Avatar m tn I have Dermatographic urticaria...please suggest me best drug for it and how long shuld i take it?
Avatar f tn I’ve seen a dermatologist for this and she concluded that it’s Urticaria although I don’t have any rashes or hives. She prescribed me Aerius (desloratadine) but it doesn’t stop the itching at all and is completely useless as far as I can tell. What’s also strange is that I currently live in Dubai, UAE where I was born and raised and have supposedly gotten used to the heat. However, my condition started when I came back to Dubai after living in the UK for five years.
Avatar n tn Took for 1week 5mg desloratadine after my ivf. transfer. Started the antihistamine day 6 after embryo transfer without thinking or consulting the dr.(i always took it during pregnancy and thought its safe but never at such an early stage of pregnancy). Tested positive BHCG day8 after transfer +hcg22 day11+hcg53 day16 hcg56 day18 dropped hcg36. Can the reason of miscarriage be the use of antihistamine ? can antihistamine stop implantation from continuing ?
Avatar m tn I am a 26 years old male and I have recently been diagnosed with chronic urticaria. My symptoms started 3 months ago when my skin started itching and I developed some dyshidrosis in my hands. I consulted my GP and he suggested it could be some allergy due to spring (south hemisphere) that we should wait maybe it would go on its own. It didn't. So I made a consult with a dermatologist. I had lots of tests done (blood, liver, kidneys, IgE, cholesterol) everything was good.
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced urticaria with sofosbuvir / ledipasvir ( no RBV ) treatment ? I'm entering week 4 Many Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn It can be seen in patients with urticaria or allergic dermatitis. It is usually seen secondary to exposure to allergen and subsequent reaction is mediated by IgE antibodies. Your body is known to hypersensitive to certain things. Stinging insects, Aeroallergens (uncommon), Foods and additives like Milk, egg, peanuts, nuts, soy, and wheat are the most common agents to cause such allergic manifestations.
Avatar n tn A complete history with proper evaluation can confirm the cause for urticaria. Treatment depends upon the cause for urticaria. Prevention of the allergen is the most important part of treatment of this condition. Best.
Avatar n tn Why does a person who has had 2 children start getting urticaria after taking an antibiotic course of 10 days the third time she takes it? Then next time the doctor prescribes her on another type of antibiotic and then same thing happens, she is okay the first time she has to take it and usually the second but around the second or third time over a course of 3 to 5 years, she gets the urticaria again after taking the same antibiotic that she used for 3 or more years.
Avatar n tn there are multiple types of Urticaria where things like sun, cold, and other reactants cause the hivings Please make sure to type in normal font. Delayed pressure urticaria is a type of chronic hives called physical urticaria because the hives are caused by a certain stimulus on the body. In this case, the stimulus is pressure that's applied to the skin. Delayed pressure urticaria is common. One investigator found that 37% of people with chronic hives had this type of urticaria.
Avatar f tn I know the names cold urticaria and cold sore are similar by coincidence and that the cold sores could have originally been caused by the stress of the sudden cold urticaria, but is there any other possible connections between cold sores and cold urticaria or something that could cause both of these? Thank you!
Avatar n tn Symptoms follow any stimulus to sweat such as exercise (sometimes called exercise-induced urticaria), heat from the sun (which could also indicate solar urticaria), saunas, hot showers (reaction to water can also indicate water urticaria), spicy foods which may cause an increase in body temperature or even stress due to blushing or anger. The affected area will often feel warm and can be extremely itchy or exhibit a burning sensation.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think you are having physical form of urticaria. Urticaria occurs usually without any cause, but in some exposure to extreme climates, allergies, physical stimulation of skin have been implicated as the cause for occurrence of urticaria. You can consult a dermatologist for confirmation by mimicking the stimulus like scratching for occurrence of urticaria. Treatment is with use of antihistamines, topical steroid creams, immunomodulators etc. Take care.
Avatar f tn I was then sent to a dermatologist who did a biopsy and more blood work. The biopsy showed Urticaria Vasculities and blood showed my SPEP levels were off and he suggested a hemotologist...I am at loss for words and at the end of the rope. I have lots of weird things that have been going on with me besides hives, like loss of hair, major sweating, tingeling in my fingers and arms, thowing up, stomach pains, diarhea, bad memory, headaches, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, extreme fatigue..
Avatar f tn Hello, Water urticaria, or aquagenic urticaria, is a rare condition in which hives develop within 1 to 15 minutes after contact with water. The hives last for 10 to 120 minutes and do not seem to be caused by histamine release like the other physical hives. Most investigators believe that this condition is actually exquisite skin sensitivity to additives in the water such as chlorine but distilled water can also cause this reaction.

Some people only have symptoms during the winter months where their body temperature rises when it is unacclimatized to heat.

Avatar f tn TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), free T3, free T4, thyroid antibodies - thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), and thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb). "In conditions of chronic urticaria, thyroid antibodies are not only indicators of chronic inflammation, but they appear to play a role in the disease process.
Avatar f tn One month ago ( around the time that I stopped nursing my 10-month-old) I started getting random lip swelling. From there it turned into itchy hives all over my body. I got a lot of blood work done for my allergist and immunologist everything came back normal but my CU index (chronic urticaria) was slightly elevated suggesting it's autoimmune response. He tested for a large variety of autoimmune disorders. The doctor is treating my symptoms with Zantac, Zyrtec, and Singulair.
