriage.
Avatar m tn They do not have any long term studies to show the effects on fetal development. My current dr says the same thing, when pg stay clear of it as possible.
Avatar f tn These aneurysms are thought to belong to the neural crest defect category of embryonic anomalies. At a very early stage of embryonic development, before the head and chest differentiated, there was some type of connective tissue defect in the area of the neural crest. These types of problems most likely are genetically mediated. Research is ongoing.
Avatar f tn My only advice is make sure you midwife is competent! Really do some research on her. I have read too many scares that put a black mark on midwives and homebirths. The mws here are regulated by the gov, so they have to be very competent. They also don't take ANY risks. Breech babies, cord prolapse, pushing too long, any sort of fetal distress its a straight hospital transfer. I'm less than 5 min from the hospital so I felt very comfortable having a home water birth.
Avatar f tn I have recently read some articles that say clomid can increase your chances of having multiple birth pregnancies. Is there any truth to this and if so, does anyone have any statistics about the chances of getting pregnant with more than one baby?
Avatar n tn Anyone else been diagnosed with Fetal Macrosomia? Did you go into labor naturally? Was it early? Did you induce or choose to schedule a c-section? I won't do Pitocin again. I want to try for a VBAC, but I'm almost tempted to just schedule a c-section because I'm so uncomfortable. I'd love to hear about what other people did in this situation.
