Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone on the forum thinks that telling the VA that i am drug addicted could come back to hurt me somehow later in life.I have an appointment on the 15th of this month. thanks for any help.
Avatar n tn I takee a portion of my compensation and pay for the methadone clinic myself because the va here has a zero tolerance policy on drug addiction tough love type situation which isn't helpful at all. They threaten me with review of my case . But find me a vet with full blown ptsd that doesn't self medicate and ill show you a fraudulent claim.
Avatar f tn i have free care at the va or i can go back on medicare im on social surcity i stoped it becaue i thought the va was gonna help me and there treating me like a drug bag. i do agree the fentanyl wasnt for me and i will be happy to be off it as it is controling my like but what are my options. sorry carring one i am a mess. oh and i cant take morphine i itch like crazy . and percacet depresses me. she is talking about adding cymbalta to my meds if the va will approve it.
Avatar f tn I heard from the Pharmacy today. We signed all the paper work to start treatment with teleprivir and the two others. The Hepatologist tried to get it through the VA but couldn't. VA never treated pretransplant and we went out of VA to get the transplant. The pharmacy was so shocked that VA wouldn't pay for the drugs. The Pharm Co's are providing the meds.. Pretransplant my husband read about it until he was to encephaloptic to concentrate.
645800 tn?1466860955 Of course while I was up at the VA I got a call at home from the VA. It was the rehab clinic calling to have me come in for a fit for crutches and training in using them before the surgey. At this rate I should should just move in to the VA as I'm spending all of my time there. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to do the rehab clinic next Friday before the LP as it is scheduled for 10AM. And I sure won't be able to do it afterwards.
Avatar f tn i agree you need to go to rehab....it wll help you in court. but, more than that you can come out of rehab clean and continue to stay that way. there is great support here but i agree na meetings are good too. good luck and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn WOW 6 80s a day thats quite a habit...I dont understand if you told them at the drug rehab you shooting them up there would be no question of abuse something dosent sound right here...well there are 2 avenues to take here if you still got a bunch left you could taper off some and get down to a lower dose then jump off and hang on the withdrawals are doable but no fun....plan 2 is just to jump off C/T and bit the bullet you will be sick for a week but you will not dye from it...
Avatar m tn If you have your VA benifiets, your entilitled to life long health care. The VA has excellent detox and rehab facilities all over the country. It would probebly cost you next to nothing. If your seriose about quiting, give them a call, find out what they can do for you. Wishin you the best of luck, you have a great story by the way.
Avatar n tn Has anyone every been to rehab for drug addiction? If so...I would like to chat with you about my nephew who had to be taken to rehab after an overdose of Xanax.
Avatar m tn When you get your appointment with your primary care physician, ask for a referral to the VA physical rehab unit. They have an excellent program that will teach you exercises to diminish the pain, separate the vertebra, increase muscle tone and relieve pressure on the nerves. They will provide you with a TENS device for pain, and transdermal lidocaine patches. The lidocaine patches are not in the VA system so there will be a small review before they are approved.
Avatar m tn In the process im becoming dependnt on xanax also. It is it horrible cylce and i feel trapd n this drug. I am constantly around it so it makes tryn to stay clean that much harder. I guess what im asking for is some advice and support.
425104 tn?1203633543 The withdrawals are different for everybody. I wasn't taking oxy, but hydrocodone. I felt completely back to normal after day 10. Once day 5 hit I was feeling great though. Just remember that everyone is different. You might be surprised. Was it you that said the VA wouldn't put you in rehab for your addiction? If so, who did you talk to at the VA? I myself go to the VA and might have some advice. As to quiting the pills, just set a date and do it! The worst will be over in about 5 days.
Avatar m tn He was out for 1 hour and passed his drug test.He does not like rehab and to be honest i thought he would have left by now.But he is so determind to be drug free ,im proud of him as i always thought the worst would happen to James .He finds the meetins hard and to open up but i think that will come in time.Frank says its got to come from James and will eventually come. James will be 1 week clean tomorrow. And over the worst of physical w/dsHe still feels agitated when pushed.
20832858 tn?1527961450 Find yourself a good rehab, I was on Xanax for 23 years and I found a good treatment center stayed there for 18 day , now I have a month clean and feeling great
1016618 tn?1420553262 Went and filed for VA Medical benefits today. They said I make to much money but they also said I could file for help cause I was a veteran of the Vietnam era. I was in the Marine Corps from 1972 to 1975. Anyone get any assistance from the VA that is under like circustance?
Avatar m tn So, you’re right to look for cheap rehab centers. You don’t have to break into a bank or go broke in the name of getting off drug and alcohol addiction.
Avatar f tn s on all sorts of rheumatoid arthritis meds one of which is intraveineous drug and which lowers his immunity to other drugs as well as infections, etc. VA has just this week prescribed a sleeping pill but can't remember the name right now (something like mertizepane) He's got restless legs every night, can't sleep, pains in all joints that the arthritis meds aren't helping since he started the Oxyies. I'm not "allowed" into the living room so can't look.
Avatar f tn s worth it! Ask JR - he had entire left side paralysis and was told by VA Rehab (after 5 months of rehab) that they didn't know of anything else that would help him. After 4 months on an eVO motor assisted stationary cycle he began regaining movement. He's been on it for over a year and is back to work. He is still doing his own therapy and adjusting how he does it to get the outcome he wants. See Assistive Therapy Solutions eVO video 3 on the front page. You have to keep moving!
Avatar f tn I just noticed you live in VA I work in northern VA - i work in Manassas and live near warrenton- I know there is a lot of good places here and i hope she gets better - I am so glad she was found and hope she gets clean - coke can put you into a whole different life and make you do things you wouldn't when you are clean
645800 tn?1466860955 ed me this drug he sent over to the VA a detailed explanation of the what and why of it in order to get it approved by the VA (Non-Formulary) along with what needed to be checked in the way of blood work. This is all listed in my medical records so that when I need a refill of it the information is on hand. It took a little over a month to get it filled the first time as the VA and my Neuro went back and forth on all of this.
645800 tn?1466860955 It is not my doctor that is changing it, but the VA administration. The VA is turning out to be as bad as an HMO ib ny opinion. Interfering with the doctor patient relationship by deciding what medication I should be using without any input from my doctor, YES the letter actually states that they are going to inform my doctor that they have changed my medication. END OF RANT!!!!
