Avatar m tn Hi, Do not feel embarrassed, such problems are quite common and doctors are there to help you. So, do consult a urologist and get appropriate treatment. Here is a link that gives a lot of details about this problem: http://www.nafc.
Avatar f tn Antidiuretic hormone (ADH or vasopressin) is a hormone produced by the hypothalamus and stored in the posterior pituitary gland. ADH deficiency is known as diabetes insipidus. Symptoms are frequent thirst and urination. Treatment is desmopressin (synthetic replacement for vasopressin) - taken 2 to 3 times a day.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone else has experienced diabetes insipidus? The reason for the test is because I have been extremely thirsty and urinating almost every 1.5 hours a day. I received a copy of the test results. They tested my ADH level (arginine vasopressin) The results are L<1.0 Range:1.0-13.3  They say there are different types of diabetes insipidus, basically that the kidneys are not doing what they are supposed to do or a pituitary issue.
Avatar n tn On those days (when he takes two puffs) he only goes to the bathroom 4-5 times the whole day, which is great because I can take him places and get him out of the house. Does anyone know or take Desmopressin more often than one time a day??? If so how many times?? Any information would be helpful!!
Avatar m tn But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea. Be sure to carefully follow instructions for using this drug. Desmopressin is given orally as a tablet and is only for patients over 5 years old.
Avatar f tn Usually what happens is when starting meds for AD, you wind up, through trial and error, going through sometimes MAny meds and dosages before you get to the one that "Works for You"..I am starting on my 4th one tomorrow. Hoping it will be the "one". I would certainly give your doc a call tomorrow as you should not have to continue tdeal w/ those symptoms. Is it a Cardio who rx'ed you this?
Avatar f tn Carbamazepine may cause SIADH (syndrome of inappropriate anti-diuretic hormone), since it both increases the release and potentiates the action of ADH (vasopressin). This raises blood pressure by inducing moderate vasoconstriction. Thus you could say it is an indirect side-effect of tegretol. ref:http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn New Studies Show Optimizing Vitamin D Levels May Double Chances of Surviving Breast Cancer, Lower LDL Cholesterol, and Helps Prevent Autism A recent meta-analysis found that breast cancer patients who had high vitamin D levels (average 30 ng/ml) were twice as likely to survive compared to women with low levels (average 17 ng/ml) Vitamin D has a number of anticancer effects, including the promotion of cancer cell death, and the inhibition of angiogenesis (the growth of blood vessels that feed
Avatar f tn i went to the er and had my blood work taken and urine taken and all the test results came back fine nothing wrong does anyone else know a reason why this would be happening?
Avatar n tn when i then urinate it is only a very small amount but my bladder feels empty and i can go to sleep.. this occurrs sometimes 10 times a night. I also get the feeling in the afternoon and evening but it is not bothersome that i need to urinate immediately. i only have the problem when im tryin to sleep. i can hold it in but is obviously uncomfotable. ive had a few prostrate checks, ostoscopy and bladder biopsies over the years but they have not shown any problems.
Avatar f tn I too have DI but i take desmopressin and hydrocortizone daily. I found if I break the 20mg desmopressin into quarters I do better. The 5mg just didn't seem to work for me. I take it morning and night and other than a 10lb weight gain I have not had any side affects. If I don't take enough I feel fatigued and if I take to much my weight goes up but when the dose was decreased the bulk of the weight came off. Have you tried other medications?
Avatar f tn I go through bouts of what seems like diabetes insipidus, but i am having to pee every 20-30 minutes, and my bladder is pretty full---and I'm not drinking fluids. it will last a couple of hours, and then quit. i haven't figured out what is going on---but i do have hypopituitarism.
Avatar n tn Hi, You had underwent a thorough assessment and seems like incontinence and interstitial cystitis were ruled out. When was the last time you had a cystoscopy done? Were you able to get some blood tests done.Hormonal imbalance due to pituitary dysfunction and diabetes may lead to increased urinary frequency( after structural problems like stones have ben ruled out) .Also are you previously taking any medications?
Avatar m tn I get facial migraines and am extrmely sensitive to light, sun, smells and loud noises. You?
Avatar f tn Sweating and shivering,Chronic pain mainly in feet, legs and arms. Loss of mobility and spends most of his days in bed or in his room. Myotonic seizures, labored breathing and on oxygen. Difficulty swallowing, constipation and diarrhea, loss of memory, cognitive dysfunction, electric shocks up the spine, stammers when talking, depression, extreme fatigue. Sharp shooting pains in his chest, amongst other symptoms.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately I pee/ and get thirsty without the med. Right now I am taking the smallest pill, and break it in half. I take it before I go to bed. I seem to be able to do ok without taking it during the day (because I can drink/pee as much as i need to. If I do not take the DDAVP at night I wake up 4-6 times needing to drink water and pee. What test said that you do not need DDAVP? The water deprivation test is the gold standard. I hope to hear from you.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm hoping someone on here can help me. I am an 18 year old female and my weight is 135lb. My blood pressure all my life has been very low - normal for me is ~85/50. However in the last few months it has been going down to ~ 48/30 and none of my doctors (and I've had several) can understand why and also why at this low I just feel really dizzy as I should be in a coma with blood pressure this low. Does anyone have any idea as to why?
Avatar n tn For my whole life, I have had problems with bedwetting; I wake up in the night and my bed is soaked with pee and it is not a matter of me being lazy. ( I do not have incontinence during the day). There are times when this problem has gotten better, but it has never completely gone away and has always been an issue that I worry about and am deeply embarrassed about and ashamed of. It has been especially bad recently (I wet the bed 3 times this week), and is making me feel depressed and hopeless.
Avatar m tn If still the symptoms persist then medical treatment with desmopressin, imipramine and anticholinergics can be tried. Hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar m tn Since oxytocin, dopamine, lactin, serotonin, testosterone, estrogen, vasopressin, and other major sex hormones are released during sex for various reasons, could increasing the major sex hormones directly responsible for the euphoric, pleasurable feelings during an orgasm increase the pleasure felt during an orgasm? I don't know how it would be done, but if you can think of ways that do not involve harmful drugs or any harmful method, please let me know.
Avatar f tn My 2 1/2 yr old. goes to the bathroom so much that sometimes we have to pull over on the side of the highway so she can go. She often tells us that her eyes hurt and that she does'nt feel good. she does drink alot and she is up in the middle of the night wanting to go to the bathroom. Once I recorded her going to the bathroom about 25 times in one day, it may be more. She bruies very easy and she has this sore on the coner of her mouth that has not healed in three weeks.
Avatar f tn 5 hours before bedtime and was put on desmopressin .2mg nightly over the last year with no success. Her primary doctor added another medication and said to check back in 3 months. Her primary physician said that we should hold back on going to see a urologist. I was wondering if you can give me advise in what to do. HOW do you go about taking to your doctor and demanding a referral to a a specialist as a urologist with out being mean?
Avatar f tn t seem to be an issue. Then my urologist gave me desmopressin and oxybutinin, nether of which have worked. I've wet the bed every night for the longest time-I might have a random night where I don't but yeah it's just random. I'm completely soaked when I wake up, and I've developed diaper rash and I have clothes that are turning brown and it's gross and it's ruining my life. Any advice?
