His dr said the dizziness was due to old age and the heart does not pump enough blood anymore. his dr said the solution is to put a pace maker. my question is what is the risk benefit ratio for him of his age? thank you.
I have a pace maker and i weld for a living i was told not to weld without protection and as far as i can tell none available was told to use a ex-ray vest most likely ffrom the dental side of medicine is this possible
I had a pace maker ( Altrua 60 DDDR is-1) six days ago. Now I feel worst. I have shortness of breath and when I stand my blood pressure drops dramatically as low as 84/30. Sitting is pretty normal. I am taking Sotalol HCL 120 mg 1/2 tablet twice a day. I can not climb stairs or do much walking with out struggling to breath. Is this normal for a new heart Pacer implant? Do I need to give it more time? I might add that I suffer from autonomic neuropathy.

My father is 79 years old and has had multiple heart attacks beginning approximately 15 years ago when he was airlifted to the Arizona Heart Institute in Phoenix, AZ. Within the last 10-12 years, he has had 3 angioplasty(?) procedures, i.e "balloons" to remover blockages. Has been on multiple meds including Toprol (?) & daily doses of nitro. He moved to the south to live near my older sister & me appx. 3 years ago.
I just found out thaqt I am now considered pace maker dependent and that I need my pace maker replaces sometime soon. What happens during surgery? Does my heart stop or at risk or stopping when the doctor is transitioning from my old pace maker to my new one. i am 70 years old and scared of the relacement process.

About two months after I had a pace maker put in, I started to be very short of breath. I struggled with this for a couple of months before seeing a doctor. Fluid was compressing my lung. I had thoracentesis and they drew out 1100ccs of fluid. Fluid was tested but nothing was found. I wonder if there is a relationship between the pace maker and the fluid build up.

scared of electrical fire or shock, it started earlier tonight i was boiling water in my coffee maker and as i had it on i didnt put the pot in its place and water was everywhere and i power bar hooked up to the coffee maker and im afraid of some kind of fire in the middle of the night or a shock of some sort please help

Yes, changes in blood pressure with a pacemaker should alert you about the replacement of the pacemaker, because if your mother is completely dependant upon the pace maker for her heart beat, then this will affect her heart rate and hence the pressures.
It is necessary to consult a cardiologist immediately for a temporary pace maker, to support the heart rate while he changes the pacemaker. Hope this helps. Best.

My 70 year old father passed away of an apparent heart attack. He had a pace maker and was part of a clinical study for the device. We didn't do an autopsy but we had data from his pace maker analysed after he was buried. He was found at his home several days after anyone had last heard from him, and by the odour and staining on the hardwood floor (from his body) we thought he may have expired 3 or 4 days before we found him.
but has suggested to the cardiologist that the last resort is a pace maker ...AND an SA node ablation.... I cannot find much info on SA node ablation ... PLEASE HELP.. It must not be very common and my mind is saying very risky since there is not much info... Please give me resources.. info..
