I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.

My question pertains to the possibility of combining the following two drugs: Tenormin; and Norvasc.
Currently, I take 100 mg Tenormin in a single dose. In fact, I have been taking this for the past 5 years.
Several years ago my doctor said I could go off it as I was on Norvasc and Diovan. Based on a 24 BP monitor, it was discerned I did not need the Atenolol. I was able to cut my dose to 25mg. but cannot get off it. I become irritable, jittery and have a short fuse. Recently, became a vegan and my BP has dropped so I tried to d/c the atenolol once again. Will I ever be able to get off this med. my BP is 101/60 just on 5 mg. of Norvasc.

This is my story:
About 3 months ago I went to the emergency room due to palpitations. I was 230 lbs and not eating well. My height is 5' 9". That night I felt my heart skipping beats. I could not sleep that night thinking I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor said my heart was fine and all I had was too much adrenaline, and gave me Norvasc (which I didn't take). My family doctor then referred me to a cardiologist. I had a stress test with a nuclear imaging.
I have had an heart failure due to high chotesterol so I am on medication for Hipertension/ High Cholesterol. I recent weeks after I start using Co-Diovan 160/12.5 mg in place of Hyzar I am experiencing a gradual tightening in the upper chest toward the neck/throat and it is as if i may stop breathing? I am not sure if the change in medication has anything to do with it!
I use to to exercise for about 30 min. or more each day, I can do only 2-3 mins. and with great difficulty?
I am on Diovan 80mg with a water pill 12.5mg. I take this pill everyday and it is doing nothing for my bp. I have taken Norvasc, Atenolol, and Hydrochlorothiazide in the past and had no relief. I can feel my heartbeat all over my body (fingers, toes, temples, top of head, stomach, neck, ears, eyes) and can also see it in my chest, stomach, neck, and sometimes my wrists.
I've been taking amplodipine / norvasc 10 mg (antihypertensive) for about a year and a half now and montelukast / singulair 10 mg (leukotriene modifier) for shorter periods (2 months, march - may 2008 and 2 months this year, started in early may and still on it). Last month, after having been on fluoxetine / prozac for about 1 year, I showed some deterioration (more depressive symptoms, more anxiety / panic attacks).
The ER doctor said it was normal and to lose some weight. I got sent home with NORVASC 50mgs which I only took 4 tablets until I saw my family doctor.
Also the other component can cause lower extremity edema, and so its dose may be limiting. his the problem with combination medications, as they cannot be independently titrated.
I'm 48 year old male, I had very high untreated hypertension for I don't know how long. I went to the doctor and he prescribed Metoprol 100mg., Lisinopril 25mg., & Norvasc 10mg. daily. Also 1/2 hydrochlorithizide 25mg every other day. Before this there were never ED problems, but since there has been. Are there any other medications to lower blood pressure without this side effect? As of now the hypertension is under control with these meds.
I was on Norvasc but my Dr. changed to Cardizem, I have trouble swalloing and the Norvasc dissolved in my mouth quickly to make it easier to take, the Cardizem Er is a big capsule that is hard to take, should I ask my Dr to go back on Norvasc?? they both seem to work equally well....
I want to stick to my baby aspirin, Diovan 80/day, lipitor 20/day and vitamins and Calcium. Am I being foolish in making this decision and refusing to be cathed?
Is okay to take 2.5 mg of Norvasc, 120mg Cardizem and Topamax?

I've been taking amlodipine besylate (norvasc) for about 1 and a half months. For the last couple of weeks I've been experiencing very strong anxieties, panic attacks, and a totally sleepless night. I'd been on testim for years now as well and wonder if either one or a combination can be causing them.
I too am taking Toprol and I have dizziness and my legs also feel weak at times. Maybe it is the Toprol. I take it for POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). I also take Diovan for blood pressure. I figured it was a combination of both. I wouldn't go so far as to call my dizziness vertigo. Things don't spin. I gues it's more like lightheaded but sometimes I have what I call extremely brief "brain spasms" or something.
my dad had a triple bypass last apr 21. last saturday, jul 4/2009 he started on diovan 160/12.5 (from corvesy+) and since Sat he's been experiencing chest pains that is not going away. is this a side effect? is he allergic to the this new med he's taking or is this angina? should he get himself to an ER?
It was decided to add Norvasc 5mg INSTEAD of Nifedipine, since Norvasc was used/tolerated well in the past. Began taking Norvasc 5mg along with Lorsartan 100mg and Atenolol 25mg (all 1x daily) approximately 3 days ago, and the blood pressure is still running extremely high. This morning reading was 186/85 and tonight 176/110!!! Worried that this can be dangerous. What should be done? How long until the BP goes to a "normal" range? Does the doctor need to increase the Norvasc dosage?
I have been on Tenoretic 50 for at least 5 years now and my cardiologist told me to cut it in half because of my heart rate sometimes going into the 40s. My blood pressure increased as a result, so he added Norvasc 2.5mg which I am reluctant to take because of reading that in combination with a beta blocker it can cause heart failure. I also have slight LVH.
s office twice and my blood pressure would go from 130/80 to 180/100. Give it that I also have anxiety problems also. At first the doctor put me on Norvasc 5mg and I constantly felt dizzy 24/7. The doctor kept on contributing it to anxiety but I never had this issue before the meds. She took me off of it for a week to see if the dizziness would stop and the dizziness stopped. Then they put me on Verapamil 180mg...no dizziness for 2 months and then boom dizziness came back 24/7.
