Avatar m tn Impotence or erectile dysfunction is common side effect after radical prostatectomy. The nerve sparing technique restores potency in men when tumor is localized. Of the two surgical techniques, these are nerve-sparing ones, unilateral prostatectomy can save the neurovascular nerve bundle and bilateral spares both. The erectile function returns in more than half who undergo the bilateral technique and about half for unilateral technique.
Avatar m tn I was treated for my prostate cancer with the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound method. I'm happy wih the results so far as Its been almost three years and my last PSA was 0.3 However, I've been having unusually high BP for the past year or so and it has been resistant to most medicatiions to control it. One test my doc did, discovered high DHEA and I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar reaction after having prostate surgery.
1907520 tn?1321901097 m writing this a month to the day after your scheduled surgery). My husband was diagnosed with a VERY high grade prostate cancer (gleason 10), just before Thanksgiving and has not yet begun treatment. I do not think in his case, anyway, that surgery is a good idea, as he's 72 and has pretty severe emphysema and other chronic health issues. I am hoping that, due to your much younger age, that you'll come through the surgery with flying colors and that it can get all the cancer. Good luck.
Avatar f tn It does cause erectile dysfunction though. There is testimonials everywhere on the net about it. It blocks the conversion of dht and can inturn lower testosterone levels. if u read up on propecia, the hair loss treatment.
Avatar n tn I went back to the Doctor and he prescribe me Levitra for erectile dysfunction and told me that other patients have secondary effects after taking Levaquin. So, I took the Levitra and I started gettin my erections back and ejaculated without pain. After a month he switch me to Cialis, then after month of taking cialis I decided to stop taking cialis because I was able to get erections on my own, but a few days ago I started having painful ejaculations.
Avatar m tn With nerves, there is always the possibility that damage can occur elsewhere. I don't think this is your problem, but perhaps you should have your prostate checked. It's possible that your prostate was hurt by the dildo...or that you had a previous prostate problem to begin with but didn't show until now. I suggest going back to your doctor and telling him everything...or at least ask to have your prostate checked. Another possibility is that you are suffering from anxiety.
Avatar m tn When consulted about erectile dysfunction a professional doctor does not and need not take sexual orientation, religion or politics into consideration at all. All that matters is the person suffering from ED and how to get him right again. In your case you have classical performance anxiety. Cialis would help give you back some confidence. A better solution might be to take intercourse off the menu and not challenge yourself. No performance no anxiety if you follow.

Avatar n tn Because semen is manufactured in the prostate gland any interference with it, like biopsy, is going to produce blood in the ejaculate. This is natural and normal and does not require and particular actions on your behalf. There are many reasons why you might experience occasional erectile dysfunction and BP medications would not be high on my list of potential candidates. You might consider taking Cialis 10 mg every other day. This would improve your ED and urine stream at the same time.
Avatar n tn A lot depends on overall health, but by age 70, about 15% of men experience complete erectile dysfunction. About 70% will have experienced mild or moderate ED. (https://www.uwhealth.org/urology/erectile-dysfunction-ed/20537) You posted in the Prostate Cancer forum. Have you had prostate cancer? That could certainly be a factor, or the treatment of it could be. The meds you take have been shown to help some men with ED, but a lot depends on the cause of it.
Avatar m tn I asked a surgeon not to take out my lymph nodes. I started treating erectile dysfunction with an ED vacuum pump two months after the operation. Afterwards, I started taking Viagra, then Vitaros cream inserted into the urethra, and finally injected myself with Viridial Duo. Each of these treatments had side effects. Eventually, in May this year, during masturbation, my penis reached a full erection that lasted about 4-5 minutes.

Avatar m tn This was originally created for prostate surgery patients and many doctors are not familiar with it. Find the right doctor and get some! You will be totally amazed.
Avatar m tn m not a doctor, but I think some loss of sexual function is typical after any type of prostate surgery -- but these days, especially with pills like Viagra, some of that loss may be mitigated, with the right treatment regimen. One thing to consider when choosing a surgeon is, does he have any colleagues who specialize in sexual dysfunction? In other words, can he refer you to a urologist who has a lot of experience in treating erectile dysfunction?
Avatar f tn That's the downside. We have to have our prostate shrunk and medication that does it can also affect our penis. Have you had much shrinkage? Shrinkage can happen for different reasons. Even getting older an cause it, smoking, taking various medications (not just avodart), gaining weight, etc. Do you find you also have erectile dysfunction? Avodart, unfortunately, is associated with these side effects. It's unclear though how long they will last. What does your doctor say?

Avatar m tn Yes - there’s a device called the Phoenix, you use it at hone. I have one - after prostate cancer surgery I had pretty severe ED, altho my function was perfect prior to surgery. I had ‘nerve sparing’ surgery, but even so, the nerves controlling erections get damaged, if they’re spared they can sometimes recover. It was taking a long time to get things back to somewhat normal, so. I bought one. It’s pretty loud, makes kind of a ‘jackhammer’ sound, but it did seem to help.
Avatar m tn Hello, What you are having could be erectile dysfunction which is psychological in nature. This is usually due to stress, alcohol or tiredness.
Avatar m tn Also, I recently read in an online forum about another man who suffered with undiagnosed erectile dysfunction and pain. This man was also diagnosed with an internal hemorrhoid. After a banding procedure to remove the hemorrhoid, this man’s erectile dysfunction disappeared. Could an internal hemorrhoid cause penis pain and erectile dysfunction? Could an internal hemorrhoid slip through the muscle wall and impinge upon the root of the penis, causing pain and deformation of erections?
Avatar n tn Although it can be embarrassing to talk with your doctor about sexual issues, seeking help for erectile dysfunction can be worth the effort. Erectile dysfunction treatments ranging from medications to surgery can help restore sexual function for most men. Sometimes erectile dysfunction is caused by an underlying condition such as heart disease. So it's important to take erectile trouble seriously because it can be a sign of a more serious health problem.
