Subsequently , 2D Echo was carried out which showed - No RWMA , EF - Normal and Valves - Normal.However, the Holter Monitoring for 24 hours for me indicated Non-Sustained SVT and No Arrhythmia During Symptoms. I have been advised to take Diltiazem Hydrochloride 30 tablets 3 times a day.I would like to get an Expert Advice on how safe is my heart condition and weather I need to take any medicine for life long.

Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. If one never had swollen gums after taking Diltiazem Hydrochloride Extended-release Capsules USP for years and then suddenly has swollen gums (no redness or infection) could the Diltiazem suddenly cause this after getting a "deep cleaning" of the teeth, or 'probing for pocket depths' at a dentist?

I have Diltiazem for that reason. When I'm having a bratty heart day with lots of tachy and chest pain, I use one of those to calm things down. It's not quick like taking an aspirin for a headache but it does help. The only down side is Diltiazem gives me a wicked headache. If I took it every day like I used to, that side effect would wear off in a couple of weeks. Still, I'd rather just take it when I have to and deal with the headache. At least it calms my heart.

If I go back to the cytomel along with some sustained release T3, it will actually be slightly less T3 than I am on now, but it will be mostly immediate release rather than sustained release, if that makes sense. I seem to need way more of the sustained type than I did with the cytomel. I'm not sure why... Do you think combining a sustained release med with an immediate release med is a bad thing? Or does it matter?

I just checked my prescription bottle and see the calcium channel blocker is Diltiazem 120 mg twice a day. This is a generic medication for the drug you mention, I believe. It is normal release, so I take it every 12 hours. I do believe the slow release isn't available in generic.

Looking to safely taper off of my calcium channel blocker diltiazem extended release capsules. I have been on them a little over one year. My blood pressure is perfect and was perfect prior to my heart surgery. The only reason I am on them is because I had a large tumor in my heart and once I had my open heart surgery I developed post-op SVT, afib, a-flutter and my heart rate has skyrocketed over 200 beats per minute several times.

Doesn't it depend on the type of Diltiazem, whether it's slow release or not? I take the slow release type, once a day. I thought I read the half life is about 16 hours. When I went off of my med, it took 3 days before my chest pains came back. In either case, I'd say (msanxiety) that the med is out of your system by now.

I can usually control my PACs/PVCs through diet but when I stray and they flare up, calcium channel blockers (diltiazem) work like a charm. It makes them completely go away until it wears off which is about 24 hours (extended release 240), Just curious if anyone knows why doctors do not prescribe these to more patients for PAC/PVC because they seem to work.

Hello people, I just ordered my Cytomel (T3/Thryoid Meds) from Mexico, it's called Tryiotex and people in the net says it's a slow released meds.. the dosage are 75mcg for a pill.. how should i take them? what's sustained release means? will it be ok to take the dosage first thing in the a.m on an empty stomach? or should i split the dosage for 2 times a day? (remember - that's a slow/sustained release pills.. different from other brands out there..

Also consumed 3 grams/day of omega 3 supplements and was on a relatively low carb diet during this period. Pretty sure the sustained release Niacin may be culprit but anyone familiar with anything else that would raise these three enzymes as noted above. I have stopped the Slo Niacin. What's a reasonable time to recheck blood after getting off the Niacin....a month? Also, note that BUN/Creatine just slightly high and ALP, Bilirubin, A/G,Albumin, etc liver markers were all normal.

Back in February I was put on Diltiazem 120 ER (extended release) and only had to take it once a day. Compared to the Verapamil (also a CCB) that I had to try years ago and I ended up in the ER, the Diltiazem was a dream to take. I had some fatigue, was a bit slow mentally. The hardest part was the nasty headaches I got during the first week or so. They would hit a couple hours after I took the pill then go away. I solved that problem by taking it at bedtime.

From a compounding pharmacy: "Cytomel is immediate release T3, and compounded T3 is a 12 hour sustained release T3, therefore you are getting a continuous dose of T3 over a 12 hour period, and not just a burst of T3 with the immediate release cytomel." Hi, I have many symptoms of hypothyroid but my thyroid levels are normal, so my physician prescribed low-dose (5mg) Cytomel in the hopes of alleviating my symptoms. Has anyone taken Cytomel (not the sustained-release form, just the regular instant-release form) for Wilson's Syndrome? If so, could you please share your story? Did Cytomel work? Did you try the sustained-released form of T3?

m having nightmares and feeling out of sorts. I may try sad old propranolol, although we have no sustained release here. My ventricular fractions are great, valvs are fine, but I'm overweight and out of shape, mildy hypertensive. Would it be safe to combine a beta with verapamil/diltiazem? I really want to get rid of the sinus tachy and get my life back. It's very disturbing for me.

BP is relatively normal. I take indapmide for that (From my regular doctor). In fact when my cardilolgist put me on diltiazem, he took me off indapamide. That didn't last long. The diltiazem did nothing for my BP. It went back up (Only talking +/- 140/90), so let me add bavk the indapamide. So, that is not an issue. Just the MVP/ diltazem issue.The pulse can stay n the 60's for awhile. At most during the day, in the 80's. (Of course, that is only when the rythym is normal).

It is sustained release. I have heard good things about this product. But I am worried that it is sustained-release and will affect my meds. Any ideas on what kind of iron to take. I find that they are very constipating. I don't need that to deal with. Thanks in advance!

The third atrial fib was last Friday night. The doctor in the ER put me on Cardizem (diltiazem) and changed my simvastatin to Lipitor. They instructed me to cut back on the metropolol to 25 mg. twice daily and to quit taking it if my blood pressure dipped below systolic fell below 100 or my diastolic below 60. My question is how to I gradually stop the metaprolol? I read that I should wean myself off of it in a week or two but no one seems to know how to go about it.

I am wondering what the longest period in which you have had sustained PVC's or PAC's? And how often will you get sustained PVC's? If there are no symptoms, ie dizziness, how long would you wait before you went to the ER or would you even consider going? Have you talked this over w/your cardio or EP?
