Avatar f tn Has anyone tried a clinical trial. I am presently on one. Too early to know if it is helping.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of the P2938-0721 Pharmasset Clinical Trial? Any info appreciated! Also, is there a post or list of questions to ask if one is considering going into a clinical trial? Thanks!
789911 tn?1368636783 They took several vials of blood and are going to do a fibrosure test and a hepa score test among some other tests. I am looking into doing a clinical trial with a 3rd drug added to the standard treatment called mk7009 by merck. They also gave me 3 others to consider such as R05024048 by pharmaset roche (sp) and bms790052 from bristol myers squibb. Also something called Filibuvier as third additives to look into. .
Avatar f tn Hi. The survival rate depends on what specific treatment was used in the clinical trial, and what organ the squamous cell carcinoma originated from (e.g. lung, head and neck, skin, unknown primary site, etc.). I can answer your question better if you can give me more details regarding the patient being treated (age, sex, etc.), the type of cancer being treated (lung, head and neck, etc.), and the treatment being given. Hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar m tn In the clinical trial design about obesity with type 2 diabetes , the exclusion criteria includes patients should be excluded if they have fasting glucose levels greater than 270 mg/dl, I wonder the the clinical significance of the 270 mg/dl? In the T2DM clinical guidance, I didn't find this value.
Avatar f tn Big decision - Do you know the name of the drug that you would be getting if you get the real thing? and did you say it is a phase 2 of the clinical trial? Sounds like you're asking some good questions about insurance.I have good insurance and the other day my doctor told me that they may not cover telaprevir -- so, im just starting my research....
Avatar m tn Wow, thanks everyone for the help and comments. Just got back from work to explain my delayed responce to all. the situation is that it's a clinical trial number 2B so it would be paid for by the pharma co. Around 35 g's worth. 6 months plus 6 more of observation. Yicks. I don't know about the rescure drugs but I imagine these may be needed to help you get over any side effects, I do luckily have a work drug plan so all comments are accurate.
Avatar m tn In the not too distant past, I seldomed heard the sound of a clinical trial, and I suspect, because clinical biological testing was too inhumane in the USA, until former president Bush pushed the federal gov't to enact a federal law shielding pharmaceutical companies from law suits of FDA approved meds. The door to clinical trials were wide open; however, in 2009, concerning a case where a muscian lost her arm to a toxic reaction to "some" drug, the U.S.
Avatar f tn I'm contemplating a clinical trial that has riba in 4 of the 9 arms. My question to the PA was: "If I develop hemolytic anemia how will it addressed?" Her reposnse was we will "probably" stop the riba. While I didn't think to ask now am wondering in a doubleblinded study how does one know which drug is riba or would they stop all meds? I'm not exactly getting cold feet but wondering if I should wait. I have HCV over 40 years and am f-2.
Avatar f tn The number that follows it is the trial drug. Most of us on this forum are or have been on a Gilead clinical trial for HCV drugs. Are you on treatment or waiting to treat? Best CT.
Avatar m tn The roles of prolonged suppression of serum hbvdna (by oral antiviral), serum HBsAg, and Interferon in bringing about possible clearance of HBsAg are not clear. Your clinical trial seems to want to examine the role of Interferon, especially its effect on ISG, to try to get some answers.Other immunological factors are also to be examined. This may inform when and for how long to use Interferon in an optimal strategy. Just my opinion.
215858 tn?1420171556 Every clinical trial I was involved in my doctor asked me if I would like to participate. His office was a trial location. If you want to be proactive find out what locations in your area participate in clinical trials and contact them directly or ask you doctor to do so on your behalf. Of course you would have to qualify for the trial. Lately every trial I looked at I was either too sick or not sick enough. But now fortunatly I am taking Sovaldi /Olysio and so far so good at week 2.
Avatar m tn Currently on a clinical trial (TAF vs TDF - double blinded study). Started meds 3 days ago, didn't notice any side effects until later yesterday. I can only describe it as my feet and legs feeling cold. Did some research and it's suggested lactic acidosis. Should I be concerned this early on about this? I'm not sure if it's a side effect of the drug or just the cold weather doing it right now (I also sit under an air vent all day at work). At what point should I be worried?
Avatar m tn I posted in your other thread fairly late last night but there are a few things about clinical trials. Getting in a trial is not exactly as easy as it sounds. You kind of have to "qualify" for a clinical trial. It helps to know your Genotype. You don't necessarily have to have a liver biopsy. You have not treated before which means you are what would be considered "treatment naive" and sometimes that is a plus.
Avatar m tn No, you certainly don’t need your doctor’s permission to enter a clinical trial, although he can provide you with valuable input. There are many things to consider in regards to clinical trials; there are both benefits as well things to watch out for. You should discuss your wishes with your doc, and ask if he thinks you’d benefit from participation.
897070 tn?1320652629 you may want to contact two members of the forum, can-do-man regarding clinical trial participation with advanced fibrosis and mikesimon, a liver transplant recipient, regarding MELD score factors (both be righteous, outstanding dudes!) The details of the clinical trial should spell out whether roll-over is an option. Unfortunately from comment others have posted it seems you have have to fail tx wait and then start over rather than dynamically adjust dose.

1853014 tn?1340038575 So because of this I have called Duke University to see about getting in their clinical trials which I could start right away. I would like some feedback good and bad but in the end I realize its my decision. This waiting game has put my life on hold and affecting me financially only. thanks everyone for your response. I enjoy and respect all of you.
