Common Questions and Answers about Enbrel side effects mayo clinic

enbrel

Avatar n tn s one from the Mayo Clinic said it can be a side effect for some people. After I stopped it I was back to my old self, and just an fyi while I was on it, it did nothing to help me. Do you take any anti inflammatory meds? I have had great luck with ketoprophen, brand name is Oruvail. Just a suggestion, you do need a Rx for it. I've been on Enbrel 8 weeks and it has not helped at all, going to the Remicade and or Humira next.
Avatar m tn Some here on the board are not real pleased with the Mayo clinic. It seems they have their own set of standards to give out a dx of MS. I personally know nothing about them and wish you the best....hoping for that answer.
Avatar f tn After recovering from Stage 4 Kidney Failure, after 4 years off Simvastatin, which caused it, my doctor recommended an MRI with and without contrast. I objected to the contrast dye because I knew about the risk of NSF (Nephrogenic Systemic Fibrosis). He assured me that my kidneys would flush it out of my system in 24 - 36 hours. 4 days later I awoke with both hands clenched tight and opening them was painful.
Avatar f tn t mean to frighten Enbrel users. For many ppl Enbrel is a wonderful medication that causes no serious side effects and brings great benefits. There are many testimonies that support it's effectiveness. However with any drug, (even Aspirin) that doesn't apply to 100% of the ppl. No one should discontinue any medication without first consulting their physician. I am hopeful your Rheumatologist will listen to your concerns and address them.
Avatar n tn and this is to help keep nasal membranes moist as well. An ENT doctor at Mayo Clinic told me to use this as well, even though I have Vasomotor rhinitis. Hope this is of some help to you I would go and see an ENT doctor though. and be honest with him about your past use of cocaine., as this could help with your treatment of your nasal problems.
Avatar n tn Hello there, I am 24 years old male I was recently diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome (Reactive Arthritis). I am positive for HLA-B27 antigen. It's been almost one month since the first swelling and before that I had Chlamydia. My symptoms so far are swelling in knees, elbow, ankles, toes, wrist, fingers, and I think in my spine too, and of course, pain and stiffness. I didn't have any other problem from the list of problems that come with Reiter's.
Avatar f tn Granted, we have different types of arthritis, mine being psoriatic arthritis, but I can tell you that I was on Enbrel alone for atleast three years and I had great results with no side effects. For me it was a wonder drug. You may wonder why I would go off something so great...it was a dollars and cents issue. My husband retired and my lifelong coverage of medication was reduced to $100,000. On a medication like Enbrel, I would go through that within 4 to 5 years.
Avatar n tn I am already looking into takeing him to the mayo clinic, where we are the choices are limied but I will keep in contact.
Avatar n tn Did they test you for the HLA-B27 gene marker? Look up Ankoylosing Spondylitis at Mayo Clinic site or just google the words. I belong to the AS society and have had it for years. Except for the Hep C I have a lot of the same symptoms. Also take Enbrel, this will be my 6th shot today and so far not really working. They are going to try Remicade next. Did you have any kind of an infection prior to the symptoms coming on? Also, check out the the Arthritis Foundations website.
627388 tn?1222198212 Has anyone from the MS forum ever seek treatment for their MS at the Mayo Clinic? If so, how was your as your experience with physicians from the clinic? I am considering driving up to Mayo at some point if my neurologist in town can't definatively diagnosis me.
Avatar f tn I have just made an appointment for a full work up at the Mayo Clinic, does anyone know the tests involved and how much they charge? Thank you!
582396 tn?1259863489 I am over the moon excited that DH got a 5-10 day appointment at Mayo Clinic - Dec. 10. Anyone have any experiences on what to expect etc?
1264955 tn?1381782221 Has anybody here been to the neurology clinic at the Mayo or in their inpatient pain treatment program?
Avatar m tn Although the Enbrel may have lessened the pain and progression. other side effects and basically an unwell feeling. dizziness. sinusitis. Pain in eyes. If this is as good as it gets. there must be something better. anyone else been here and found something better?
422104 tn?1209763904 I got my shipment this week but am waiting till Sat. night to do it in case of any side effects. Your experience will help me alot. I'm also going thru some tests to see if I have MS. The neuro said it was ok to start to taking the Enbrel, hope he's right! Do you use the sure click injector or an actual syringe? This sounds like a stupid question but has it helped you significantly?
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for taking the time to respond, it is greatly appreciated. My last vaccine was over a week ago, and I have seen some fluctuation of the side effects since this post as well. They are fairly steady and constant, but I have noticed a decrease on occasion so am hopeful they may all pass soon. I’ve also began utilizing OTC pain meds daily which do help tremendously the constant headache.
422104 tn?1209763904 I have severe psoriatic arthritis (it's like RA, just not quite as deforming) and used Enbrel for four years 3X a week plus one injection of metho. For me it was a miracle drug! I felt like a spring chicken again! I could go up and down stairs, I could squat, I could get in and out of chairs or off the toilet without help.............I felt normal for the first time in years. I stopped taking it last August, almost a year ago, and it's been a nightmare.
Avatar f tn Is there something that I can do to combat the yucky side effects? Also, what about surgery? I do have a Dr. at Mayo that suggests a consult with the Neurosurgeon. I'd appreciate any feedback or ideas... Thanks much!
766574 tn?1238465473 I had tried enbrel shots, light box, coal tar, i had it as bad as you do, all over my body ive been hopsitalized, been to the mayo clinic, i cant think of the name of the other meds...every steroid known to man, oh and cyclosporine & PUVA . you get the point. anyway you wont believe what finaly cured me. and let me tell you i am 100% cleared. I am 29 yrs old & cleared up 3 yrs ago with NO outbreaks since. before my outbreaks were brought on by strep virus, thats what i think at least.
Avatar n tn I have been at the Mayo Clinic for the last week. It has been a very pleasant experience, given my circumstances. They have been very efficient and very informative. They have treated me like a person and not just a number. I am very impressed. I am looking for some personal advice on medications. I was dx with CIS due to the fact that I am not really experiencing any symptoms other than the optic neuritis, which has resolved for the most part.
486038 tn?1300063367 I've not been to the Jacksonville Mayo or the MS clinic in Houston, I'm sorry about that. I have heard a lot of good things about the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas and Dr. Elliot Frohman who works there. I'm sure if you google his name you can find out much more than I can tell you about, here.
1544019 tn?1318504526 Thanks, Justice! You should look into Enbrel when you're done with your pregnancy. It is seriously a MIRACLE drug for people with RA! At least it has been for me! About taking it during pregnancy, I have had to do a TON of research about the subject myself since there are discrepencies in the doctors viewpoints. The problem is that Enbrel is a relatively "new" drug. I have been taking it basically since it came out (since 2001).
Avatar n tn ve been on it 2 times a week since then and have very good luck with it. No side effects and have to take no other medications with it, besides Vicodin when I have a flare up or severe pain. I'll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.
