Avatar m tn Hi, i'm 35 and I seem to have physiological erectile dysfunction. I have been under a lot of stress but my situation is now better since a few months ago. I'm having trouble getting a firm erection when masturbating that won't last long without physical stimulation. I still get erections that are firm while sleeping and waking up in the morning. I also went to see a doctor who ran blood tests and everything came out normal. My testosterone was normal too.

You are talking about something entirely different than erectile dysfunction. And obviously, yes, there is a psychological component to being aroused. I am not a doctor, but I would suggest you make an appointment to see your doctor or a different one or even consider referral to a urologist if your doctor feels this may be helpful. The injection that you were given (papaverine) is used to relax and open the blood vessels.
