Avatar m tn I put blistex med and iced it and it went down in inflammation as well. I am also taking a nootropic to calm down the nervous system for another condition that is also acts as an antiviral. So it could be suppressing a full blown outbreak. My urine also burns on occasion, I will have that checked out soon. Hopefully it is a uti or something that antibiotics can cure. Avatar f tn Nootropics or brain-enhancing drugs were considered to have a very few side-effects. Racetams ( Oxiracetm) are sometimes cited as an example of a Nootropic with few effects and however, any substance ingested could produce harmful effects. An unapproved drug or dietary supplement does not have to have safety or efficacy approval before being sold.
Avatar m tn Hello there, Nootropic drugs like Piracetam or analeptic drug such as Modafinil could help you with this problem. A diet including Omega-3 is also to be considered.
Avatar m tn Nootropil, Qropi, Myocalm, Dinagen, Synaptine) is a nootropic. It is a dietary supplement which is claimed to enhance cognition and memory, slow down brain aging, increase blood flow and oxygen to the brain, aid stroke recovery, and improve Alzheimer's, Down syndrome, dementia, and dyslexia, among others.[1] Piracetam's chemical name is 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidine acetamide; it shares the same 2-oxo-pyrrolidone base structure with 2-oxo-pyrrolidine carboxylic acid (pyroglutamate).
Avatar m tn Hello. My name is Paul. I'm 19, male. I have a quite annoying problem. It is similar to anxiety of some kind. In definite moments, for instance, when I worry a bit or think about some thinks I fear, or (sorry for the details) look at a girl when I'm somewhere in the city, or just at home, I get a feeling of some tingling or burning in my chest and stomach. My heartbeat raises and I can hear my heart. A panic, discomfort, fear for something appears.
Avatar m tn As of what I’ve found from a week or so of research, a nootropic can be helpful but harmful if taken in high dosages or for an extended period of time. So it would be a more temporary solution during finals week. But I am more interested in a long term solution. Possibly a healthy daily dosage of ginkgo biloba, ginseng and omag-3 mixed with some green tea in the morning. I have only recently looked into supplements and am not to sure on their effectiveness.
Avatar f tn So I do not have adhd but was using adderall for nootropic properties then it got out of hand.
Avatar f tn Hello, Short term memory loss after brain surgery is more common than you might think. Let me break this into a two part answer, first the basic info about standard approaches, and second, what I have seen happen over the years working with patients that had brain trauma from different sources; First, Rehabilitation after brain tumor surgery that results in memory loss typically involves psychotherapy and cognitive therapy.
Avatar n tn Phenytoin (Dilantin et al) works best with me. It's off patent and about 70 years on the market. Low doses best. These repetitive thoughts are a brain electrical problem (inappropriate electrical activity), and while not as intense a problem as epilepsy, they can be treated the same way. I take 50 - 100 mg as a dose and it smoothes those intrusions and does NOT make me tired or have noticeable side effects except feeling normal.
Avatar m tn She is taking hydralazine 50mg for high BP, Sertraline 25mg for depression, Nitrofur Mac 50mg for UTI, Donepezil 10mg for memory loss, and Novolin for high blood sugar. We also have a PT that comes to her house but that is not really helping.
338416 tn?1420045702 Well, as you all know, I've been taking 5mg of donepezil a day for my cognitive impairment. I'm on #4 today. Interestingly, I feel like I might have had a mini-flare at the beginning of the week (or maybe it was the allergies) - but despite that, my brain feels more 'on.' I'm remembering stuff better, and I'm able to stay on task better. I drove last night, and I felt safer - less distracted, more able to concentrate on driving.
Avatar n tn Here goes... I have been seeing several doctors (all cross referred) and all are perplexed (thier words). Meanwhile I am confused, frustrated and suffering. I am a married 53yo tall otherwise avg male. Until 18mo ago I was in good health, very active, and a college professor. I do not drink or do drugs. I am now unable to work or do most of the activities I once enjoyed. My mother died of cancer and my father died ostensibly from alcohol induced cerebral ataxia.
1130586 tn?1316266292 Wondering if anyone has experience with nootropic supplements ? These are so called "smart drugs" ... after 60 wks. P/R Tx .. need all the smarts I can get .... For 3 days I've been trying a synthetic B1 supplement here called Arcalion - active component is sulbutiamine ... So far I can say for me the results are pretty good .. less brain fog , more energy & motivation .. improved QOL ... I use less than the suggested dose of 400-800 mg per day ..
Avatar m tn Well good questions you have there. First of all Seroxat have anticholinergic effects. This can have effect on your acetylcholine (only neurotransmitter used in the motor division of the somatic nervous system with various effect on memory and learning). Any medication that will have a anticholinergic effect may induce memory and learning problem, cognitive impairment since acetylcholine is so important in cognitive function. Seroxat, yes possible cognitive impairments.
Avatar m tn I’d say that to someone myself if I didn’t know how f*caked up a “kratom” legal nootropic drug would be. Then I see some people using kratom to get off suboxone. Shortttt term it might work. Long term just the vicious circle. I was the biggest Kratom advocate for 2+ years it alleviates my cravings and anxiety. Now it’s just induced anxiety or anxiety in between doses. That’s where the Lipsomal vitamin C comes in. It doesn’t directly help anxiety, but it kills toxins that cause anxiety.
Avatar m tn I did not mean supplement like it's natural or anything like that, it's a nootropic drug still but you can get it just like a supplement with no prescription.
455605 tn?1206051065 So, your doctors are actually not wrong when they say they will try a second drug if the first one does not work. Memantine and Donepezil are the two most commonly used drugs. Which one are you using? I would like to go back to 1993 and reassess your situation. I agree with you that AD has been a blanket diagnosis quite often, especially when the health professionals are not used to identify and treat AD.
Avatar f tn You can ask to your doctor about modafinil. It's a ''wake-promoting'', not a CNS stimulant like amphetamine, drug and used off-label as a nootropic (smart drug) due to it's positive effect on energy, memory and learning. It's impact on energy is similar to caffeine in the studies. I tried it myself and had no problem on it, better than caffeine ,in my humble opinion, and also you don't have to take it all day unlike caffeine.
338416 tn?1420045702 Depending on the level of funcctional impairment she is experiencing at this time, you may want to consider a trial of donepezil. However, it is my understanding that the patient requested the present evaluation fin order to provide a baseline for future reference. She should be referred at appropriate intervals per your discretion for comparative testing and tracking.
Avatar f tn Compared with tacrine, donepezil, and rivastigmine, HupA has better penetration through the blood-brain barrier, higher oral bioavailability, and longer duration of AChE inhibitory action. HupA has been found to improve cognitive deficits in a broad range of animal models. HupA possesses the ability to protect cells against hydrogen peroxide, beta-amyloid protein (or peptide), glutamate, ischemia and staurosporine-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis.
