467126 tn?1283144858 Pregnancy and tanning is always a touchy subject. Some salon owners don’t allow it, while others think it’s completely fine—in fact, many female salon owners say they tanned throughout their own pregnancies. What I hadn’t heard before was a question regarding the safety of sunless tanning while pregnant.
412873 tn?1329174455 Sunless tanning products may contain anywhere between 1 to 15 percent DHA; the higher the DHA level, the darker the tan produced. Manufacturers of sunless tan products claim that DHA is a simple carbohydrate sugar solution but a toxicologist who investigated the harmful effects of tanning beds disagrees. Even the FDA has not approved the use of DHA in spray tan booths. The FDA previously approved the use of DHA as an ingredient in tanning products but strictly for topical application only.
415867 tn?1323365503 However, if you use a fake tan spray or a spray-tanning booth, then you may inhale some of the DHA or erythrulose. We don’t know how it will affect you or your baby if you inhale the chemicals. To be on the safe side during pregnancy, try to stick with fake tans that you can apply by rubbing, not spraying. If you do want to use a spray, make sure the room is well aired. Also protect your eyes and lips with barrier cream or petroleum jelly.
Avatar m tn Hello, According to the American Academy of Dermatology, the most effective products available are sunless- or self-tanning lotions that contain dihydroxyacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. Another popular form of sunless tanning is the bronzer. These powders and moisturizers, once applied, create a tan that can easily be removed with soap and water. More like make-up, these products tint or stain your skin only until they are washed off.
Avatar f tn t smell disgusting like others and it goes down smoothly, but the price kills me! Even with the discount you can get online and my insurance, it is $52. The pharmacist said it is because there isn't a generic brand. Does anyone take anything else that is different and is any more reasonable in price; and of course good for the baby? Thanks!
Avatar f tn Is spray tanning bad for the baby? Im 22 weeks and verrrry white and I need some color! Lol. I heard I can't lay out in the sun because I could get sun spots.
Avatar f tn So I didnt want to risk tanning or pay the price of a spray tan so I went and bought L'oreal Sublime Bronze tinted self tanning lotion. Im super pasty and it made me super sad that I had no color. But this product is AMAZING! no streaks.
5049711 tn?1364572195 Depends where you go, definitely ask a doctor but I know that the one by me uses a product that's purely a DHA protein so I'm assuming its not bad but I'm gonna ask my doc too cuz I'm a pasty mofo, but you can go in a tanning bed, if you go 3 times a week for no longer then 8 min your fine ( depending on the bed), if stick with the lower beds that produce more UVB rays ( the burning rays) because they produce more vitamin d which is essential for the baby, the only danger factor
Avatar f tn I know I'm not allowed to go to a tanning bed. And i don't tan well outside.. so I was wondering what type of self tanners you guys use.
9310208 tn?1410859285 I've been taking some gummy prenatal vitamins. I've been getting tired of the taste of them so I wanted to switch. I went into GNC and bought the women's prenatals with dha. They were 19.99 for 90 pills which I though was a great price for three months but I did some research and you have to take THREE pills a day.... anyone else bought these ?
Avatar f tn Yes you need to.
1166767 tn?1315427171 d be ok for you to take Duet DHA instead of Gesticare DHA. Those are the ones I take and they are great. They even have a generic which of course has the excat same thing for only $5.00. It is also prescription. You don't have to pay that much for your vitamins :) Good Luck!
1998326 tn?1447103765 I am not a doctor, but I would say the miscarraiges & problems for those women were not related at all to pityriasis rosea. I know it's hard to know for sure, but because my pityriasis is responding to the tanning bed (after doing research the UV light has helped in some studies), my bet is it is just a skin condition. It is not a fungus, but it's very unusual that it responds/gets better with UV light. I had my second tanning visit today (for just 5 minutes each time)...
1730786 tn?1310092814 Hi all, So I have tanned before and I have fairly sensitive skin with lots of freckles, but usually after I continue tanning in the bed and slowly building up my time, my skin gets use to the UV rays. It takes time but I can usually get there. Until now.. It all started a few months ago when I was trying to build up a base tan before summer and after about a week or so of tanning I noticed that I was getting this rash looking thing on my chest.
12426295 tn?1426875995 I take Nature Made Prenatal multi + DHA. I buy them from Costco, good price and they don't make me sick at all.
Avatar f tn Does ur prenatal vitamins have dha? Is it ok to take them tablets with dha? The one i take doesn't have it but im trying to get gummies to substitute but all gummies seem to have dha.
Avatar f tn Okay so my current prenatal vitamin does not have Dha in it...is it possible for me to take a Dha vitamin in conjunction with my prenatal vitamin?...if so what is a good brand to take?
372206 tn?1235168293 No tanning in tanning beds! Why would you even want to risk it? There are sacrifices that you need to make during pregnancy, it's ONLY 9 months of your life to devote to keeping your little one protected. Please, for the sake of your baby don't take the chance.... small price to pay for the BIG reward you will be getting in just 27 short weeks.
Avatar f tn I'm 11 weeks pregnant with my 1st child. Just had my first prenatal visit over a week ago. Doc said he wanted me start omega pills & handed me a flyer with different brand name options. The one that stood out was Nordic Naturals. I went to their website, click the pregnancy tab & reviewed the options for pregnancy which were Cod liver oil & Prenatal DHA. My best friend who already has a child told me the cod liver oil was the best so I decided to buy it.
Avatar n tn One is the vitamin and one is a DHA soft gel. I just got them at the drug store. I started taking them we stated trying, so definitely start right away.
Avatar f tn if the doc has some it will only b like a weeks sample. i suggest when u find out the price unless covered by insurance u should see about the othe vitamins they have in the store because it will be the same thing one may just b cheaper. and make sure it has dha.
Avatar f tn So i visited a friend today and she looked at my prenatal vitamins that i had with me and was surprised they didn't have dha in them. She gave me some dha vitamins and recommended that i take them and continue to do so. My dr didn't mention dha. Am i alone in this?
Avatar f tn The FDA says that it is safer to have DHA from a non fish source. I say the DHA is straight from the fish and not good to take! I would not take it or stop. I take the one Enfimil makes and it is I think $11 a month from Walmart and it is from a none fish source. I would tell your ob you wnat another one if you don't want that one!
318269 tn?1241350235 I love tanning but would never do it while pregnant....I haven't even gone while TTC b/c I wasn't sure of the effects of it......Really, (and again, I LOVE tanning) it's not good for us, it certainly can't be good for baby......No point in risking it when they all kinds of lovely tanning creams now.....I just talked to my stark white Mom who is going to Costa Rica on Fri. and she used the Jergens 3 day tan ans said it's UNREAL....
