1051017 tn?1349636853 maybe bacon once in awhile...no red meat....not much pork. So I do have a hard time eating healthy. I will tell you though that I didn't really do anything special during my pregnancies and all my babies have been healthy. I just made sure to take my prenatal vitamins all the time....if you aren't already it wouldn't hurt to go ahead and start taking them NOW.

Avatar m tn At 3 years old she seems to wants to eat healthy, which is a good. You can show her how to eat healthy by being the role model not her brothers. If you do not have too much money, suggest buying only foods that are healthy and not 'junk' food. Eat a Heart Healthy diet which means a moderate fat diet to lower the fat content of your foods, increase ‘good’ fats to benefit your body, and cheaper when on a food budget.
Avatar f tn Any veggie ladies out there? Any tricks or tips you've used to stay healthy during your pregnancy? Very been on chia seeds at the moment to get the omega 3s! Generally, I'm very healthy- eating organic, staying away from processed foods, taking my vitamins, daily moderate exercise, all that good stuff. Also my labs have always looked great. Just wondering if anyone has any tips I can work into my diet . Thanks in advance!!!
1403867 tn?1281009744 So, I know that the common healthy weight loss goal is about 2lbs per week. Is there a different recommended weight loss goal per week for women with PCOS? Also, does anyone have any tips for how to deal with the emotional trip of not losing weight as fast as others/you would like?
Avatar n tn Eating a low carb diet is the best option. Eat lean protien sources like fish, chicken, beef. For essential fats eat salmon, olive oil, almonds. the only carbs should come from fruit and vegetables. Drink only water not juice.
Avatar n tn Hello, I weigh 98 pds, might be underweight. Have been small all my life tho. I am against eating meat, only eat fish, chix & turkey. I am considering not eating chix either (turkey only at Thanksgiving) and considering now cutting out dairy. My concern is I don't want to lose weight and want to be healthy re: nutrients. I am torn between doing the right thing & taking care of my body.
Avatar f tn I was vegetarian for yrs before pregnancy but im eating small amounts of meat now only because I wasn't getting the recommended amount of protein during pregnancy. However, you can have a very healthy pregnancy while being vegetarian, you can find lots of info about proper diet/nutrition online. Its also normal to have not gained any weight that early in pregnancy.
535822 tn?1443976780 If I go vegetarian wont I simply be eating carbs I thought that one had to eat protein to balance it out ,I have been eating more chicken and have felt better . I would take Omega 3 but what ever supplements I take I seem to feel bad or get stomach upsets except for Vit C ...someone suggested I use liquid supplements instead of tablets .I am trying to educate myself a lot by reading and googling , coming here for advice others have is also helpful to me ,thank you ..
Avatar f tn I am a former vegetarian of 5 years. When I was a vegetarian I was not being very responsible in regards to getting adequate nutrition which caused my thyroid to become imbalanced. I lost 15 pounds in one month, and I didn’t weigh very much to being with. I felt very, very sick and consequently started eating meat again. I still feel that animal abuse is wrong, but you can get meat from local farmers where you know how the animals are treated.
Avatar f tn Not everyone is suited to be a vegetarian, and just eating a vegetarian diet isn't the same as eating a vegetarian diet that suits who you are. Whatever effects this will have on your kids won't be noticed until they're older -- young people are very adaptable. There are certain nutrients, such as B12 and methionine, which are very difficult to get on a vegetarian diet. Now, in India, vegetarians aren't really vegetarians at all, they eat a fair amount of dairy.
Avatar f tn Do an Internet search for high protein vegetarian meals. I couldn't eat meat for awhile and found some really yummy options, like cheese lasagna or a bean and cheese quesadilla. Quinoa is also a really high protein grain.
Avatar m tn Im 29 years old,Have had Hep C for 20 years,Last Biopsy 2 years ago showed Stage 1 grade 1.Recently I gave up eating all kinds of meat for the last 4 months. Now that I have stopped eating meat altogether will that make things a little less stressful on my liver?Anyway any info would be great thanks.
Avatar m tn Turmeric is a wonderful anti-inflammatory and helpful for the liver, but it's also a hot herb and some people with GERD will be adversely affected by it if they don't take well to hot herbs. Everyone is different. As to the original poster, leaning toward vegetarian doesn't say anything about whether your diet is healthy for you or not. Some people do well that way, some don't.
Avatar m tn Some are not suited to be vegetarians while others are very suited to it. But eating well involves eating healthy foods at the proper times, and going long periods between meals, as I mentioned, is a trigger for migraines. How long have you been eating irregularly is a question you might want to ask yourself. And are you getting exercise, as it helps to even circulation. So does meditation, by the way.
Avatar n tn Hey there. I have a very overweight friend. Guess what happened when she got pregnant? She lost a bit of weight. :>)) That's really common. Because you burn more calories when pregnant. You don't need to eat any more in terms of quantity or calories --- but have a pregnancy going which burns more. Make sure you get lots of protein when vegan/vegetarian and you should be good. Keep exercising and yes, don't diet. Just don't increase how much you eat.
Avatar n tn Im a vegetarian and very healthy. Everyone comes to me for health advice. And I love vegetables. But for the last two weeks (im at 7.5 weeks) all I can stomach is everything Id never eat: bread, egg mcmuffins, marble cheese with pickles, kd with tuna and tomatos, doritos. Am I harming my baby if this is all the 'nutrients' im providing at the beginning of their growth???
Avatar f tn Is it easier to lose weight being a vegetarian? I am trying to stay away from red meat, or meat in general. I eat dairy products and vegetarian foods. I really don't miss the meat. If anyone knows of a vegetarian weight loss diet I would really appreciate it. S.
Avatar f tn I have been a vegetarian for 17 years and am happy with that. However, sometimes I feel low in energy, especially as I often stand/am constantly on my feet for long hours at work. What's the best way to give myself the energy I need for those 10-14 hour work days? I find it hard to get motivated in the morning so need something to energize me for breakfast and then continually throughout the day. I love cooking and smoothies and would rather eat real food over taking supplements.
1063764 tn?1272821064 Hypothyroidism includes a lot of different ailments. If it's Hashimoto's, it's an immune system disorder, for example. If it isn't an immune system disorder, it's most likely an iodine deficiency, which can be treated with seaweed, usually bladderwrack and kelp or kombu or hijiki. Every vegetarian should be eating seaweed anyway, since it's a good source of minerals. But the unsaid truth is, some people do great as vegetarians, and some don't.
1276890 tn?1271027818 I am afraid that I should incorporate some fish and some good fats in my diet because not eating any will take a toll on my body. But everyone has a different opinion on what fats are really good. I wanna find out which ones I should really be eating for my body to function right and how to slowly get them back into what I eat every day. I would really appreciate someone's help thanks!
1201598 tn?1265473722 You are going to have to work a little harder to get that protein in but it can be done. Do your homework and study up on a vegetarian lifestyle. Some ways you can get protein is soy, nuts and beans. My teenage daughter wanted to be a vegetarian for a few years so I had to learn how to cook vegetarian. She's not doing it so much anymore but I still use soy, like the soy crumbles in soups or the firm tofu in veggie stir fries. She also likes the Boca burgers, which is a soy burger.
