epipen use instructions

I live 20 minutes from the nearest doctor or hospital. Until recently I always felt safe because I could use an epipen and that would give me time to get help. But now I have been diagnosed with about 8000 PVCs a day, and was told by another sufferer that I shouldn't use an epipen anymore, that it's not a good idea for those with PVCs.

m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.

Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.

I thought it was anaphylactic shock and wanted to use my epipen. They told me not to! Just to remain calm and the ambulance was almost there. I sure hope I never have to go thru anything like that again in my life!

hi, yes i already have an epipen to use when i suffer from an attack, throughout the past 2 years ever since i started getting the attacks i have suffered from about 12-14 anaphylactic attacks and going thrugh every possible test there is to find out whats causing it and still the doctors and immunologists still can't find a cause.

This weekend was horrible, I had two reaction to the water, on friday it was with rain, and had to give me 2 shoots of Epipen, and than I was better but shaking badly from the Epipen, and yesturday just by sweat I did a reaction and again the Epipen but just once, and I didnt even went to the hospital after, his that dangerous if I dont go???? And his it dangerous I have to many shoots?????

In the interim you need to have something like Medic Alert who could not only notify the paramedics, but could possibly notify someone around you who could come to your aid. You should teach everyone in your family how to use the EpiPen and all your close (in proximity and other) friends. There are also personal alarms that will sound shrilly if activated. That could alert family and neighbors.

I have carried an epipen for the last 11 years for my son and Thank God we have not had to use it. But I was wondering if anyone did have an experience like this and had to use an epipen. Or if you have any information on urticaria pigmentosa? ( I know alot about it but I always would like to know more. Please share any information you may have or experiences you incountered.

Hi Ohio: It's my experience and to my knowledge, once you've had a strong allergic reaction to something, yes, it will accelerate. And NO! Epipens are not expensive. I use Benadryl as my first line of defense once a reaction starts. Many times it works and I don't have to use the Epipen. I hate the way the Epipen makes me feel. So do ask your doctor. I don't want to scare you but severe allergic reactions can be a serious problem.

You could do the same and give instructions to co-workers on how to use your epipen if you carry one.

I am wondering if I could possible use a nicotine inhaler (e.g. nicorette) since nicotine stimulates adrenaline and it is so much cheaper and convenient to carry around.

I have an epipen, I just never want to have to use it. What should I do about these frequent panic attacks? This is no fun....living like this....it stress me out super bad.

So I had my braces adjusted this morning and as I usually take Advil for the pain and I can't now I was wondering if you can use oragel. My teeth are really bothering me and its all I can do to not rip them out.

The other day my friend had a major asthma attack that almost sent him to the ER-- he thankfully had an epipen nearby. He thinks what triggered it was a laxative (sennosides in pill form) he took a couple of hours before. Is this even possible? And if so, should he be avoiding all things laxative? I wouldn't be asking these questions here, but he is too stubborn to go to a doctor like he should.

With the talk of EpiPen in Michelle's post earlier today it got me thinking about my problem with needles and other self infecting skin damage devices. I am hoping that maybe someone will have some ideas or at least where to look for help with this. My problem isn't the normal fear of needles. I can get shot or blood drawn with no problems. Well except I have to be able to watch what is going on.If I can't see it happening I will pass out.

As for your teeth and mouth, your doctor should have given you instructions to rinse or brush your teeth after using the Advair, otherwise it can eat through the enamel and also cause sores and sensitivity in your mouth. If you have any concerns, you should call your doctor or pharmacist. Hope this helps.

I read into it and it's no... On the instructions it say not to use in pregnancy. I had bad shoulder and couldn't use it. Same with most muscle creams. But it is ok to use something like hot water bottle.

If the patient has a history of allergic reaction with the use of itraconazole they must inform their doctor before trying voriconazole because it may cause the same kind of allergic reaction.. It all depends on the patient as well because she may not have the same kind of reaction with the second medication that she had with the first.

Anything you ingest by mouth is eventually going to go through your liver. From what I've read, ibuprofen isn't as hard on the liver as tylenol (acetomenaphen or paracetamol), but still be careful to take no more than what the label says, and tell your doctor you're taking it. If it works, your doctor may direct you to take more than what's on the label, but again, follow instructions, dosage and timing carefully. Stay away from the "extra strength" formulas.

I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.

I would not recommend going against the instructions on the bottle and taking all 7 days at once. I can't tell you if any of those other ones will be better because I have never tried them.

You may need an Epipen if it becomes more severe but in the meantime see a physician and buy some Benadryl.

I ususally use my OPK first thing in the morning...between CD10 - CD17. Always got positive .

I have also had my Dr RX the med to be taken just b4 bed to help with the nighttime issues...again check with ur Dr, or instructions on the med itself.

Yes, I take Rebif as well and I don't have any injection site problems. I just started 3 weeks ago though. But I take it at night right before I go to sleep. If I do it during the day, I get realllllllly sleepy. Hope everything turns out ok!
