Avatar m tn After adequate anesthesia is achieved, the procedure can begin. So, if your wife does not want a general anaesthesia, she can opt for a regional or epidural or a spinal anaesthesia. If a local anesthetic has been used, there may be no pain at all immediately after the procedure. Hope this information helps. Best.
Avatar n tn While myocardial perfusion imaging greatly enhances the sensitivity and specificity of exercise testing, false positive and negative results are known to occur. False negative imaging is especially common when exercise is submaximal or in dipyridamole/adenosine studies of patients with severe obstructions of all three major coronary vessels. False positive scanning may be caused by signal attenuation from an elevated left hemidiaphragm or from breast tissue.

Avatar m tn - Should this isotope testing be done after catheterization? What new infromation could be gained from that? - Since adenosine or dobutamine be used as stimulants, what kind of danger could it be? I read some articles on PubMed saying that adenosine/dobutamine can cause things from AV block to ventricular fibrillation.
Avatar f tn Persantine is dipyridamole, but you will have to get extended release tablets as the two asprin and dipyridamole should not be taken together. Don’t change the medications without discussing with your doctor. So, consult him and then decide. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn What is nonreversible apical inferior wall and what does it mean when they say no dipyridamole-induced reversible ischemia .there is mild defect in the apical inferior wall that is not reversible at rest.
Avatar f tn Hi Sharlene, I really did not know the answer to your question but would have guessed that there would be no problem with anaesthesia. I have had concious sedation a few times recently with no problems. So I went looking and found this on the NMSS site ........ "Surgery The majority of people with MS are young, otherwise healthy adults, whose risks during elective surgical procedures are about the same as the general population. MS is generally not a reason to avoid having surgery.
Avatar f tn After injecting me once he put the same needle in the anaesthesia multidose vial and injected me again. He might have done it with other patients too. So is there any chance that he contaminated the anaesthesia bottle with hiv or other dangerous virus.. Am I at risk of hiv contamination from used needle or used anaesthesia.
Avatar n tn Some of the alternatives include aspirin, Clopidogrel (Plavix), ticlodipine (Ticlid), dipyridamole (Persantine). Another alternative is Heparin injection. Different situations require different levels of anticoagulation. It is important to discuss the best treatment option with a physician.
Avatar f tn I suffered a mild stroke (blood clot) Consultant prescribed Clopidogrel but cannot tolerate side effects. Then consultant prescribed Dipyridamole. I cannot tolerate this either. Severe headache, vomiting and diarrhoea. Has anybody got a different medication they are on?

Avatar f tn Thanks for the prompt reply! I am pretty new with this eye and I never heard about IOL identification card. I'll ask. They're pretty cool where I went. I will say this, though- I will never have that "twilight" anaesthesia again. I could feel everything and it became beyond "uncomfortable". If I wasn't tied down I would have grabbed his arm or punched him.
Avatar m tn My 5 yr old son needs quite extensive dental work probably about 6 extractions, some fillings and coatings etc. He weigh about 41 lbs. Dentists asked us parents to choose between sedation (3 -4 sessions on the clinic setting) or general anaesthesia (in 1 sitting at the OR); Either one we are nervous for our son. Any opinion on which one will work better for him and for us? Any points about local anaesthesia? Can his body tolerate the general one?
Avatar n tn This requires an MRI, and because of her age, she would have to be under general anaesthesia. I really do not like the sound of that. I was wondering if it is imperative that she get the MRI, or if it would be something that is just for a diagnosis, and it won't hurt her to not have it, or at least put it off for a couple of years. If the condition is indeed CN6 Palsy, is that something that will get worse or pose a serious medical problem for her?
Avatar n tn I am little scared of this surgical procedure anaesthesia and all that.. as all my tests are normal is this test is really required? Is it safe?
Avatar n tn This is due to the Epidural anaesthesia problems. Some people have problem with spinal anaesthesia and some have problems due to effects of anaesthesia. As she is slowly regaining strength nothing to worry and do some Physiotherapy to hasten her progress. Take care!
Avatar n tn I had the same reactions as abrite above --- iced my wrists and ankles and my hands and feet weren't too bad but did have terrible skin reactions === found out my doctor was being very aggressive with the dosage and after he reduced it on the 5th cycle had no problems with hands and feet due to icing them, and skin problems weren't as bad. Also had the Doxil in clinical trials five years ago and was told to ice then and it worked. Go to Doxil.
Avatar n tn I have 3 children and had epidurals with all of them, and was wondering if anyone has had this kind of surgery done under epidural/regional/spinal anaesthesia instead of general.
Avatar n tn ECG last month showed SVES, RBBB. This week he has stress test with dipyridamole protocol, and injection of thallium-201. The result showed "evidence of mild, small to medium size, irreversible perfusion defect in the inferior/inferolateral wall (mid to basal level)." Could you explain what this means? Does he need to have surgery or pacemaker? thanks in advance for your help.
Avatar f tn I had one done . I only remember waking up in my room. No excruciating pain and could get up and walk if needed to go to the bathroom. You will start out by eating soft foods or liquids. If I had a breathing tube I don't remember, and I did NOT wake up during surgery....I have had 10 surgeries (other issues) and NEVER woke up during surgery. The anesthesiologist will see that you are asleep at all times. But as they mentioned, ask all of these questions at your pre-op appointment.
