Avatar f tn About 6 months ago, I was finally diagnosed and started taking cyclosporine 100 mg 2x day. After a week, I could eat like a normal person—just about anything I wanted. It was great, it even allowed me to travel to Europe. The cyclosporine I was taking was a powder in a capsule, apparently this has been taken off the market and instead I took the same medication, but it was in the form of a capsule with alcohol. Unfortunately, after a short time, I was right back to before treatment.
Avatar f tn Chronic urticaria, especially the autoimmune type, is often resistant to antihistamine treatment. They usually require immunosuppression and medications such as prednisone and cyclosporine may be given. There has been several studies already which have shown effectiveness in using cyclosporine in the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria, who fail to respond to conventional therapy (ref: http://www.e-ijd.org/article.asp?
Avatar m tn Is there a correlation between taking less ursodiol and my through cyclosporine levels slightly decreasing? Could my lower cyclosporine levels have contributed to the lessening of my symptoms? Could taking less ursodiol have contributed to my diminishing symptoms. What would be the lest acceptable through cyclosporine level for a patient on mono -therapy four and one half years post transplant with no episodes of rejection? Thank you so very much Dr.
Avatar n tn It really depends on what you need. If this has been prescribed for you, and you are uncertain about it, then you can always ask your doctor for more clarification. It really just all depends on your individual circumstances.
Avatar n tn I am currently on 30 mg of diltiazem 3x day and i was wondering how effective is this dose at bring down your blood pressure. and how much would it bring it down. a rough estimate would be great. for i am hoping to come off of this medicine.
1732853 tn?1366758928 It"s sometimes used to treat RA and other autoimmune disorders. It's also used to after an organ transplant to prevent rejection.
Avatar m tn (interestingly though, a few days before at the vet, the schirmer test was 12 in both eyes). Now 6 weeks later, the right eye has a 6 and the left eye still has 0. The specialist reviewed all of the options with us - cyclosporine, pilocarpine or tacrolimus with sirolimus. She said that very rarely has she seen any dog respond to cyclosporine after not responding to tacrolimus.
Avatar m tn I have suffered with taking diltiazem(180 mg ER) AND metoprolol (50 mg ER) for atril fibrillation for the past two and a half years. The side effects have been debilitating.. Both drugs have the same side effects and together and one or the other or both create what I can only describe as chaotic turbulence in my chest and pain in my left arm when the second drug kicks in.. My cardiolgist now wants me to add a blood thinner (xarelto) to my meds menu.
Avatar m tn i think this is a reasonable way of lowering the cyclosporine dose and as long as labs are being followed regularly i think that this is OK. I am not aware of rapa affecting bile flow.
Avatar n tn Do you think it is neck pain or could it be an abdominal problem from being on pred, cyclosporine for 5 years (she has been on cyclosporine consistently for 5 years and pred on/off whenever she has a recurrence), coud it be cancer in her abdomen? I am thinking about going for a myelogram but what tests would you run else since her chemistry was pretty clean. Could it be pancreatitis even though her chemistry is clean? What are other causes for a dog crying?
Avatar m tn Not all of us respond the same to the same medications. The indapamide worked better for you than the dilitazem so it only makes sense to stay w/the indapamide and forego the diltiazem since your doctor obviously didn't consider the indapamide and diltiazem a good combinantion. I understand about uninsured doctor visits. We lost our family doctor of some 30 years and got a rude shock when we started doctor shopping!!! From a standard $35 office call to a $150 initial office call!!!!!
1622431 tn?1299070442 I've taken Diltiazem and it works quite well. I have PAC's, PVC's and PSVT (a type of atrial tachy). Years ago they gave me Verapamil (similar to Diltiazem) and it did not agree with me at all. I can't take beta blockers because I have asthma. But the Diltiazem helped with the chest pain, slowed down my heart rate and lower my BP a bit, helped with my Raynauds (where my blood vessels spasm and my hands and feet turn a yucky blue/gray color).
Avatar m tn For example, after each meal i now collapse with low BP when the blood rushes to the stomach to digest my food which i have had to deal with now for the past seven years and the anti rejection meds called cyclosporine have caused a lot of unpleasant 'mole like' crusty brown lesions on my torso which can be very itchy.
Avatar f tn For the past 2 years, she has been on Cyclosporine and Ketaconazole and it has controlled her itching, scratching and yeast buildup. Unfortunately, it has contributed to her kidney problems. She has quickly moved to Stage 3 kidney disease. We originally attributed her failing kidney function to her food. We have been feeding her gluten free food because of her allergies, but they have a high protein and sometimes higher sodium and phosphorus content.
Avatar n tn What happens is their eyes stop producing their own tears, and the eyes dry out and become very itchy and irritated. As a result, the skin around the eyes becomes red and inflamed looking, and it COULD have something to do with the redness and hair loss around the mouth as well, since these dogs have such short faces, the itchy eyes cause them to rub their faces on carpets, rough-textured furniture, etc., to seek relief from the itching.
Avatar f tn I have been taking metoprolol and diltiazem for sixteen months and initially the medications brought the SVTs under control. Fourteen months ago I started coughing blood and experiencing chest congestion. This took my attention off any heart issues and sent me on a long search for the cause of the bleeding. After many tests and visits with various specialists I never did get the answer. The bleeding resolved itself after 10 months (last October) and has not reappeared.
Avatar f tn Anyway, he said that I was over medicated so he lowered my dosage back down to 240 mg. of Diltiazem CD and he also put me on Enalapril 2.5 mg. Since my Diltiazem dosage was raised I have been losing weight unintentionally. Believe me I have been eating VERY well and the pounds are still dropping. I have struggled to lose weight for months and now all of a sudden I'm losing. My question is could the Diltiazem be causing me to lose weight and has this happened to anyone else?
Avatar n tn Then (like you) I went on to diltiazem for 3 days. While on this, I had some insomnia and almost felt like I was having a stroke at one point. I had facial flushing and weird body sensations. Came off that one. Now I'm on atenolol (25 mg) and it puts me to SLEEP very easily. It's so funny that some people like you experience insomnia whereas I can barely keep my eyes awake. I take atenolol b/c of tachycardia moreso than high BP but I do have prehypertension.
Avatar m tn She has been wearing the hood for 6 months to prevent her for scratching her eyes. She just turned 4 and and she is in so much pain, We finally decided to have surgery and have found out it is 2600.00 per eye. I am very worried it won't work. She just cannot enjoy her life ands she is so young. She is a shitzu-maltese mix, a wonderful little girl. I want to give her her life back. The specialist said there were no more options. The poor dog gets drops all day long and through the night.
Avatar f tn The first in two years landed me in the Hospital. My meds were changed from Metoprolol to Diltiazem 360 mg per day and Fleconade 50 mg 2x per day plus Warfarin. The Metoprolol 25mcg 1 x daily has been making me wheeze for the past four years, but no one ever thought to change the meds. I have been on this new med protocol for 1.5 weeks. I just started the Fleconide and Warfarin three days ago. My question is I need to loose 45 pounds asap.
Avatar n tn In an additional 33 patients, glomerular and tubular NEP protein levels from renal graft biopsies were significantly higher among the 13 patients receiving cyclosporine + EC-MPS than among the 12 patients receiving cyclosporine + azathioprine or 8 patients receiving cyclosporine alone. Glomerular NEP expression inversely correlated with glomerulosclerosis and proteinuria, and tubular NEP expression inversely correlated with interstitial fibrosis.
Avatar m tn I have now had CAU for 7months now with not a day that goes by without the hives, I am currently taking fexofendine, loratadine and Ranitadine in the morning and night, these help a little, but during the night they don't touch the hives, I wake every morning covered in hives, its driving me mad.
Avatar n tn First time, adenosine failed twice to bring down 180+ pulse. Diltiazem given, and worked. Sent home with extended-release 120mg diltiazem. Experienced breakthrough arrhythmias and eventual return to tachycardia 170bpm that lasted 8 hours before heading to the ER again. Given fast-acting diltiazem 60mg, which seems to be working so far, although I'm still experiencing arrhythmias. Cardiologist preliminarily diagnosed AVNRT and recommended ablation asap.
Avatar f tn I was on it for a week but my side effects were not very pleasant, a bit out of the norm. They took me off of it. Now I take Diltiazem (another CCB) without much trouble. A heart rate of 86 at night is still pretty brisk. Mine is normally 60 at rest, in the low 70's when I'm up moving around. And that was before Diltiazem. No, I'm not athletic. I'm an old pudgy lady.
Avatar f tn I had an episode of afib and was in the hospital is Sept. They took me off the beta blocker and put me on diltiazem. It didn't control my heart rate like the beta blocker. My resting heart rate went from upper 60s to the low 80s. After a few days without my beta blocker, I ended up in the ER, in sinus tachycardia with a rate of about 120. Long story short, it did not do a good job of keeping my heart rate down.
