Egg protein absorption rate

Common Questions and Answers about Egg protein absorption rate

Avatar n tn Bkfast was usually between 10-11 AM and dinner between 3-6 PM. Lastly, for maxium absorption, don't take antacids within 2 hours of the ribavirin. PPI's like Nexium, Prilosec and Aciphex are OK to take with the riba, as are OTC H-2 pumps like Zantac and Pepcid AC. Pepsid Complete, on the other hand, contains an antacid, so it should also be spaced away from the riba. Same with Gaviscon -- space it away from the riba.
Avatar m tn After some research I found that Whey is a very fast absorbing protein that has a rapid digest rate, which I believe is the reason for the anxiety, too much energy all at once. After more researching I discovered the wonders of Egg and Casein. Egg protein has about the same quality profile of Whey, however it is a moderate absorbing protein that the body uses over a greater amount of time.
Avatar f tn Just don't cut calorie intake too much or you will slow your metabolic rate, or the rate at which your body burns calories. Women should not go below a minimum 1,200 calories per day and men should consume at least 1,800 calories for safe weight loss. LEG PULLS Many abdominal exercises emphasize only one section of the abdominals, leg pulls will strengthen your lower and middle abdominals at the same time.
Avatar m tn Fish, Whey protein concentrate, Vegetable Protein, Microalgae contains protein, Cooked lentils, chickpeas, and black, kidney, and pinto beans contain about 15 grams of protein per cup. A quarter cup of sunflower seeds pack 6 grams of protein. Greens count, too. Eating a cup each of cooked spinach and broccoli equals about 9 grams of protein.
Avatar m tn My understanding is that Whey protein is very fast burning not sure about Soy and Hemp and Egg but on the other end my understanding is Cassiene protein powder is the slowest. Weight lifting crowd reccomends Whey right after a workout because it gets in quick, and they reccommend Casseine at bedtime because it is slower and thus works away and you don't have to get up to drink more. To summarize: would Casseine be the best protein powder (in a pinch) because it "burns" slower?
789911 tn?1368640383 Even alcohol should always be taken with food to slow down the absorption rate. I don't think milk or eggnog would slow the absorption of alcohol very much but a meal, even a light meal, would. So to me, it just makes sense that the Incivek would also absorb slower if taken with solid food, at least some of it solid, along with the high fat part. It takes food a lot longer to go through the system than it takes liquids to go through the system.
Avatar n tn Some people have high metabolic rate while others have low metabolic rate. The people with the high metabolic rate seem to eat anything and not put on any weight, while people with low metabolic rate tend to put on weight quite easily. Exercising uses up a lot of energy and the energy that are not used are converted to body tissues. Therefore the balance is simple. Taking in more energy then you use will assist in weight gain. Taking in less energy then you use will assist in weight loss.
Avatar f tn Eggs and good whey protein seem like my best hope of keeping his protein high. If Joe tries Teleprevir, it will be interesting to see if his hgb. won't tank so badly if he eats more protein. He is doing so much better now that it is hard to contemplate knocking him down again with the meds but I guess we might have to try. I don't want to continue if he isn't doing phenomenally well after 4 weeks. No way can we face months and months of misery if it doesn't look very promising.
545538 tn?1295995617 First, there seems to be some confusion regarding bioavailability versus rate of absorption. Several times you refer to the slower absorption of ribavirin with a high fat meal as if it’s a negative. In fact, slower absorption is often associated with HIGHER bioavailabity which to simplify means how much of the drug taken becomes available. “The clinician is concerned primarily with bioavailability rather than absorption.”
Avatar m tn But all said, if Rock gets his daily protein requirement (50 grams = 200 protein calories which by some standards just might do it) -- and -- his daily nutritional requirements -- and -- he's able to maintain energy, weight and muscle mass -- then I guess it works for him. Still think this is a genetic anomoly. BTW some research suggests very low calorie diets (under 2000/day) -- with proper nutrition -- can prolong life, i.e. the proverbial fountain of youth.
Avatar m tn Smart Protein Meat and full-fat milk offer plenty of protein, but they are also major sources of cholesterol. You may be able to reduce LDL cholesterol by switching to soy protein, such as tofu, at some meals. Fish is another great choice. It's rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can improve cholesterol levels. The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice a week.
Avatar f tn and your body responds by slowing your metabolic rate in order to hold on to existing energy stores. What's worse, if the food shortage (meaning your crash diet) continues, you'll begin burning muscle tissue, which just gives your enemy, visceral fat, a greater advantage. Your metabolism drops even more, and fat goes on to claim even more territory.
4274823 tn?1388532698 Floravit and Floradix Herbal Iron Extracts have the highest rate of iron absorption at 25%, compared to the average absorption rate of iron tablets at 2-10%. Only Floravit and Floradix do not cause constipation, the biggest concern about most iron supplements, especially tablets. This tonic is vegetarian, suitable for children and alcohol-free. Vitamin C is included in these supplements, along with other herbs and B-vitamins, to maximize the absorption rate of iron and assist digestion.
Avatar f tn meat/eggs/dairy are complete protein. meats/eggs are known as heme...iron rich food that absorbs well. non-heme can still be high in spinach, green peppers, beets. though they contain iron, it is bound and doesn't absorb easily. Unless you eat it with heme food, and then it absorbs much better. So better to make a meal of salad and veggies, and have your meat or egg sand (if you can't go vegan) at a different meal. that will at least keep apsorption to a minimum.
Avatar n tn On one end of the spectrum is the cardioinhibitory response, characterized by a drop in heart rate (negative chronotropic effect) and in contractility (negative inotropic effect) leading to a decrease in cardiac output that is significant enough to result in a loss of consciousness. It is thought that this response results primarily from enhancement in parasympathetic tone. 2.
Avatar f tn I would love to get back to normal. I can't even sweep with a broom without it sending me into a spell with my heart rate racing to up to 180 bpm. I'm only 41. I have quit the caffeine intake since July 2014 and switched to decaf coffee and caffine free soft drinks. I used to smoke 1 pack of cigarettes a day now I'm down to around 2-4. Still having the same spells..I see no improvement. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.
1366363 tn?1280330984 Your labs show that your total cholesterol is definitely high......that's one sign of hypothyroidism. Fatigue, weight gain/inability to lose, muscle/joint aches/pains, hair loss and a multitude of others are also common symptoms...... Your T3 and T4 levels are definitely low in their ranges; I wish I knew if they were free or total readings, because it does make a difference.
Avatar f tn One can't live for very long, without thyroid hormones, because they control several of your essential body functions, such as body temperature, metabolism, heart rate, etc. Untreated hypothyroidism can cause a condition called myxedema, which can be life-threatening. Have you talked to your doctor about switching from synthroid/cytomel to a desiccated hormone, such as Armour or the Canadian ERFA?
147426 tn?1317269232 People with MS have a hugely disproportionate brith rate in the month of May over the month of November, which is the loswest for people with MS.. For a long time this merely sat as an oddity that was seen in all such surveys. Of course, people with MS' birthmonths represent all of the months, but there is that high and low in May and November. Recently I have heard some interesting theories on it.

Avatar m tn The NP just repeated what she was told or heard somewhere about loss of bone. A low TSH cannot cause bone loss. If she is concerned that the low TSH means you have become hyper, that is incorrect. There are scientific studies showing that a majority of hypo patients have suppressed TSH when taking adequate doses of thyroid meds. So, if the low TSH is supposed to mean tht your thyroid levels are too high, then how come your Free T3 and Free T4 are at the very low end of the ranges.
Avatar n tn Or protein shakes, some are soy based and some are based on egg protein (others I'm not sure what they put in them)...whatever works that you can tolerate. And as an aside, remember that ribavirin absorption is greatly enhanced by consuming it with a fat rich meal or snack (it doesn't have to be animal fat, vegetable fat works too).
443434 tn?1255894833 Hi thankyou for your reply, This all kicked off for me last august so its been a year now I wish this would just go away I am much better but still there are these lingering problems, im glad your hands are much better, ive now figured out that the shakes were helping because of the protein content if I eat only protein my hands are much better.
Avatar m tn I would add some protein say whey protein to your diet, because you seem to be low in proteins but we do need to be slightly protein positive.
Avatar n tn I could do it with nuts, but I cann0t eat nuts, because I am reactive to tyramine rich food. I cannot eat protein, other than animal protein. If I could in this way body used to forget this issue. If I eat protein, sugar increased before bed time, because it releases sugar later Please suggest me what can I eat.
Avatar n tn For the past several years I have noticed that after eating food (which ranges from just a cup of milk to a full meal) that my heart rate and blood pressure increases significantly about 30 minutes after eating, and it lasts for about one and 1/2 hours to two hours. This occurs about 50% of the time after eating. My heart rate goes from ~75 bpm up to 140 bmp (max todate), and the blood pressure goes from 130/80 up to 180/102 (max to date).
Avatar f tn (Alternatively, you can consume an extra two or three glasses of low-fat milk every day, since milk has the appropriate balance of carbohydrates to protein.) Following my dietary plan during pregnancy will ensure adequate protein for both you and your fetus, and the increased consumption of fruits and vegetables will supply the necessary micronutrients for both.
1916673 tn?1420236870 It would certainly be better to alter the diet a little, paying as much attention as you can to high quality protein (versus low quality protein) and foods that are low in phosphorus. Tinned kd food is good, because although it has protein, it's usually high quality protein, and low in phosphorus. Salt is another issue, and I'm pleased you are using filtered water as that will prevent him getting too much via that source. White rice is fine.
Avatar n tn It supresses gluconeogenesis or the creation of sugar from protein. 58% of protein we coinsume gets converted to carbs. It's even high when we eat a big steak, fill our gut, and secrete extra glucagon. But they don't tell you this. "It's insignificant!" Bull f*cking sh|t! Ya, I've been 911'd nine times in my life from severe hypos. They almost lost me once. I now run a 5.9% A1C with very few hypos, and the ones I have are minor. It's not the insulin.
Avatar n tn Should we be looking at type of insulin? She presently talkes Lantus and Humalog. Does high protein help? Her weight is in her back across her shoulders, in her middle and thighs. She usually injects in her stomach and sometimes her thighs. Does site matter? Any suggestions would be so appreciated. Thank you.
