Avatar n tn Exelon is the only patch. There are medications that can be taken by mouth. I work at a health care facility and we continue to get the patches. Have you checked with other pharmacies?
Avatar f tn Often she has had angry outbursts over the past few years also, has been afraid of descending stairways, falling, and dark places. Mother is in her late 90s now, but this has been going on for over 10 years. Recently she went to see a neurologist who took a blood test and ordered a brain scan. THis doctor told her that her brain is shrinking and that she does not have Alzheimer's disease. However, he prescribed Aricept for her to take.
Avatar n tn My husband has been prescibed the the 9.5 exelon patch but we still have a supply of the 4.6 patches. With them being so expensive can I use two of the 4.6 patches at the same time until we run out?
Avatar m tn can i combine 225mg. of effexor xr with exelon or dexamphetamine to help my sedated or lethargic condition?
Avatar n tn Hi Thanks for writing to the forum! There is a chance that your father suffers from both insomnia and oversleeping. The first night he has a disturbed sleep , hence he sleeps over the next day. The other possibility is that he is depressed. You can go over this link for signs of depression in elderly: http://www.eldercare.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=CG_Resources&file=article&sid=958 Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn My wife aged seventy, has had a persistent nausea problem since about February 2008. She wakes up in the morning and feels fine...until she starts to move around. The nausea stays with her until she has some food and liquid in her stomach. Many times, it subsides, but comes back when she moves around again. All her tests EGD, Cat Scan, MRI, etc turn out normal. Hida Scan showed her gall bladder to be very small and only 10% operative, so she had it removed about two months ago.

Avatar n tn His living will states he does not want to be on life support and we are left to figure out what quesiton to ask in order to abide by his wishes. One doc has already told us that if his brain does not "turn on" within the next month it is much less likely it will. He has been transfered to a long term care facility. What questions should we be asking?
969466 tn?1247741539 I am very glad to see that we now have an expert /Doctor forum I had been asking for a long time for MH to get one started so thank you MH and welcome Dr Rajgopal, to Quietfeather I hear(,you can google), that a new drug called' Rember 'is in the 2-3 year of trials in Aberdeen University in Scotland , they think if it gets passed that it will be a big breakthrough ,has shown a lot of promise, finally. put it into your search engine.for further information regarding it. Good luck..
Avatar n tn i think its ridiculous that you would place a pop up banner add directly in front of information to save someones life. weather its rehab or medicine when people come to this site they are usually at their last straw and what could be more pleasant to find in their desperation, a god damn pop up so you can make a buck AND dont tell me that not what its about because i have four sites of my own.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately, people with chronic illnesses that prevent them from expressing what they're feeling often end up overmedicated, which leads to accumulating side effects that are hard to distinguish from the effects of the illness.
Avatar f tn Hey Kelly, nice to see you, though the reason su_cks! I've not heard of anyone or remember lol seeing it mentioned here, so i did a quick search and drugs .com states...... "In a trial testing the use of memantine (the active ingredient contained in Namenda XR) in MS patients with cognitive impairment, nine out of nineteen patients reported a worsening of their neurologic symptoms that deteriorated their quality of life.
769333 tn?1235214424 Needless to say we both were sleep deprived. In desperation each of those 3 nights I gave him 1 alprazolam and in 15min he was asleep like a baby and slept the rest of the night. My question is I hear so much about the addiction of alprazolam and wonder if this will work for a while again and will we have to increase it again. How do I explain to my neurologist my concerns for his negative feelings about alprazolam? My children say he is 85yrs old, been through much...
Avatar f tn Probably everyone on this forum is in the same boat, ill but not knowing why, some of us guess what it might be. Whatever we all have to deal with horrid symptoms causing disability & fear of the future. Personally my worst fear is loosing my eye sight, if I couldn’t see I wouldn’t feel in control of my self, if I couldn’t use the computer I would feel isolated from understanding friends.
Avatar n tn help find a doctor in the muncie, in.
Avatar m tn BECAUSE OF IT BEING RUFF IN CT , NO JOBS AND HAVING KIDS MY SISTER IN LAW DECIDED TO MOVE TO ATL FOR A CHANGE AND FOR A NEW START. MY WIFE SPOKE TO ME ABOUT IT AND SAID IT WAS OK FOR HER TO STAY ALONG WITH HER TWO KIDS AT MY HOUSE UNTIL SHE COULD GET HERSELF ON TRACK. THAT WENT OK UNTIL MY WIFE AND HER SISTER STARTED TO GET INTO IT. HER SISTER FEELS LIKE WE OWNED HER SOMETHING AND ALMOST STARTED ACTING LIKE SHE WAS THE WOMAN OF THE HOUSE, WHILE IN FACT WE WERE DOING HER A FAVOR.
