535089 tn?1400673519 FDAAA also authorizes FDA to require holders of certain drug applications approved without a REMS to submit a proposed REMS if the agency becomes aware of new safety information and makes a determination that a REMS is necessary to ensure the benefits of the drug outweigh its risks. Opioid drugs have benefit when used properly and are a necessary component of pain management for certain patients. Opioid drugs have serious risks when used improperly.
Avatar f tn Hi there, My doctor of 10 years recently closed his practice and referred me to see a new pain specialist. However, the new doctor is not registered with TIRF REMS to be able to prescribe Actiq that I have been taking for 9 years. I am post stage 3 breast cancer, double mastectomy, peripheral neuropathy and lymphedema to name a few of my issues not to mention I have tried every opiod on the market and I'm also opiod tolerant.
624839 tn?1221807899 I am currently battling Recurrent Ewing's Sarcoma and to manage the pain I am on Fentora (Fentanyl Buccal tablets). No matter how drowsy this medication makes me sleep just doesn't exist with me. I was curious to know if anyone knew if I would be able to take Fentora and another medication containing Diphenhydramine to help me gain sleep as well. I have spoken to my Dr.
Avatar n tn There is now oral Fentanyl in a dissolvable tablet called Fentora but it is indicated only for cancer pain. However, there are a few patients with chronic non-cancer pain that have been prescribed Actiq (the fentanyl lolipops) or Fentora if and only if all other treatments failed and they are experiencing intractable pain, also known as suicide pain.
Avatar m tn As long as your getting your REMS which is usually 2 hrs into sleep you will wake up feeling refreshed. I sometimes get 2 hrs, 4 hrs..It's the Quality of sleep that matters not the quantity of sleep..
Avatar m tn Simvastatin 20 mg(1T QD), Diazepam 10 mg(1T TID), Opana ER 40 mg(1T BID), Atenolol 100 mg(1T QD), Lunesta 3 mg(1T HS), Cymbalta 60 mg(1C BID), Fentora 800 mcg(1T BID PRN), Fentanyl Citrate 1200 mcg(One lollipop QID PRN). He was OK for a couple of months but yesterday he started acting weird again. Slurred speech(more than usual), lack of balance, forgetfulness, etc. How can I prevent future episodes from happening? Please I need help.
Avatar f tn Been through every test(mri, catscan, mra, ekg, eeg, emg, etc.) including a sleep test which said my REMs were normal, but I fell asleep in less then 3 minutes each time( during the nap phase) and had no idea how long I slept...so narcolepsy was ruled out. But they told me to take my regular sleep aide before I went to bed that night andthen was told it could have screwed up my REMS.

Avatar m tn I very recently moved to Gainesville, FL from CA, where I had an excellent pain management doctor. Prior to moving, I found a Dr. here in FL whom I believed would continue my pain meds. My prior doc did send a re ferral and very min. documentation. Found out the hard way that this area has Suboxone pushing doctors and are much more concerned about losing their license. I have an extremely high opioid tolerance and have been on almost every kind of pain meds in the past.

Avatar f tn Between the pain and the doctors that dish the news and walk away. I am on oral fentora which is a form of your drug and I am in constant pain also. Which makes everything even harder. They thought I had lupus and I didn't they were sure, and actually I was relieved to know there would be a name and hopefully a treatment to get me out of pain . I know that sounds very bad , but somehow with a name to a disease everyone treats you differently.
478387 tn?1210762308 Find a great pain management doctor, one that understands the depth of your pain. I know how excruciating the pain can be! I am on oxycontin and fentora (for breakthrough pain), after many trial and errors on other medications. The drug therapy will at least let you function as an individual. Things that work: 1. Massage your head. Sounds wierd but it helps. 2. Pain meds. Take them when you are in pain. 3. Rest, rest, and more rest. The more excercise, the worse the headache. 4.
Avatar n tn fentora, oxyliquid, fentanel patch. perscribed through a pain management doctor. There is not much follow up with the new medicine and I wonder if all of this is good. I'm wondering should I stop the paxil and buspar and go back to lexapro?
Avatar n tn Most meds (excluding fentanyl) are a lot less potent in pill form. There is also Fentora, which is a dissolvable film of ultra short acting fentanyl but has also been FDA approved for treatment of BT cancer pain. I think that excluding so many that have chronic intractable pain from using ultra short-acting opioids was very inappropriate.
Avatar n tn 800mg Fentora 6x/dayand 100mg morphine extended release 3x/day.which would be the safest way to take Suboxone.
Avatar n tn we dont believe more in quimiotherapy, we like like to tried other opcion, we was this week to the hospital and they given to him 3000ml a day fluid continuo and them he star to have retencion fluid, they give to him that same medication in home taked HYDROCODONEoral,FENTANYL parch, FENTORA oral, and OXIMORPHONE e.v. img every 1 hr.
Avatar f tn The PM he had was giving him 80mg oxicontin 3 a day, fentora 800ms 3 a day, 15mg morphine sulfate 3 a day 15mg oxycodone 2 per day. He gave them a sample and that is when the methadone was found...we assume he got my pills by mistake but her office manager did not care and would not allow us to talk to the PM DR! To this day we still can not talk to her. Anyone know how we can? Anyway that was Thanksgiving.

765775 tn?1366024691 FDA May Remove or Limit Access to Opioid Pain Medications The FDA is currently developing what they term “Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies” or REMS in relation to opioid pain medications. What that means is they are working on a plan to ensure that the benefits of opioid medications outweigh the risks, which include misuse, abuse and accidental overdose. It's no secret that the abuse of prescription drugs has increased dramatically over the past several years.
Avatar f tn The FDA and the DEA said that their REMS program to reduce prescription drug abuse would not cause doctors to shy away from prescribing opioid medications...the were WRONG. Life is so very short and most of us can't do much of NOTHING without our medication; hence, life just passes us by. We don't get that time back...it is gone forever. Avatar n tn I am now on oxycontin and fentora (for breakthrough pain). I have a wonderful pharmacist that explained exactly what you said -"if you are in pain you won't become addicted." I can function through life now I am on the meds. I know the headache is there, but it is more pressure than pain, and believe me, I know when the medication has worn off. 3. Rest, rest, and more rest!! The more excercise, the worse the headache.
1006065 tn?1251478669 Have been on Fentanyl patches (100mcg) for 3 years for neuropathy of both feet/legs and fingers (thank You diabetes type 2). Put them behind each shoulder abd also use Fentora 800mcg for breakthrough pain, but it doesn't always work depending on what type of pain it is (ie: Fentanyl will not stop a toothache). I stopped taking it for 3 days and the pain that came back was beyond what I'd felt ever before and practically ate the patch to get it on to start working.
Avatar m tn The only thing that helps me because of malabsorption is ACTIQ (Fentanyl Citrate OTC) or Fentora. Recently Medicare will not give me prior authorization since i do not have cancer. I can not afford to pay for it out of pocket. I can't eat, sleep or have any quality of life. IF ANYONE CAN HELP I WOULD BE EXTREMELY GRATEFUL.
Avatar f tn I think it is rare but I came off of dilaudid. It was a b****ch. Fentanyl was worse. I was using fentora loz and patches. Why did your doc just stop your meds? He should know its going to kick your ***. But congradulations on making it this far.
