diovan and weight gain

3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs. Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year. Untill now my Family doctor put me on Diovan 80mg plus Cardiologist put me on Atenolol 50mg. Can High Blood pressure cause PVC's?

A pound a day is too much water weight gain. Water pills and potassium pills if you are on the kind of water pill that depletes the potassium. Low potassium levels are dangerous because your heart needs the potassium to beat.

(1) My blood pressure has been dropping as I lose weight through exercise and diet; I've lost 12 pounds and my bp has dropped from 148/98 to 135/88. I am also taking Diovan though hope to be off it as I continue to lose weight. (2) I don't smoke and rarely drink. (3) I did have a stress test a year or two ago that turned up nothing significant. Any further testing I should consider? (4)I have spoken with my family doctor, but other than the stress test, she suggested nothing else.

Hello. I am 49. I was recently diagnosed as having early stage heart failure due to long term hypertension. An echo listed things the MUGA did not (concentric remodeling, global systolic dysfunction). The EF was 35-40. MUGa said that my EF was 38 and mentioned global hypokinesis. So I was put on Diovan. It's been a month, my systolic has dropped but my systolic hasn't budged. IT's always been 90-92.

For three weeks of consistently avoiding gluten the BP has stayed in the healthy range. I diminished the Diovan HCT to nothing and plan in August after more walking and careful diet to have another fasting blood sugar done since I am hoping the high reading was due to the hydroclorothiazine and not belly fat, obesity and a family history of type 2 diabetes. So what's my question?

It was a couple of yeras ago that I was on Diovan,but it did cause some weight gain.It did not include a diuretic.I am go happy that you both responded,and I am so happy I found this forum.

Hi Ga Guy, I went from 298 in December to 254 now and I am taking the similar Angiotensin Receptor Blocker, Diovan and have been on 80 mg for the last 2 years. With the loss of 44 pounds, I too ended up with very low blood pressure and went to the doctor about it, he cut me back to 60 mg now and suggested that I take my blood pressure every day and monitor if the 60 mg is low enough or not.

I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?

Hi, I have few strange urination problems going on for almost a year now. Some days, I urinate less than what I drink and some days more. Here it goes. Iam 32yrs old and take medication Diovan + Diuretic for high blood pressure in the morning (both). My Blood pressure is in the range of 120-140/80-90 with medication and at seated position (less than 120/80 while in sleeping position).

However, I have trouble sleeping, dry skin/hair, loosing hair, early menopause, fuzzy thinking, headaches(migraines), fatigue, increased difficulty losing weight, muscle cramps and frequent muscle aches(on meds for arthritis), irritability etc. All seem to be symptome of hypothyroidism, yet my endo will not even try a low dose synthroid. I am taking Diovan HCT and the few things I have read, say it can skew the results. I am at my wits end in trying to feel better.

s on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.

I am a 43yo f, normal weight and BMI. I have a strong hx of heart disease in both parents (stenting, Afib and MI, strong sib hx of hypertension too). Was dx with post partum cardiomyopathy, then PE in Dec 2005/Jan 2006. I have HTN is well controlled. Asthma, an unconfirmed dx of inclusion body myositis or polymyositis (dx at the same time during hospitalizations), I was on steroid treatment, so did not do the muscle biopsy. All dx were backed up by clinical picture and bloodwork.

I had taken Toprolol when much younger and in normal sinus rhythm (then it too was 50mg SR) and it had no side effects that I can recall, I was still running for exercise. You might want to discuss using a calcium channel blocker to lower blood pressure. In all my comments are made with no knowledge of "diovan" and its side-effects. Good luck in finding a way to keep the BP normal, that is an important issue.

I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.

I am having Dizzy spells while sitting and standing..almost to the point of passing out.. also my hands ..(fingers).. are tightening and drawing up.. What could be wrong with me?

Part 1: I am a 54 year old male. I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.

Started on 80mg, tried 160mg, back to 80mg and currently on Diovan 160mg/12.5mg HCT as of a week ago. My BP was spiking to 150/100 so my doctor decided to try adding the water tab. Here in lies the issue. Over the course of the last year I started noticing that I was getting very tired, and especially dizzy throughout much of the day. Headaches have increased, stiff muscles, and a general feeling of sluggish.
