Common Questions and Answers about Dha benefits body

Avatar m tn Some experts have said that the balance between Omega 6 fatty acids and Omega 3 is key, but just as many say this is nonsense. Omega 3 do have benefits, mainly reducing inflammation in the body, such as in the arteries or joints. It can also reduce your clotting factor if taken in too high doses, causing excessive bleeding. Experts do agree on one thing, take omega 3 acids from foods rather than supplements. Without a doubt, having enough Omega 3 acids in your diet does improve health.

7062279 tn?1388373686 Some women don't like fish, or won't eat it because they're afraid of the mercury content, but the DHA in capsure form is mercury free, and has a lot of really good benefits for you and baby (if you weren't getting DHA from the pills, or from eating lots of fish, baby would just take the DHA in your body and use that, but you use it too, so you'd be in short supply). It is perfectly safe and even encouraged to help baby grow healthy.
Avatar n tn Since I was a teen, I have had these random sharp pains throughout various parts of my body that will occur in concentrated bursts of pain in a particular area for short periods of time. Sometimes pain will re-appear in the same area throughout the day and other times it will appear at seemingly unrelated part of my body. For example, it happened today and began with concentrated burst of pain half way up my inner left thigh.

They have 240mg of DHA and 360mg of EPA in 2 capsules. My doctor told me to take them, but online I've been finding that the fish oil and other things in the over the counter supplements may be bad during pregnancy.

But this relaxation effect may be what leaves patients susceptible to infections. The prevailing wisdom right now is to weigh the benefits with the risks. So if you haven't had that conversation with your doctor, it's time you give him a call—and see if there's a drug-free option.

Avoid taking too much of the supplement, as high doses can raise the body's vitamin A & D levels too high. Make sure you always follow the recommended dosages.
122065 tn?1241388929 Yes, I do take ******* Omega Guard which is a full spectrum of seven Omega-3's including DHA and EPA. I understand that there have been many studies on the benefits of Omega Fish oil on the eyes and body as a whole, so I started using it sometime ago. I'll continue with that and give the Restasis a good try. I have no risk factors such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or obesity, so I think your suggestion of 2 a day is fine.
Avatar f tn If you don’t have adequate supplies of DHA in your body, your fetus’ brain is going to have trouble keeping up with the growing demand for DHA building blocks. Thus, pregnancy is a critical time to take fish oil supplements. Fish oil can also help pregnant women avoid two serious conditions that can occur during pregnancy: pregnancy-induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia) and gestational diabetes.

798555 tn?1292791151 Well, thyroid does have an effect on all body parts, digestion and the nervous system too. When people are low in T3 (some dont convert well from T4) muscle pain and tendonitis happens to some people, it is repeatedly brought up in the thyroid board. This is why T4 meds dont always alleviate body pain with hashimoto. T3 is a key player in the ATP process. So low T3 will slow down healing, and increase possible injury, and aggravate past injuries.
Avatar f tn I get the same as sara Nature's made at Walgreen another thing I use is Krill Oil it helps replenish DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) & EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) both are used to rebuild brain functions & Prostaglandins below is some info on Prostaglandins: DHA AS A BRAIN FOOD Fats make up sixty percent of the brain and the nerves that run every system in the body. Avatar f tn The anti-inflammatory effects of omega-3 fatty acids on multiple systems of the body suggest a role in treating cancer patients. There is an increasing body of evidence showing that omega-3 fatty acids, particularly eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), limit tumor growth. A certain level of linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid) is required, and it is almost impossible (and not advisable!) to formulate a food that has no omega-6 fatty acids.
Avatar f tn   For healthy adults, the recommendation is 300-500 mg per day of EPA and DHA combined, plus an additional 800 to 1100 mg of ALA.  The EPA/DHA recommendation can usually be met with one softgel capsule of fish oil (with 1 gram or 1000 mg of fish oil) which usually contains 180 mg of EPA and 120 mg of DHA, totalling 300 mg of the two omega-3s.
Avatar m tn Maintain your ideal body weight. One way to judge your ideal body weight is via body mass index (BMI). Your BMI represents the percentage of your total body weight that’s due to fat. Scientific Evidence Two types of fatty acids are considered essential.

Avatar m tn I am 22 years old, have had back and whole body problems ever since a neck injury two years ago. I have done everything to heal and I have made great strides. I need a morale boost, can people post there injuries, progress, and what they have done to recover; of course you may post whatever you feel is appropriate.
