Avatar f tn Hi! Could you help me with a question on birth control pills? I was on a triphasic pill for years (Tri Sprintec). It was good for keeping acne under control (which is why I originally went on it at age 20). But in the last few years I began suffering from extreme fatigue, lots of water retention, vaginal dryness, etc, and as all my tests were normal my PCP suggested the pill was causing it.
Avatar m tn Yesterday my dermatologist prescribed me 25mg Spironolactone 2xD and Tri-Sprintec BCP to help clear my skin up. I trust her judgement with placing me on both of those medications, but what worries me is that it may be too much of a hormone change for my body. I know that birth control pills increase estrogen levels in the body and that spironolactone is an antiandrogen drug, and naturally the body will replace androgens with estrogen.
Avatar f tn which was about 3 months ago I started taking Tri-Sprintec birth-control and I had an AWFUL reaction to it and turns out I was allergic to the high dosage of the acne-clearer in it. Last month I switched to YAZ. But, when I first started with the Tri- Sprintec I noticed these bumps which looked a bit like herpes but I don't know for sure in my mouth near my uvula and they are spreading in the back of my mouth. My stomach and abdomen have been acting up and I dont know what is wrong.

Avatar f tn They say i have symptoms of pcos (facial hair and acne) they tested me and my DHEAS LEVEL and TESTOSTERONE were kinda high but all my other hormones were fine. So they started me on SPRINTEC N SPIRONPROLACTONE and i was wondering will this help or do i need to try METFORMIN OR CLOMID.... i also have a cyst on my right ovary. What is the next step for me.
Avatar f tn Diagnosed with PCOS as well. I was placed on Metformin 1000 mg twice a day (and not bc I am over weight or diabetic) insulin resistance can be an issue with PCOS. Clomide is prescribed if you are not ovulating so if you need help to ovulate that is a medication you can ask to be placed on. If your progestrone levels are low and may be a cause for MC they can place you on progestrone suppositories or oral progestrone. Usually will take the until completing the first trimester.
Avatar f tn I went on the pill for the same reason when I was 16. It didn't really make a difference with my acne, but it helped to regulate my periods and made them lighter, and more managable. But my acne got better as I got older. I also used acne cream from my pharmacist, if you go in and ask them, they will normally give you one from behind the counter, they are stronger than the ones you can pick up yourself, but not as strong as if they doctor was to prescribe it for you. Hopefully this helps!

Avatar n tn Is tri-sprintec a bc pill? If so, you likely confused your body by going on and then off, I wouldn't worry too much. If you still dont get your period in a week test again. BTW- just because he didn't come in you doesn't mean you cant be pregnant, there is pre-*** and it can get you pregnant. If you dont want to be pregnant get on some bc and stay on it.
Avatar f tn Hi Kay, Here is something you may find intresting Tri-Sprintec contains female hormones and therefore alters your female gynecological symptoms. Tri-Sprintec typically causes nausea, bloating, stomach cramps, breast pain, vaginal discharge, menstrual irregularities and changes in your appetite and weight. Tri-Sprintec can affect your appearance and cause increased hair growth, loss of hair or freckling of your skin. It can cause nervousness, a headache and fatigue.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am on generic Sprintec 28 birth control. I recently started my period today, it has a clear mucus mixed in. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn I have been on tri-sprintec for 2 months. This sunday i will be starting my third pack of pills. So right now I'm on the sugar pills and this will be my third day taking them. I haven't started my period yet. My boyfriend and I just had sex last week and we used a condom a couple times but we also didn't use one. He pulled out every time even when we used a condom. Could i be pregnant or do you think i'll start my period soon?
Avatar m tn I just started using the birth control Sprintec a week ago. I had a stroke on Monday. I cannot walk well, but other than that I have recovered quickly. I will be 20 on Saturday. I am only 19. I want to know how many others are out there who have taken sprintec and either had a TIA or a stroke due the birth control...is there anyone else?
Avatar n tn Hello, if a person takes their birth control (Tri Sprintec) every night at 9pm, but forgets to take it at 9pm one night and has sex from 930pm to 1030pm, and then remembers to take it again at 12 midnight (3 hours late), is there a chance for pregnancy?
Avatar n tn You can check the instructions to be sure, but I am 99% sure that with Sprintec you are supposed to take all missed pills at the same time. Continue taking them for the rest of the month, but use condoms as back up. Take a pregnancy test on the first day of your next expected period.
Avatar f tn I get the bumps quite often. Instead of being filled with pus, like most regular acne, mine are filled with blood. Squeezing or popping them is much more painful than popping a pimple and only makes them worse and more prone to scarring. I've found a product called Prosacea that works quite well to keep the condition from flaring, as long as I use it daily. If I skip a few days, I get the painful bumps back again.
Avatar n tn How are you? Acne is a skin condition that affects many children. In some cases, people with mild acne do not take any medications and usually goes in time without scarring. If there is no improvement, see your dermatologist for proper evaluation and treatment of acne. Proper diet, cleansing of the face and avoidance in touching the face can help with this condition from progressing. Avatar f tn im on sprintec or sprintee
Avatar n tn Hi everyone,I am 6 weeks pregnant with my first and I am getting the worst Acne which is driving me crazy. Not only does it look terrible but it hurts alot. Can anyone recommend some remedies to help my situation?
Avatar f tn Definitely sounds like side effect of your birth control. Irregular bleeding is a common side effect of not taking your pill as directed.
Avatar n tn Have you spoken to your daughter about starting her on birth control? I know it wont stop the fainting, nausea and cold sweats but it should help with the heavy periods, hair and acne. Some women are just born with more testosterone thus causing darker thicker hair. Birth control has different side effects for each woman however it cleared up my face, lightened and regulated my periods, helped me loose weight and made me generally happier. Try speaking to your doctor about this.
