Avatar n tn Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap. But now I, in addition to having this happen again, I am incredibly anxious about whether Medicaid covers this procedure. I can't find ANY information anywhere.
Avatar m tn I had a brief bout of A-Fib, and the ER put me on 15mg Diltiazem every 6 hrs. My physician a couple of days later bumped that up to 30mg/6hrs. Around a week into taking the drug, I lost most of the sense of taste; sweet, sour, salt. Initially I just had a tiny sense of "savory" as the only thing I could taste. I began to not be able to eat, because everything made me sick to my stomach. I read in the Diltiazem side-effects that this is called "taste perversion".
177337 tn?1310059899 I just got back from my internist. She is truly a wonderful compasionate doctor that really wants to help keep me as healthy as possible. Of course all my blood tests came back perfect except that I was low in Vitamin D. I was actualy hoping something was off so that I had a reason for the increase in these damn episodic pvc's that have been lasting for hours at a time. She wants me to try a channel blocker called diltiazem on an "as needed" basis.
1704227 tn?1307475144 The one which finally worked was Diltiazem. I took 60mg in the morning and 60mg in the evening and after 24hours it stopped. There are some side effects with CCB with some people, as with all meds, and I had to stop it after 3 weeks because it gave me Gum issues. I was nicely surprised (as was my Doctor) to find my spasms had actually stopped even when I came off the med. It hasn't returned since then.
976897 tn?1379167602 Calcium channel blockers which he says also help to prevent spasm, IF that is my problem. He has given me diltiazem 60mg x 3 a day. Has anyone else here taken such medication? It says the side effects of these can also be headaches but he assures me that this is very rare. He also said if I get to the point of feeling so dizzy that I may faint, I should get straight to the hospital. Review in 2 weeks to see how they are working. Blood pressure today was 150/96.
Avatar f tn I am taking 25mg metoprolol and 60mg diltiazem daily. I was up to 50mg metoprolol and 120mg diltiazem daily at one point but have cut back recently. Since cutting back I have been less fatigued and seem to have less difficulty breathing although I still have the annoying headaches. I am trying to find the best way to deal with the SVTs and palpitations but maintain a decent quality of life. I don't believe these particular meds are going to do it for me.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with coronary spasms, and have been prescribed Isosorbide mononitrate 60mg daily. I understand that this is a form of nitroglycerine, so I expected a headache. This is day three of treatment. The first two days were tolerable, though the headache was pretty bad. Today is intolerable. I tried to return to work for the first time in two weeks and returned home by 11am. Along with horrible headache pain, I am having some periods of time when I am having palpatations.
Avatar m tn BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue. The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
Avatar m tn I have been take 30mg immediate release oxycodone for about 3 months, recreationally, first a quarter pill then half and finally peaking at 45-60mg a day for about a week. for the past 2 days i have just have 30mg a day split into morning and night. I have 8 pills left and i have to be done with this, its was all fun in the beginning, but I have to get off this road because I know where it ends. I had dts this morning just from the 2 days at 30 mg.
Avatar f tn Ive been cutting one unisom.tab in half at night and taking it with a 60mg vitamin b6 tab and it helps not feel sick the next day u have to take it everynight for it to.
Avatar n tn I could not be converted with adenosine, but diltiazem was successful. I was sent home the first time with extended-release diltiazem, which did not work and my heart jumped back into tachycardia that last approximately 11 hours before ending up in the ED again. Echocardiogram revealed no abnormalities and cardiologists scheduled me for an ablation the following week. I had the ablation done in May and have not, thank God, had an SVT episode since.
Avatar f tn Two weeks ago my Cardio doctor changed my medication from Cardizem LA to Diltiazem CD. I know it's the generic brand of Cardizem. Anyway he raised my dosage from 240 mg. to 300 mg. For a whole week I had some terrible side effects. I blacked out once while sitting at my computer and then I came close to blacking out on a daily basis. I also felt off balance. I ended up going to my primary doctor, not for this, but for something else. I guess it was a follow up appointment.
1153421 tn?1262132684 I was sent home and placed on oral diltiazem 120 mgs 2 tabs 2x daily. After about a week I could barely lift one foot in front of the other. So he dropped it to 1 tab 2x daily. I was already on atenolol for several years due to the occasional short svt's. I still am having episodes. I have had a few where I could not function. I had to go lie down and after a few hours they go away on their own and I just feel physically drained.
237039 tn?1264258057 I also switched to nitro spray which is less fragile than sublingual tabs and it saves a few seconds from unscrewing the tab bottle and it easy to see how much is left. Watch the expiration date also. Sorry for your miserable 20 minutes. Joan.
Avatar f tn Currently I am taking Diltiazem 420 mg daily and Isosorbide 90 mg. daily. Because the risk of spasms is greater during the early hour of the morning when waking up, I split the 90 mg. of isosorbide taking 30 mg in the afternoon and then 60 mg before going to bed.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. I was on diltiazem xt 120mg. I stopped taking the medicine 12 days ago could it still be in my system and be causing slow heart rate 40-45 during th day.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm a 33 year old male, not overweight, not diabetic, I've been dealing with tachycardia for some time now. It comes and goes. I found that 50mg of Metoprolol twice a day would mostly control it, but as a 33 year old man, I began to notice major erection issues since being on it. Talked to my doctor, they want me to start 120mg a day of Diltiazem. I'm a little nervous about it, but they assured me it's no more potent a medication.
996946 tn?1503249112 s on Vetmedin, 5mg...Enalapril, 10mg...furosemide (lasix) 40 mg, and Diltiazem 40mg. His coughing has not improved. I'm wondering if he really needs the Vetmedin or the Diltiazem? I know his HR seems normal now but because of having heartworms a few yrs ago, he has the residual side effect of CHF. I just hate giving him so many meds and he's not getting better! Any quick suggestions?
Avatar f tn If one never had swollen gums after taking Diltiazem Hydrochloride Extended-release Capsules USP for years and then suddenly has swollen gums (no redness or infection) could the Diltiazem suddenly cause this after getting a "deep cleaning" of the teeth, or 'probing for pocket depths' at a dentist?
Avatar m tn I take Metoprolol for a thick heart muscel & pvc, which it doesn't help much with the pvc's, Diltiazem was just added 120mg once a day. My doctor seemed somewhat reluctant to add the Diltiazem but said lets try it. My Blood pressure has been around 155/95. His reluctance just seems to scare me. Should I try it or should I not? If I do start taking it should I take it with the metoprolol or at different times?
672586 tn?1280933658 At my request, my family physician has agreed to change my medication from daily metoprolol extended release 100 mg to daily diltiazem 120 mg. Can I simply switch without fear of withdrawal symptoms from the metoprolol? His instructions were to stop taking the metoprolol when I start the new diltiazem. I was not aware that I might face withdrawal from metoprolol.
Avatar f tn it seems to occur more since the increase in addition to other symptoms, all of my levels are in range except the Free T3 is at the bottom of the range, I have tried different lotions and they only help a little, What I found works best for me is the 25 Mg Benadryl Allergy tablets, during the day I break one in half and it helps for about 7 hours, at night I will take a whole tab, they are antihistamines so they may make you a little drowsy at first.
Avatar n tn Hi Guys...Currently I take 360mg DR of Diltiazem once daily...I worry that since sometimes I forget as to whether I have taken my pill or not due to a fast paced life / career. My question is...If I were to accidentally take a double dose of the stuff would I end up kicking the bucket?
