Diovan (Valsartan) is available in different doses (20 mg, 40 mg, etc.), so maybe you could take a lower dose on the day you'll be using Viagra. Or possibly just skip your usual dose that day, then resume the next. However, your Dr. may not agree. I think the best strategy is to ask your Dr. about using these 2 drugs at the same time. I would think if you just took a lower dose on the day you use Viagra might be acceptable...
my Dad went to see our family doctor. had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.
For me 50 mg a day has minimal side effects, but yes, it does cause some fatigue. I am also in permanent atrial fibrillation which may be the real issue for me. I had taken Toprolol when much younger and in normal sinus rhythm (then it too was 50mg SR) and it had no side effects that I can recall, I was still running for exercise.
You might want to discuss using a calcium channel blocker to lower blood pressure.
I'm a 64 yrs. old woman who used to take Diovan 320 mg. & Toprol 50 mg. for my B.P. My B.P. readings was okay but my Doctor discontinued the Toprol because my heart rate usually on the 40's. I am currently taking Norvasc 5mg. with the Diovan 320 mg. So far, my B.P. readings is very good, 110/70. But eversince I started the Norvasc, my left leg is swelling and it is becoming worst. I'd like to ask my Doctor to discontinue the Norvasc.
My cardiologist said I should continue the Metoprolol succ and I can stop the Diovan. I was OK for a week or so, then suddenly, I felt the same pressure in my head again and I woke up at night. My BP was 150/100 and I got scared again. In the ER, they kept me overnight and I was admitted. The doctor put me on Metoprolol Succinate (25 mg) twice a day and observed me for 4 days.
I took the BP of anyone who would let me, not quite believing the calibration of the BP cuff. For three weeks of consistently avoiding gluten the BP has stayed in the healthy range. I diminished the Diovan HCT to nothing and plan in August after more walking and careful diet to have another fasting blood sugar done since I am hoping the high reading was due to the hydroclorothiazine and not belly fat, obesity and a family history of type 2 diabetes. So what's my question?
Does this mean that my enlarged heart could be reducing in size or just that the ICD and medication is working? I had a lot of stress before my diagnosis and have not worked since. Is it possible that if I go back to the stressful environment that my heart might get worse again or am I actually in the process of being cured?
It is worth reporting it to your doctor. They know your echo results and will know how to interpret the symptoms in the setting of your previous studies. If it goes away and you are able to fall back to sleep with out getting out of bed and walking around (because of shortness of breath) it is probably not a problem. A heart monitor will probably answer the question.
I think you are on the right track that it is the mediation. Sometimes it takes a while for meds to really change. I think you should infor the doc to see which ones to switch around. My bp normally runs at 95/55 and pulse is higher 70. So isn't dangerously low but since it is making you dizzy I would go in.
I dont think so and just wanted to pose the question to the experts on here. When I get up in the morning, I am bloated pretty much all day when I stand up or walk. I have also noticed internal tremors in my right leg when standing or sitting, they have even come on up to my right arm. At night when I lay down to sleep, my body starts to get these weird strong spasms up my right side to the point that I have to get up and move around until they disappear.
In that period of time, I also had what I thought was an acne breakout - along the jaw line and on the neck under the chin - but also at the corner of the eyebrow and corner of mouth. These were unusual in that they weren't the typical formation of pimples - they were pink and swollen in nature, but took long time to develop white center that when squeezed the pus would come out.
