I was prescribed Dilantin. Since I ake my meds, I feel grogy, I have difficulty walking normal (people ask my why I limp) and if I try to walk normaly, my head seems to spin. t remember much of anything. All the tests blood, catscan, MRI came back normal. The EEG came back abnormal and I was told it was my whole brain that was affected, not either side but both. With a recent drop of the medicine xanax, they attributed the seizures to that. Apparently, I cut my dosage in half for about a week or so before the seizures. I'm still a bit foggy. I am to see the neurologist on May 30, and don't know what to expect.

My husband was recently diagosed with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer. The neurosurgeon put him on Dilantin "for life." He isn't even going to check blood levels. My husband has not had any seizures. Does this seem appropriate?

From my experience no but people do grow out of it if they are lucky enough our healed from it. I was on Dilantin, Phenobarbital and Lamictal three years ago. My Dr took me off of Dilantin and no more problems. I was on Dilantin over twenty years and i was scared.
