enbrel

Avatar f tn ve never taken Enbrel since I have Osteoarthritis and not Rheumatoid but in going to the Enbrel.com website and reading the side effects, I would be extremely concerned about the side effects that you are experiencing. From everything I've read it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility that at least some of your problems that you have. You should get hold of your Doctor immediately and go and see him and talk with him.
Avatar n tn Hello there, I am 24 years old male I was recently diagnosed with Reiter's Syndrome (Reactive Arthritis). I am positive for HLA-B27 antigen. It's been almost one month since the first swelling and before that I had Chlamydia. My symptoms so far are swelling in knees, elbow, ankles, toes, wrist, fingers, and I think in my spine too, and of course, pain and stiffness. I didn't have any other problem from the list of problems that come with Reiter's.
Avatar f tn Granted, we have different types of arthritis, mine being psoriatic arthritis, but I can tell you that I was on Enbrel alone for atleast three years and I had great results with no side effects. For me it was a wonder drug. You may wonder why I would go off something so great...it was a dollars and cents issue. My husband retired and my lifelong coverage of medication was reduced to $100,000. On a medication like Enbrel, I would go through that within 4 to 5 years.
Avatar m tn Although the Enbrel may have lessened the pain and progression. other side effects and basically an unwell feeling. dizziness. sinusitis. Pain in eyes. If this is as good as it gets. there must be something better. anyone else been here and found something better?
Avatar n tn I never wanted to go on MTX because the side effects scare me, and I enjoy a few drinks with friends. A new doctor has put me on it in conjunction with Enbrel because I have couple joints which have been causing me problems. Otherwise, I've been great on Enbrel. I am now in my 3rd week on MTX, and seveal joints are really flaring. I find this very depressing. The GI tract challenges, fatigue and foggy brain are a pain, but my arthritis now seems worse in general.
1544019 tn?1318504526 I've never injected Enbrel in my stomach! I always do it in my thigh or butt... I did this Enbrel Pregnancy research when I was pregnant with my 2nd child. I have had RA since I was 15 and I have 2 children (pregnant with my 3rd). I used Enbrel during my pregnancies, just less often. I take a 25mg shot every other week or every 3rd... Everything is fine with my two children...I wish there was more research on it...
1544019 tn?1318504526 Thanks, Justice! You should look into Enbrel when you're done with your pregnancy. It is seriously a MIRACLE drug for people with RA! At least it has been for me! About taking it during pregnancy, I have had to do a TON of research about the subject myself since there are discrepencies in the doctors viewpoints. The problem is that Enbrel is a relatively "new" drug. I have been taking it basically since it came out (since 2001).
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Severe RA in 1999 and was prescribed Enbrel. I've been on it 2 times a week since then and have very good luck with it. No side effects and have to take no other medications with it, besides Vicodin when I have a flare up or severe pain. I'll be getting married this October and am curious to know if any woman out there have gotten pregnant and given birth while on Enbrel.
Avatar f tn Simple exercise while lying in bed or sitting in front of the TV -- try leg raises, bicep curls and walking in place. I've had rheumatoid arthritis for 11 years and lost 100 pounds with great results. Just walking around the block gave me great pain relief and removed all signs of depression. It took months just to get to the corner but it helped after concentration and prayer during the walk. Buy a walkman or mp3 player.
422104 tn?1209763904 I got my shipment this week but am waiting till Sat. night to do it in case of any side effects. Your experience will help me alot. I'm also going thru some tests to see if I have MS. The neuro said it was ok to start to taking the Enbrel, hope he's right! Do you use the sure click injector or an actual syringe? This sounds like a stupid question but has it helped you significantly?
Avatar f tn My problem is that when I get off Enbrel, every joint in my body swells, turns red, hurts unbearably and locks up. I become completely bedridden and cannot get dressed or go to the bathroom without help. My blood tests show that, even with the Enbrel, my c reactives and other immune response numbers are very high. They tell me that they will give me prednisone to help with the reaction.
Avatar f tn Lulu--I used to take humira, which is a TNF inhibitor like Enbrel. One of the rare side effects of both humira and enbrel is the development of MS or MS-like symptoms. I didn't pay enough attention to the warning because it seemed so remote and happened so rarely. However, it happened to me. If what I have is MS, the doctor isn't sure whether the humira caused it, or if I would've gotten MS anyway, but the humira hurried the process along.
370181 tn?1595629445 I have now been through prednisone, methotrexate, Enbrel, Humara(Humira? sp) then back to Enbrel.......then nothing. The Enbrel worked very well, but I have massive anxiety about the biologics. I just don't trust them and and it's very frustrating. I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard spot. On one hand they really do make me feel better, pain and ROM vastly improved.
Avatar f tn OOne of our members posted a while back that she had learned at a seminar that the biologicals (or some of them) used to treat inflammatory types of arthritis can cause MS. We investigated that on our own and found the best information on drugs *******. Look up Enbrel then click on something like 'more side effects' or 'side effects for professionals'. Look towards the end for 'Postmarketing Reports'.
Avatar f tn You're absolutely right. I think this unfortunately must have been MS but my rheumatologist dismissed it as a side effect of Enbrel and didn't order any tests at the time, neither did she send me to a specialist... she didn't even recommend discontinuing Enbrel at that point. I quit Enbrel on my own, about a month or so later (as far as I remember) but the symptoms persist, and now they have worsened.
422104 tn?1209763904 I have severe psoriatic arthritis (it's like RA, just not quite as deforming) and used Enbrel for four years 3X a week plus one injection of metho. For me it was a miracle drug! I felt like a spring chicken again! I could go up and down stairs, I could squat, I could get in and out of chairs or off the toilet without help.............I felt normal for the first time in years. I stopped taking it last August, almost a year ago, and it's been a nightmare.
Avatar f tn Hi Karen, I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. I also have RA, for which my main medications are methotrexate and Enbrel. If mtx isn't working for you, I would urge you to look into adding a biologic like Enbrel or Humira to the mix. It's very important that you get off the prednisone if at all possible. It can give you short-term relief but trust me, the long-term effects of prednisone are not worth it.
1037767 tn?1262606784 ) I was terrified of mtx and refused to take it for a long time, but seriously it has been in use for decades and its side effects are well documented. The percentage of RA patients who have serious problems with it are very low, and the good news is if your blood tests detect a problem, it reverses when you stop taking it. The only thing you really have to worry about is not getting pregnant while on it. I've been on it for about 20 years, and even had a healthy child during that time.
Avatar n tn Reactions to mtx are as individual as each person who takes it. For example, I've been on it for over 20 years and it is still my mainstay. About 3 years ago I switched from the pills to the self-injectible, which is supposed to give you "more bang for the buck" because it bypasses the digestive system. Since adding Enbrel to the mtx, I haven't had a major flare in over 3 years. Mtx alone worked pretty well but I'd get breakthrough flares once or twice a year.
