Avatar m tn Hello, According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless- or self-tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. Another popular form of sunless tanning is the bronzer. These powders and moisturizers, once applied, create a tan that can easily be removed with soap and water. More like make-up, these products tint or stain your skin only until they are washed off.

We don’t know how it will affect you or your baby if you inhale the chemicals. To be on the safe side during pregnancy, try to stick with fake tans that you can apply by rubbing, not spraying. If you do want to use a spray, make sure the room is well aired. Also protect your eyes and lips with barrier cream or petroleum jelly.
5049711 tn?1364572195 Depends where you go, definitely ask a doctor but I know that the one by me uses a product that's purely a DHA protein so I'm assuming its not bad but I'm gonna ask my doc too cuz I'm a pasty mofo, but you can go in a tanning bed, if you go 3 times a week for no longer then 8 min your fine ( depending on the bed), if stick with the lower beds that produce more UVB rays ( the burning rays) because they produce more vitamin d which is essential for the baby, the only danger factor
467126 tn?1283144858 Pregnancy and tanning is always a touchy subject. Some salon owners don’t allow it, while others think it’s completely fine—in fact, many female salon owners say they tanned throughout their own pregnancies. What I hadn’t heard before was a question regarding the safety of sunless tanning while pregnant.
Avatar f tn So I didnt want to risk tanning or pay the price of a spray tan so I went and bought L'oreal Sublime Bronze tinted self tanning lotion. Im super pasty and it made me super sad that I had no color. But this product is AMAZING! no streaks.
412873 tn?1329174455 Sunless tanning products may contain anywhere between 1 to 15 percent DHA; the higher the DHA level, the darker the tan produced. Manufacturers of sunless tan products claim that DHA is a simple carbohydrate sugar solution but a toxicologist who investigated the harmful effects of tanning beds disagrees. Even the FDA has not approved the use of DHA in spray tan booths. The FDA previously approved the use of DHA as an ingredient in tanning products but strictly for topical application only.
Avatar n tn I used it when I got out of the shower, and in 3 days, with continued tanning, the white spots from tanning were gone. Thanks God I found this product, because I was starting to lose my tan. :) This discussion is related to Tanning Spots.
Avatar f tn It depends on the product. I have a friend who does spray tans and uses Norvell products which are all natural she does tons of pregnant women.
Avatar f tn I was recommended by my doctors to take the Enfamil Expecta DHA.(but this may be due to them getting paid to promote the product? I don't know. They always give out samples.) Anyway, I've taken it with all my pregnancies and it doens't upset my stomach like regular fish oil caps do. Also, you don't have to worry about mercury. It's a little on the expensive side, varying from $10 - $15/mo. I ordered mine on Amazon where it was only $20 for a 2 month supply.
Avatar m tn alot of people get these esp while using a tanning bed... you can also go to a tanning bed and ask for sunspot treatment that works. it's usually a clear ointment like, and doesnt make your face hurt. it's not that expensive either. i had to use it to one year while working at a tanning bed because i got sunspots on my face. i dont think it should hurt!
Avatar n tn EPA and DHA. The best source for both is fish oil. Aim for 1,000-3,000 mg total DHA and EPA. That's three to nine capsules a day of most brands. Take 1,500 mg of glucosamine sulfate and 1,200 mg of chondroitin a day. Take 500-1,500 mg of MSM per day. Also take Take 400 to 800 mg a day of Sam-e. A product from New Chapter called Zyflamend, contains rosemary, curcumin, and ginger that are anti-inflammatories.
Avatar m tn I have read a number of threads which are saying that fish oil with high levels of EPA and DHA can help to reverse liver fibrosis if there is no further liver injury occuring. Is this correct? I have found locally a fish oil liquid that has 968 mg of EPA and 878 mg of DHA per 10ml serving. Would this be enough because it recommends only 10 ml per day? By the way it also states on the box that a) it is made to Pharma GMP standards and b) it uses opti-pure purification process.
776572 tn?1360290739 I was taking Trimedesyn, which looked good to me as it had a lot of extras that most prenatals are lacking (like dhas, probiotics (although i wonder if they are still active considering the product is not refrigerated) and more, and yet my doc said the vitamin a was a bit high at 5,000 ius. I've since switched to SISU's prenatal but wonder if you ladies might have a good recommendation?
1225070 tn?1344709174 DHA comes from a source that is known as being pretty clean and doesn't give you the anti-coagulant problems (thining of the blood) that sometimes you run into with fish oil, so I think DHA omega 3s are okay to take with a baby aspirin unlike regular fish oils. You can find is at any drug store next to the over the counter prenatal vitamins. I actually ordered mine from drugstore.com. Plus DHA is great for the baby once you are pregnant!!
Avatar f tn Hello, These white spots are due to pityraisis versicolor. It is a common skin infection caused by the yeast Malassezia furfur. This skin disease commonly affects adolescents and young adults, especially in warm and humid climates. Treatment involves topical and oral antifungal medicines. Most cases of fungal infections respond to over-the-counter products, which contain any of several basic ingredients: miconazole, tolnaftate, terbinafine, ketaconazole and clotrimazole.

Avatar f tn 4) Natural Factors RxOmega-3 Factors EPA 400mg/DHA 200 mg (400 mg EPA and 200 mg DHA per softgel, 1 to 3 per day) Found only 83.
688450 tn?1259468734 I wanted to know the same info when I was pregnant. I was taking Prenexa prenatals (which contains 250mg DHA) vitamins along with 2 fish oil pills daily. I read that the recommended daily amount is 300mgs, but that is conflicting as you mentioned. I think I was taking about 475mgs total daily...anyway, they say the asian culture eats tons of omega 3 fatty acids primarily from fresh fish and there has been no reportings of problems...other than very bright children : ) Which I hope I have!!
Avatar m tn Levels used in therapy to lower blood triglycerides, also a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, are higher, about 2-4 grams of combined EPA and DHA per day. The OSU studies with mice used DHA at levels comparable to the triglyceride therapies. "DHA was more effective than EPA at attenuating inflammation, oxidative stress, fibrosis and hepatic damage," the researchers wrote in their conclusion.
Avatar f tn I've had hives since the middle of the summer. I don't know what caused them and I don't know how to get rid of them. I was tanning in a tanning bed and going to lakes so I don't know if it's from any of that. One day I noticed them on my neck when i was getting on my swim suit to go to the lake. I thought something had bitten me. I put my sister's sun block on my shoulders, arms, stomache and chest areas. The next day I had hives all over the places i put the sun block.
518994 tn?1212242047 A Fox Terrier would require 500mg Omega-3 Fatty acids daily, preferably in divided doses. The Omega-3 fatty acid product can be manufactured for humans or pets. As Dr. Osborne stated, begin with a much smaller amount and gradually increase over time to the recommended dose to avoid gastrointestinal difficulties. Omega 3 fatty acids are helpful for the increased health of the heart and circulatory system, for joints, skin the immune system, and more.
