Common Questions and Answers about Detrol la vs vesicare

detrol

Avatar f tn VESICARE,ENABLEX OR DETROL LA..........I m male and 29 yrs old ,can i also take detrol la.....Any response should be highly appreciated..........
Avatar n tn Hi, My doctor had tried me on Vesicare but the side effects out weight the benefits. I was given Buscopan and Detrol LA to cope with bladder problems. I had a lot of problems with pain spasms and urgency. The Buscopan and Detrol LA help but in a case where I have severe pain, I now use Morphine.
Avatar n tn I now use Detrol LA and Buscopan to combat these spasms. It does not get rid of them but it does dull the intensity.
Avatar m tn I have been told by my doctor that I have a chronic case of IC....(about three years ago) I was ok for awhile and, now the severe pain has returned....which meant I had to return to my urologist....He gave me elmiron and vesicare to treat the IC....the Elmiron never helped my pain and, the Vesicare took my blood pressure from 113/72 pulse 68 to 153/103 pulse 122...I contacted my urologist and, he stated...that's not true ... neither of these meds would cause your blood pressure to go up...
Avatar f tn Hi sandie, my bladder problem was frequency and urgency. I used to get up 5 to 8 times at night, and now I only have to get up once or twice per night because of my prescription of Detrol LA. (i'm not sure if this is like Vesicare or not) I don't recal ever getting the pains, tingling, etc you're asking about. Maybe it's because i'm a male...or i just don't remember.
Avatar f tn My symptoms did not improve and I began on Vesicare, which did not help, and now I am on Detrol LA. This does not seem to be helping either. I am continuing to urinate 20-30 times a day. Sitting also makes it worse. Please help. I cannot continue to live like this. This discussion is related to Urinary Urgency/Frequency/Incontinence.
Avatar f tn They will put you on the new medicines for overactive bladder like Detrol LA or Vesicare. As for the being thristy--sometimes this is a side effect of medicines but you really need to be checked by a doctor right away. Hope this helped and everything is fine.
Avatar n tn , but i have had Detrol-LA, vesicare and Oxytrol patch, biofeedback therapy, then an InterStim Therapy triiial, now i self cath 4-6 x day. Cyndi an dHEather are right, you can self cath and keep UTI at bay ,with good hygene, drinking enough water ( i know a catch 22!) and with supliments. My uro has giving me multiple refills for antibiotic to refil so i can jump on infection with i get one. DO those medicines you mention ease retention?
Avatar f tn to treatments: anticholinergics (Detrol, Oxybutinin, Vesicare for bladder issues)
Avatar f tn More fuel for the fire, but 2 32oz bottles a day or you will get dehydrated on the medicine I am about to recommend. For me, Detrol LA, Vesicare, Enablex didn't do anything for me.They helped, but not fully or it gave up entirely on me. The miracle pill that worked for me is Sanctura XR. It is expensive. $100 via mail order for a 3 month bottle. It really works. 92% of the OAB is gone if not more. Problem is the side effects are common. For me, I have every side effect.
Avatar f tn My neurologist recently put me on a Detrol LA for a week, then had me add Flomax. I noticed a slight improvement with the Detrol, but when I added the Flomax things urinary got dramatically better. But, shortly after starting the Flomax, I discovered that I did not produce any ejaculate! Not that sex is a big thing with me (staying upright while standing takes precidence), but it is still an important part of life (if only rarely).
Avatar f tn Sometimes anticholinergic medications like oxybutynin (ditropan), detrol or vesicare may help. Please consult your doctor, he will prescribe appropriate medications for you. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure, but have you (or has he) checked with his cardiologist? If so, what does he/she say? Hope the move goes well and you enjoy your new home!
Avatar f tn Yes, I have it too, but not as bad as you. I have taken a medication in the past called Detrol and it worked great. I have this problem on and off, so I take no medication now. I would recommend you consult a Urologist. Kegel exercises are good, but I think your situation is beyond kegels.
Avatar n tn Overactive bladder +/- a vaginal infection may be the problem. Urispas is a mild overactive bladder agent. There are many stronger ones including Detrol LA and Vesicare. If the vaginal swab and urine cultures come back negative you need to see a Urologist who specializes in female urology to evaluate for overactive bladder vrs. IC. Good Luck.
Avatar n tn I worked for a urologist and we used a TENS unit type treatment called Uroplasty, that stimulates the tibial nerve with aids with bladder control. Detrol LA is also the highest recommended urinary incontinence treatment by physicians. Hope this helps a little.
Avatar n tn Sometimes even after curing the pelvic muscle trigger points, some women still have the urinary frequency/urgency. In those cases I would start my patients on a medication like Detrol or Vesicare which is a medication that can calm the bladder muscle down, and reduce the feeling of a need to urinate. Dr.
Avatar f tn I've tried Detrol, Ditropan, and Vesicare. One I was allergic to and the other two made my dry mouth so much drier that I couldn't handle it. I have heard that those three drugs are a great help to many people. I've modified my diet some, which helps some, and drink plenty of water; the more condensed urine is, the more irritating it feels to me and wants to come out NOW! :o) I wear pantyliners to catch the occasional leaks, changing them fairly often.
Avatar f tn I would start by treating you with an overactive bladder medication like ditropan or vesicare and see what happens to your symptoms. If they no not respond, then treating you IC may be the ultimate solution. Good Luck.
1373769 tn?1278603610 t approve it until I had failed both Detrol LA and Oxybutinin ER. The Detrol made me sooooooooooooo sick, that at one point I thought I might be having a heart attack (and I am not that kind of worrier). However, the Oxybutinin worked as well as the Vesicare and I have stayed on it. It only has about a 10 hour action in me, even though it is supposed to be a 24hr med, so I take it every 12 hours. I only have mild side effects. Why are some days worse than others and unpredictable?
1038969 tn?1269496039 One of the drugs that you might want to ask your doctor about is Detrol LA. Vesicare is another one that can be used to treat this. For myself, Vesicare had terrible side effects. Nausea and dizzyness being some of the problems. Besides these two drugs are not the only two, there are several other forms of drug treatment. Buscopan is also used to eleviate bladder spasms. Pyridium (not sure if I spelled it right) might help to overcome some bladder discomfort.
Avatar n tn Yes, both cystoscopes showed bladder lining clear and pink, no irritation, got the microlab back today and no cancer cells, so that was good, only thing abnormal was the WBC Esterase was abnormal and Urologist said back to stronger antibiotic, Doxcycycline, and Detrol La to relieve muscle spasm... does that sound like urologist is on the right track? Thank you for your reply.
233622 tn?1279334905 This has happened to me once before. I woke up and realized I was releasing urine in little spurts all over myself & my bed. I can only guess there was some sort of muscle spasm going on down there. I do know exactly how scary/frustrating/embarrassing/confusing this is. It was a real eye-opener and a literal wake-up call that there was something serious going on with my body.
Avatar m tn ve tried many different overactive bladder medications, such as Detrol LA. I am now on Desmotabs, which I thank the world that I found, as this has all but stopped the night-time issue. Still, I wonder if there's anyone out there with my symptoms, that has found a way to best it. The D tabs are fantastic, and I can usually take a couple before going out with friends, and not have to make the usual 100 trips to the bathroom in a night, so it has greatly reduced my anxiety and embarrassment.
Avatar m tn I was put on Cipro XL for 6 days and the infection cleared but not the fequency and urgency to urinate. My doctor gave me Detrol LA a week ago and the symptoms have subsided greatly. On Sunday, my husband and I had intercourse. I lubed up well and all was good. Again on Tuesday night, we had intercourse - no pain. Wednesday morning, after I urinated, I noticed blood on the toilet paper. After 3 wipes, no more blood. There was not much blood. I went to the ER - urine is fine.
Avatar n tn He took another specimen and everything was clear. He gave me a weeks supply of Detrol LA.(not sure why because its not like I am having to go all the time I just feel like I do) I am still taking it on my third day. I am still not feeling normal. My belly feels bloated or full. I was just curious as to what could be making me feel this way and what should I do next. Is it my bladder or something else? Or can I still have an infection or could the infections have damaged my bladder?
