Avatar f tn The LD50 for Water is 90g/kg. But when does nerve damage occur, if you trink too much water at once? When does it become toxic? Empirical data is also appreciated...
Avatar m tn Besides Clonazepan, Solof, Lorazepan, Divalproex, Citalopran, Donepezil,Divalproex, Enalapril, Carb/Levo tab she started taking Ziprasidone four weeks ago. Please tell me if she should stop taking some of those medications.
Avatar f tn However, Italian researchers have found that the LD50 (the lethal dose at which half of the animals die) of glucosamine sulfate is 8000 mg/kg. In humans this would be equivalent to ingesting over 500,000 mg at one time or 1,000 pills each containing 500 mg. I hope this is useful... I got the idea from the site that max safe dose is 1500mg, and your dog had twice that much. You may want to see the vet anyway, even tho it says in the previous paragraph that a lethal dose is 8000mg.
Avatar m tn She is not alcoholically person and never drink in her live. She has heart disease and take atorvastatin for 10 years and also donepezil and ladiomil for 4 years. Since her doctor discover problem with GOT and GPT she stopped taking atorvastatin (3mounts before) because they were suspicious that atorvastatin was reason for this problem but again GOP and GPT increase. Next step was cancer marker (CA19-9 = 34.4, AST = 5.47, CEA=3.22) and virus markers (HBsAg Es = 0.13 negative, Anti-HCV = 0.

Avatar m tn This only becomes an issue if you are taking mega-doses of those vitamins and lose a lot of weight - suddenly, your body could be overdosed - there is an LD50 listing for vitamin A of 2000 mg/kg - LD = lethal dose, LD50 = 50% of the population will die at that dose, 2000 milligrams per kilogram of body weight. Anyone who tells you that herbs will not hurt you is just wrong.
Avatar m tn I know that this forum isn't adequate for my question but I am new to this site please forgive me for this. I am 17 years old, and 80 kg. My issue is I have just taken accidentally 10 grams of paracetamol aka acetaminophen I've just read that the ld50 is >250mg/kg so by this it means that the dose for me to die is 20 grams. Will I be safe for the next 24 hours because I can't seek any medical help for this time, what should I do? I am really scared.
Avatar f tn Some meds need to be separated by a short period of time. I guess these are more specifically SSRI's and MAOI's. I didn't see a major problem with the meds being taken consecutively. This should always be at the discretion of ones doctor though. I guess I neglected to emphasize the importance of only ever making medication changes after consultation with the treating physician. There are a number of factors to consider when changing meds. Withdrawal is only one.
Avatar f tn Hello, Short term memory loss after brain surgery is more common than you might think. Let me break this into a two part answer, first the basic info about standard approaches, and second, what I have seen happen over the years working with patients that had brain trauma from different sources; First, Rehabilitation after brain tumor surgery that results in memory loss typically involves psychotherapy and cognitive therapy.
Avatar m tn She is taking hydralazine 50mg for high BP, Sertraline 25mg for depression, Nitrofur Mac 50mg for UTI, Donepezil 10mg for memory loss, and Novolin for high blood sugar. We also have a PT that comes to her house but that is not really helping.
338416 tn?1420045702 Well, as you all know, I've been taking 5mg of donepezil a day for my cognitive impairment. I'm on #4 today. Interestingly, I feel like I might have had a mini-flare at the beginning of the week (or maybe it was the allergies) - but despite that, my brain feels more 'on.' I'm remembering stuff better, and I'm able to stay on task better. I drove last night, and I felt safer - less distracted, more able to concentrate on driving.
Avatar n tn Here goes... I have been seeing several doctors (all cross referred) and all are perplexed (thier words). Meanwhile I am confused, frustrated and suffering. I am a married 53yo tall otherwise avg male. Until 18mo ago I was in good health, very active, and a college professor. I do not drink or do drugs. I am now unable to work or do most of the activities I once enjoyed. My mother died of cancer and my father died ostensibly from alcohol induced cerebral ataxia.
455605 tn?1206051065 So, your doctors are actually not wrong when they say they will try a second drug if the first one does not work. Memantine and Donepezil are the two most commonly used drugs. Which one are you using? I would like to go back to 1993 and reassess your situation. I agree with you that AD has been a blanket diagnosis quite often, especially when the health professionals are not used to identify and treat AD.
338416 tn?1420045702 Depending on the level of funcctional impairment she is experiencing at this time, you may want to consider a trial of donepezil. However, it is my understanding that the patient requested the present evaluation fin order to provide a baseline for future reference. She should be referred at appropriate intervals per your discretion for comparative testing and tracking.
Avatar f tn Compared with tacrine, donepezil, and rivastigmine, HupA has better penetration through the blood-brain barrier, higher oral bioavailability, and longer duration of AChE inhibitory action. HupA has been found to improve cognitive deficits in a broad range of animal models. HupA possesses the ability to protect cells against hydrogen peroxide, beta-amyloid protein (or peptide), glutamate, ischemia and staurosporine-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis.
Avatar f tn (which have now been restricted to clinic/in-person use only, which I wholly approve of BTW), could very well stand a chance of approaching LD50 for an opiate naive person. 6 pills in 48 hours for a relatively opiate naive person could also enter ld50 territory. Weight doesn't much to do with propensity to die from N dose.
1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, You out-did yourself with this article,.....Excellent! Of course, I loved the opening picture of the 'Weim'. You covered 'Every' angle in the never ending attempt to find the best 'Cure' for our Pets when it comes to fleas/ticks/etc..
Avatar f tn When I read the LD50 dose is at 9.5grams and I exceeded that for at least three days in a row. From what I read I really won't know if I have killed myself until Saturday or Sunday.
1253246 tn?1332073310 The 50% lethal dose (LD50) after intravenous infusion values are 400 mg/kg in mice, 385 mg/kg in rats and 140 mg/kg in rabbits and dogs. These data demonstrate that the acute toxicity of silymarin is very low.[citation needed] Similarly, its subacute and chronic toxicity are very low; the compound is also devoid of embryotoxic potential.
