They are now drying out but I still have tingling feeling. I visited doctor who suggested possible genital herpes and put me on famciclovir. I'm just wondering how I might have contracted this. I have only ever had one sexual partner for the past twenty years. Is it likely my husband may have cheated. Have had no suspicions of this but very worried. Can the virus really lay dormant for 20 years?
Just 1 week before sexual exposure, I had finished taking Famciclovir 250mg for HSV-1 outbreak. And it cured.
After 123 days(4 months) from last risky sexual exposure and 130 days from FAMCICLOVIR completion, I took HSV2(IGM and IGG) test and it turned out negative. I did not got any symptoms on genital area.
Can I consider this as confirmatory for HSV-2 in my body?
Should I need to go for more test? if so when to take the test? It is 4 months now completed from risk.
Hi, genital herpes can cause persisting symptoms of pain. Genital herpes is caused by Herpes simplex type I &II . The virus can lie dormant and can get reactivated at intervals producing symptoms. Hence there is no permanent cure. But antiviral medications like acyclovir, valacyclovir and famciclovir are known to shorten outbreaks and improve symptoms. I have had oral sex with my partner who has Genital Herpes 2 and I thought we did everything 'right' in preventing it being passed on to me. He hasn't had it for some time. A week ago i got some painful lumps and swollen glands on my genitals, my GP said it was caused by simplex herpes virus, i was given a medication famciclovir after a week of taking it i has gone better. I have been reasonably well and have had few relapses. About a year ago I was dianosed with genital herpes and have had two episodes since diagnosis too. I have no idea when I contracted this and I have read that it could have been lying dormant in my system for years possibly. I have some questions NOT including whether the herpes could have caused my MS as I have both conditions and there's not much I can do about that.
Famvir and famciclovir are the same thing, as are Valtrex and Valacyclovir. One is the brand name, one is the generic.
I'd stay on the valacyclovir. The last thing you need right now is another outbreak, and stopping antivirals can trigger an ob.
I can't advise you on the amiltriptiline. If it's not working, maybe you shouldn't continue it, but PLEASE talk to your doctor before stopping it.
t believe this matters at all, because it is impossible that you caught HSV-2 during the lap dance. If at any time in your life you develop genital herpes or a positive HSV-2 test, it will not be from that event. But if you really feel you need to have another test to rule it out, wait until about 3 months after finishing the famciclovir treatment.

I looked it up on my phone and saw that this is medication for genital herpes. I am now freaking out because i performed oral and had unprotected sex. I'm also scared of HIV since she lied when I asked her if she had anything. I have felt some periodic burning in my groin and the tip of my penis.

So there's my story. I will give you as much details as I remember. I haven't had story of cold sore in my life. 5 years ago, I was with a guy (my boyfriend of the time). He didn't performed oral sex on me, but I had performed oral sex on him. We didn't have sex together. One day, it appeared 1 vesicule on each side of the labia minora (entrance of the vagina).
The hallmark of genital herpes is genital lesions which go quickly (over a few hours) from bumps to small blisters which then burst to become shallow ulcers. These sorts of lesions can be associated with varying amounts of discomfort in the area of the lesions.
The clinical presentations of herpes however are highly variable. For that reason testing of possible lesions is recommended.

I will answer your questions with general answers. Unfortunately, neither viruses nor humans follow "rules" quite as well as we'd all like. In general genital herpes due to HSV 1 is milder with fewer recurrences and less asymptomatic shedding that genital herpes due to HSV-2. In addition, it is unusual, but not unheard of for a person with HSV-1 to acquire it "back" from a partner at another site.
When you take it 250mg 2x/day every single day, it helps to prevent recurrences of your herpes. if you are having monthly recurrences of your herpes, you should be on daily suppressive therapy to help you have less recurrences. it'll also help to protect a partner from contracting hsv2 from you also.
There is no cure for herpes. You may take acyclovir, valacyclovir or famciclovir, all available by prescription.
