Diovan and the liver

Common Questions and Answers about Diovan and the liver

diovan

378273 tn?1262097621 I recently had blood work done and my liver enzymes were both 45. The doctor is not concerned. Should I be? Apparently the normal number is 35. I am 73 and take Warfarin for atrial fibrillation. I also had a hip fracture nine months ago. I also take a blood pressure medication, Diovan, and Metopropolol 25 mg. Would any of these drugs cause the elevation in liver enzymes?
Avatar f tn My question is could this be the result of the CVID? My PP reduced my Diovan HCL 160 to Diovan 80 to see if that was the problem. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn I'm taking 80 mg of Diovan (Valsartan). My kidney doctor prescribed this knowing of my liver issues and he did do some research to determine a medication that was 'easier' on the liver.
459164 tn?1206363843 Hi, Thanks for the response, i surely appreciate it.
Avatar m tn I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?
Avatar f tn had his blood work and ecg done and showed no sign of heart attack over the weekend. the cardiologist and physician talked and they put my dad back to metoprolol 25mg with the diovan 160/12.5mg. so now he's on lipitor 80mg once daily, metoprolol 25mg (2x daily), diovan, and aspirin 81mg. any comment on this prescription mix? thanks so much for your advice.
Avatar m tn Ya its strange I haven't had any PVC's, but I noticed in the past I would have a lot of adrenaline rushes and my heart would work fast and the PVC's would start. Since I started on the meds I haven't had adrenaline rushes.
Avatar n tn For example, with all those opiates every day your colon will become sluggish and youwill have digestive problems and your colon might actuual stop (this happened to me a year ago) and getting it gong again is the least-fun thing I had to go through, and it put my chronic daily headaches into perspective. I'm not saying the headaches aren't bad and don't require medical attention, if I don't take painkillers for mine I can tap out into a seizure, for example.
Avatar f tn I would like to get off this medication as it is making me very sluggish and tired all the time. How do I wean off this medicine as I am only taking it for one month.
Avatar f tn I am taking Amlodipine (Norvasc) 5mg and occasionally my legs and ankles (on both legs and never the leg itself) will swell to the point that my shoes will no longer fit, but the the swelling will go down for a while (a week, two weeks perhaps) until it happens again.
Avatar m tn your Pharmacist is more knowledgeable with medication, interactions, etc. Your doctor prescribes the drug and the pharmacist cannot change that without consulting the doctor and getting a new prescription.
Avatar m tn Part 1: I am a 54 year old male. I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.
1346429 tn?1303874854 I am currently taking aldomet(BP), metformin, colace, fish oil, prilosec, prenatal, and calcium, I took everything but the aldomet and the calcium before I found out I was preggo and they said it was ok to keep going with them,. Why did they stop your meds?
343006 tn?1314446471 These are very common side effects of the medications that you are on. CCB cause swelling in the legs and the belly and may cause muscle twitching. Diuretics can cause your volume status to change rapidly. The diuretic can also cause you to have have these symptoms of dry eyes or dry mouth. Sound like you are not tolerating these meds well and should have them changed.
369861 tn?1306275686 my endocrinologist took me off the diovan hct and didnt want me to have any diuretics. However, he wanted me to have a renin and aldersterone test. Which i have not taken yet. Anyway, my body has been retaining fluid and I went to my primary yesterday and he wants me to see a cardiologist for congestive heart failure, low postassium and when can I go back on diuretics. Is CHF really an issue in this case. I'm really concerned.
Avatar n tn For three weeks of consistently avoiding gluten the BP has stayed in the healthy range. I diminished the Diovan HCT to nothing and plan in August after more walking and careful diet to have another fasting blood sugar done since I am hoping the high reading was due to the hydroclorothiazine and not belly fat, obesity and a family history of type 2 diabetes. So what's my question?
Avatar m tn The sensation typically lasts only a second or two and I find myself instinctively flexing the muscles in my head and neck as I come out of it. Afterward, I often feel weak and flushed. I have two episodes the past couple of weeks; I haven't tracked their frequency in the past but I would guess I would average close to one episode a month. A bit more about me: I am 35 pounds overweight and have moderately high blood pressure an elevated cholestrol, both of which are being treated.
Avatar m tn i am on diovan 360mg twice a day, betaxolo 10mg and hctz 25 mg. and i cannot loose weight, I have gained 20 lobs after taking the hctz for a year or more. Not matter how little I eat or how much i exercise I gain. I have tried stopping the hctz and then my bp shoot up. Help!!!
Avatar n tn It is worth reporting it to your doctor. They know your echo results and will know how to interpret the symptoms in the setting of your previous studies. If it goes away and you are able to fall back to sleep with out getting out of bed and walking around (because of shortness of breath) it is probably not a problem. A heart monitor will probably answer the question.
Avatar n tn ? . I have high blood pressure. I was taking diovan 320 and dilitiazem 360 & metoprolol 100mg. With this my blood pressure averaged 130-140 over 80-90. Now all of a sudden my blood pressure was down to 85-90/50 with a pulse of 50'ish, i was dizzy and felt weak. I dropped my diovan to 160 and dilitiazem to 120, but my pressure is still running about 95/55 w/a 60 pulse. I feel my blood pulsing? thru my body, and am sweaty. Whats up???

514523 tn?1215832667 m not sure how the Toprol will react with the Diovan, but you may see some overlap and your blood pressure med may need adjusted. Did the doctor discuss the effect of taking both drugs? I looked in a drug reference manual, and it doesn't say you can't take them both, but I understand your concern. As Stella said, your blood pressure problem may resolve itself once you start taking a thyroid med like Methimazole.
