Common Questions and Answers about Exenatide diabetes uk

byetta

Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with type II diabetes 3 months ago. I was started on byetta at the routine initial dose which was increased 2 months ago. I am only taking byetta, and no oral hypoglycemics (metformin, etc.)I have lost 29 lbs in that length of time, primarily due to decreased appetite, nausea, and vomiting. I understand that this is in all likelyhood due to delayed gastric emptying. My question: Is this ever going to get better???
Avatar f tn m from Ireland but ive got friends in UK same as here if you have gestational diabetes then they will will call you if they dong call all is good but if you want to be sure you can ring after a week :)
Avatar f tn G at home with FULL time Care the last 10 years, recently due to wound his Diabetic condition has worsened and now needs injections rather than pills, Of course his sugar levels have risen shapely and his local NHS dietician says she cannot supply (diabetes-specific formulas) through the NHS, so please can you direct me to where I can purchase such Formulas High in M.U.F.
Avatar m tn In the UK, diabetes test measurements are presented as mmol/l [millimoles/liter]. Normal fasting mmo/l glucose [blood sugar] ranges are 3.88 to 5.5 mmol/l. If your "gone up to 18points" is a fasting 18 mmol/l you are in the danger zone of having serious life threatening health issues. Please educate yourself on the hows/what-to-do's on diabetes control and management before its too late.
Avatar f tn A glucose test is when they test for gestational diabetes, you drink this orange sweet drink and then an hour later they take your blood. Not sure if it's in the UK or not, but I don't see why it wouldnt be.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to ask all mums with gestational diabetes, when you check your glucose levels with a monitor how long after a meal are you required to do so? What's the maximum mmol you should be or aim for? Just curious, coz here in the UK they expect us to achieve a job max of 7.5mmol an HOUR after a meal! It's very difficult....
Avatar f tn Hello, the most effective diet for controlling diabetes is one that is low carb, moderate protein, and high in healthy fats. You can look up paleo (their approach is quite diabetes friendly), or mediterannean (though you may want to reduce the bread, past, etc).
Avatar n tn I recently got told I have gestational diabetes, I'm due February 8th but my baby is a normal size. They hospital said they don't let anyone with gestational diabetes go past 39 weeks pregnant but on my birthday I'll turn 39 weeks pregnant is it pointless making plans? And do you get induced? I'm petrified of it all I don't know what to expect..
940486 tn?1245937258 Hi Mick. I'll try give you some info, answer some of your concerns, and make you aware of some of the potential problems you are facing with the UK Health Service. Because Levothyroxine is a T4 type med it usually takes 4-6 weeks to build up in the body and reach its full effect. This is because the T4 has to be converted by your body to T3 and build up to a level that is effective.
Avatar m tn Hey everyone, So I've had issues with my eyes since I was about 14 (I'm now 18, 19 in December). Around 3 months ago I had a check up with my optician after 1 year, she prescribed me some new lenses and everything was ok for about a week or so. After that week I started getting blurred vision in my right eye again and pain as if someone is pushing on my eye. I'm deeply worried as my family has a history of glaucoma and diabetes (I believe both can cause the loss of vision?).
Avatar m tn 1) Get my insulin by registering with a US based healthcare profesional and paying for it via the health insurance cover I will be given by my work - not sure how the surcharges and in-out of care really works with diabetes so if anyone can help explain it to me I would be grateful! 2) Get my free prescriptions from the UK and arrange for someone in the UK to have them shipped into the US - is this legal? Can UPS or FedEx ship it without subjecting it to temps that will damange the insulin?
Avatar f tn I only know of getting the iv HC in the UK from one doctor... He set up a diabetes pump with solu-cortef and set the pattern to be more like a normal diurnal rhythm. Prednisone is long acting and can have long term side effects. You may want to up sodium first? Unless you can get in the UK study. I am panhypopituitary too with no adrenals. I am on dex, worse than prednisone.
Avatar n tn I have noticed on this forum that some people have commented that they have had family members pre tested for Type 1. My son is 3rd generation Type 1 (his father and grandfather and uncle are also type 1). He is now 10 (diagnosed at 7). I have a son who is now 11 who so far is clear from diabetes. I test his blood sugar every few weeks or if he's ill, but I would like to know whether there is a test that will tell us whether he is likely to become diabetic.

Avatar f tn A bit anxious! My mum and sister both had gestational diabetes. So im kind of expecting to also have it. But we'll see :) Hope your all doing well. Im feeling so exhausted and have really bad pain in my tailbone and not really sleeping much. But otherwise im good. Lol.
Avatar n tn I have been experiencing very bad health problems for over a year now - I have been getting foggy heads where I feel like I am going to pass out but not actual spinning dizzyness - I get pins and needles and numbness in my hands and feet, I am always thirsty and visit the toilet regularly - I am extremely tired all the time and have gained a lot of weight - I can't drive anymore cause my loss of balance is too scary.
1009996 tn?1251246754 And its safe as long as you follow prescribed doctors orders. Its one of only two oral anti-diabetes medication in the WHO [World Health Organization] model list of essential medications, the other is Glyberide [glybenclamide] aka Daonil, Semi-Daonil and Euglucon in the UK.
3184929 tn?1344697526 In the UK we get blood tests in the beginning quite often, we have weight urine and blood pressure checked every midwife and consultant appointment. I've had gestational diabetes.
Avatar n tn Is this a decent first step for checking for diabetes? I have been told its for checking to see if you have any glucose in the urine, depending on that you would then need the blood test. Im in the UK and it seems the first step is the urine test according to my NHS walk in centre but you can ask for the blood test straight away if your really worried....but I think that depends on any symptoms.
Avatar f tn I've got a bit of a long question really & just want some insight off fellow diabetics & professionals if poss... I am a 30yo woman diagnosed with T1 diabetes in May 2000. I was 19 & had 6 wks before undergone a hysterectomy. I believe this shocked me into becoming diabetic altho T2 diabetes runs thru my maternal family (excluding my mum).
Avatar f tn When glasses RX are all over the place one thinks of undiagnosed diabetes or diabetes that is out of control. If you have diabetes or family history of diabetes or increased thirst, increased urination and unexplained weight loss you should be tested.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/diabetes/keto-diet-for-diabetes They are starting to accumulate some science and studies to support your notion. Let me ask you this. I'm not great about diets. Did you start slow or did you go all in at once?
Avatar f tn Some signs of downs syndrome can show on ultrasounds but not always get noticed. I had (UK) a dating scan at 12 weeks, another scan at 20 weeks (checks heart, brain, organs etc) and I have a few more because I'm classed as high risk. Never feel afraid to ask your doctor about future appointments and ultrasounds.
