I am a 54 year old male. I have high blood pressure and have been on medication for about 2 years now. I started taking Diovan 40 mg about 3 years ago, but my doctor thought it wasn't working so he increased it to 160 mg. After a while, I started feeling dizzy or light headed and We decided to cut down diovan to 80 mg. the dizziness went away for a few monts then it came back and was getting worse. I made a big mistake of stopping the Diovan all together.
I had gotten some strange flutters in my heart, but I quickly ignored them. That night I could hear my heart pounding hard and I had palpitations. I had a panic attack, I felt I was having a heart attack and I drove my self to the hospital.
My blood tests came out negative and the EKG was good, only showing some skipped beats. The ER doctor said it was normal and to lose some weight. I got sent home with NORVASC 50mgs which I only took 4 tablets until I saw my family doctor.
So, am I being difficult or is she being overly cautious. I take Diovan and Amlodipine for blood pressure and Savella and 800 mg. Ibuprophen 3 times a day for arthritis, inflammation and disc disease. I am also on Norco twice a day for pain. I do have trouble sleeping but also have extremely cold hands and feet and some hair thinning issues. I have no heart palpitations or shakiness issues. So is my TSH too suppressed or not?
I am taking 160 mg Diovan for high blood pressure, as well as 20 mg Levostatin for high cholesterol. I believe that I have ed caused by the Diovan. Is it safe to take ed drugs as well?
3 months ago I was at 230lbs, and I would always get these pains in my chest and my heart would beat fast. Current weight 207lbs.
Cardiologist said I have too many extra beats and put me on Atenolol on Tuesday. But he doesn't know about my history of HBP from my family doctor. My BP had always been high since last year. Untill now my Family doctor put me on Diovan 80mg plus Cardiologist put me on Atenolol 50mg.
Can High Blood pressure cause PVC's?
2007, in which the paramedics were called in and I was taken to the hospital ER, I have suffered from daily anxiety- sweating palms, palpitations, dizziness, upset stomach, and sense of dread. However, since summer of last year, I suffered from very distressing gastro issues, especially nausea. I have never suffered so much nausea in my life since last summer. I don't actually vomit but I get very nauseous to the point where I lost 20 lbs during last summer.
I had taken Toprolol when much younger and in normal sinus rhythm (then it too was 50mg SR) and it had no side effects that I can recall, I was still running for exercise.
You might want to discuss using a calcium channel blocker to lower blood pressure.
In all my comments are made with no knowledge of "diovan" and its side-effects.
Good luck in finding a way to keep the BP normal, that is an important issue.
For three weeks of consistently avoiding gluten the BP has stayed in the healthy range. I diminished the Diovan HCT to nothing and plan in August after more walking and careful diet to have another fasting blood sugar done since I am hoping the high reading was due to the hydroclorothiazine and not belly fat, obesity and a family history of type 2 diabetes. So what's my question?

This is my story:
About 3 months ago I went to the emergency room due to palpitations. I was 230 lbs and not eating well. My height is 5' 9". That night I felt my heart skipping beats. I could not sleep that night thinking I was having a heart attack. The ER doctor said my heart was fine and all I had was too much adrenaline, and gave me Norvasc (which I didn't take). My family doctor then referred me to a cardiologist. I had a stress test with a nuclear imaging.
Mine runs about the same, the highest it has been is 110, and averages about 86 BPM, I used to be on Metoprolol, it was prescribed by a Cardiologist, and controls High BP by slowing the heart rate, that could be an option, if you have Palps, maybe your bouncing back and forth between Hypo and Hyper, I am Hypo and taking Diovan for BP, but my HR still spikes now and then, and with stress it tends to spike also.
The sensation typically lasts only a second or two and I find myself instinctively flexing the muscles in my head and neck as I come out of it. Afterward, I often feel weak and flushed.
I have two episodes the past couple of weeks; I haven't tracked their frequency in the past but I would guess I would average close to one episode a month.
A bit more about me: I am 35 pounds overweight and have moderately high blood pressure an elevated cholestrol, both of which are being treated.
? . I have high blood pressure. I was taking diovan 320 and dilitiazem 360 & metoprolol 100mg. With this my blood pressure averaged 130-140 over 80-90. Now all of a sudden my blood pressure was down to 85-90/50 with a pulse of 50'ish, i was dizzy and felt weak. I dropped my diovan to 160 and dilitiazem to 120, but my pressure is still running about 95/55 w/a 60 pulse. I feel my blood pulsing? thru my body, and am sweaty. Whats up???
i have a history of mitral valve stenosis - rheumatic fever in childhood -- no changes in EKG, echo, carotid doplers MRI, etc - should i be concerned regarding nocturnal tachycardia -- am on toprol twice a day, diovan, and simvastatin, premarin, metroprolol, saw cardiologist in Dec -- diovan was added because bp was slightly elevated -- just started the night tachycardia -- wakes me up and then I fall right back to sleep before I can even check my pulse rate -- should I contact him?
