Avatar f tn I found my freakin cure for the itchy boobs and belly. Vaseline has become my new best friend. Ahhh... The relief!!! Anyone else rely on this to cure their itchiness???
1622431 tn?1299070442 I have recently been diagnosed with pacs, and my doctor put me on diltiazem. Can any one tell me from experience how effective this treatment is?
Avatar f tn Thank you for responding. I only wish it were the med causing the weight loss, but I know that isn't true. He raised it because it wasn't lowering my BP at all, but let me tell you, for that whole week I felt horrible. I might sound over dramatic, but I felt like I was knocking on heaven's door. I was afraid to go anywhere because I kept feeling so lightheaded and like I was going to pass out. Once the Diltiazem was lowered I felt better.
Avatar n tn No significant changes were observed in any of the values in patients taking either diltiazem hydrochloride (180 mg/day) or beta-blockers (15 mg of pindolol or 60 mg of propranolol daily). The decrease in HDL-cholesterol levels and increase in triglyceride levels reported in 1978 to be associated with use of propranolol, and with the concomitant use of hydrochlorothiazide and propranolol, was not found.
Avatar n tn First time, adenosine failed twice to bring down 180+ pulse. Diltiazem given, and worked. Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap.
Avatar f tn I had an episode of afib and was in the hospital is Sept. They took me off the beta blocker and put me on diltiazem. It didn't control my heart rate like the beta blocker. My resting heart rate went from upper 60s to the low 80s. After a few days without my beta blocker, I ended up in the ER, in sinus tachycardia with a rate of about 120. Long story short, it did not do a good job of keeping my heart rate down.
Avatar f tn Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker and such medications DO indeed exacerbate gingival hyperplasia (enlarged gums). Deeper probing depths MAY be caused by medications. Think of it that way: the normal location for the gum tissue is at cervix of the tooth (neck/fattest area). There we have...say 2mm probing depth. Tissue enlarged by the medication and it goes up...way up -> now our probing depth is 4 or 5mm.
672586 tn?1280933658 Make sure you see a dentist at least twice a year and make it known you are on ccb. Side effects can occur in some people where gums are affected, but in my case two of my molars crumbled.
996946 tn?1503249112 I have to take my dog Barney back to the Vet for a recheck in an hour. He's on Vetmedin, 5mg...Enalapril, 10mg...furosemide (lasix) 40 mg, and Diltiazem 40mg. His coughing has not improved. I'm wondering if he really needs the Vetmedin or the Diltiazem? I know his HR seems normal now but because of having heartworms a few yrs ago, he has the residual side effect of CHF. I just hate giving him so many meds and he's not getting better! Any quick suggestions?
Avatar f tn Ever since that day I have had a blurred area in that eye. I have had no problem with the ReStor implanted in my right eye. I have read a paper posted by an opthamologist who has had patients with this problem. He explanted the ReStor and replaced it with a ReZoom lens. Have you ever heard of this combination and what are your thoughts on this problem?
Avatar m tn among other diagnosis he said it was Dry Eye and I am using drops 4 times a day with no positive results..My vision is good in that eye after a change in the new prescription..even though it feel like my right eye is straining when wearing my glasses... I agreed to the simplest lens so I would have the least problems...so did not get the lens that would correct my astigmatism...
1689583 tn?1387752394 It depends on what medication you're taking. I take diltiazem, although I take it for esophageal spasm. I don't have high blood pressure. I had to reduce the dose while in a study for a similar medication (PI). PIs can increase the amount of blood pressure medication in you if you take a calcium channel blocker like diltiazem.
177337 tn?1310059899 I have Diltiazem for that reason. When I'm having a bratty heart day with lots of tachy and chest pain, I use one of those to calm things down. It's not quick like taking an aspirin for a headache but it does help. The only down side is Diltiazem gives me a wicked headache. If I took it every day like I used to, that side effect would wear off in a couple of weeks. Still, I'd rather just take it when I have to and deal with the headache. At least it calms my heart.
Avatar f tn As long as it's external, I believe vaseline would be safe- it doesn't hurt to call the doctor and ask what they advise though. I wonder if something like a diaper rash cream could help as well.
Avatar m tn I take Metoprolol for a thick heart muscel & pvc, which it doesn't help much with the pvc's, Diltiazem was just added 120mg once a day. My doctor seemed somewhat reluctant to add the Diltiazem but said lets try it. My Blood pressure has been around 155/95. His reluctance just seems to scare me. Should I try it or should I not? If I do start taking it should I take it with the metoprolol or at different times?

Avatar m tn Referred to another doctor for cardioversion. He put me on diltiazem 180mg . I told him about the problems with tiazac. He told me the lower dose and because along with rythmol would be OK. Some symptoms returned but much less. Had cardioversion May 22, 2012. A-fib returned May 25 2012.Next time hope to be off diltizem. Also I think I will try magnesium (2 gm/day) . Any suggestions etc appreciated.
Avatar n tn I looked up calcium channel blockers and found: •Diltiazem (Cardizem LA, Tiazac), thus I conclude we are taking basically the same thing. I went to Diltiazem to get the lower cost, and also lost the slow acting, thus I have to take my mediation twice a day. I can't remember if the change also relates to the loss of swelling in my ankle, but as said I no longer have that side effect and I continue to take Diltiazem twice a day.
Avatar f tn Even though vaseline is a moist environment, nothing can survive long enough to infect. Anything that might have been in the vaseline would degrade enough, if not die, and could not infect you. Is anxiety an issue for you normally? You should talk to your doctor about that. Also, if you want to continue to get erotic massages, you can easily bring your own lube and ask them to use it if that will ease your mind.
Avatar n tn It really depends on what you need. If this has been prescribed for you, and you are uncertain about it, then you can always ask your doctor for more clarification. It really just all depends on your individual circumstances.
Avatar f tn I tried Verapamil and it did not agree with me at all. I could handle the fatigue and muscle aches but the chest pain and SOB did me in. Recently I was on Diltiazem for awhile. Was tired a bit, had headaches the first couple of weeks but overall it wasn't a bad med. I can't take beta blockers because of asthma. The Diltiazem was helpful in easing some of my tachy times and got rid of my chest pains.
