Avatar f tn High humidity for me is the worse, extreme heat also affects me, now - I live in Canada so winter is fast approaching and when it is humid and cold I get hives instead of the other symptoms. I only have treated with the antihistamines but would like to see what everyone else does to cope.
Avatar m tn My symptoms started 3 months ago when my skin started itching and I developed some dyshidrosis in my hands. I consulted my GP and he suggested it could be some allergy due to spring (south hemisphere) that we should wait maybe it would go on its own. It didn't. So I made a consult with a dermatologist. I had lots of tests done (blood, liver, kidneys, IgE, cholesterol) everything was good. I started taking fexofenadine 180mg per day with no results for about a week.

I am 25 years single male and I never had any skin problem until last month...It just started itching all over my body and I smoothly itch and itch and can't stop myself from itching.....I started to take Zyrtec for few days according to doctor's guidance.....It does not itch that night and until next day.....When I stopped medicine after 3 weeks, it started all again...uuuhhhh.....I went to doctor again...
1331658 tn?1275341605 So I went off of it and 3days later I went straight backwards, I called them back up and asked them if I could take 20mg of Loratadine a day and they said I could. The next day when I took 20mg of it, my hips doubled in strength again! And then after a couple months of being on 20mg or Loratadine a day I added 10mg of Cetirizine a day with it, and my hips and legs are working better than they ever have, hands down! My phicial therapist says that my hips are at about 50% and 60% now.

Avatar m tn Ok I know this might be far fetched but one day me and my ex were having sex he had already been suffering headaches but then he ran to the bathroom and vomited and was dizzy and light headed. .. I brought him to er and he had had an brain anurism...I know I'm not sleeping that right I apologize. .. so I suggest in any case that you have a severe headache and vomiting and dizziness you go to the ER.

Avatar f tn Allegra, Zyrtec or loratadine. I was on 12.5 zoloft for 2 weeks and tapering up to 25 mg (split another 12.5 in half so 3/4 a pill then one whole 25 mg. I have to do this slowly as I am super sensitive to meds. Thanks for any help. Plus I eventually need to taper down my ativan when I level on the zoloft.
Avatar n tn Loratadine is considered a placebo by many doctors (and many patients that I have talked to). Zyrtec and Allegra are good choices. Since Allegra just came OTC, it will be much more expensive the Zyrtec generic. I take Zyrtec. Take care and feel better. God bless.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm leaving in Sweden since 4 years, and my asthma get worse and worse each year, because, unfortunately for me, it's sensitive to the cold and the hygrometry. Here I take everyday a lot of medicines (SINGULAIR, SERETIDE, VENTOLINE, PREDNISOLONE, NASONEX, LORATADINE), especially Cortisone so I'm largely overweight (85 kg for 165 cm). I decided to diet 3 days ago, and i choose to follow the ATKINS program, which works really great with me.
1372727 tn?1279195840 I went into a pharmacy and talked to druggist one day and explained it to her and she said it sounded like an alergy and gave me some over the counter Loratadine Tables, used for indoor and outdoor allergies and it does work for me if I don't forget to take it, that is.
Avatar m tn Apply calamine lotion at the site of the lesions and see if it helps. You could take some oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine. You need to maintain a good personal hygiene . Anti-itch drugs, often antihistamine, may reduce the itch during a flare up of eczema, and the reduced scratching in turn reduces damage and irritation to the skin. For mild-moderate eczema a weak steroid may be used (e.g.

Avatar f tn Pregnancy may be complicated by new-onset or preexistent allergic disease, including rhinitis, anaphylaxis, urticaria and angioedema, and atopic dermatitis. Pregnancy and asthma is extensively studied. Of the currently available preparations, chlorpheniramine has been recommended as the first generation antihistamine of choice for use during pregnancy. Based on the information available, loratadine or cetirizine may be considered the second generation antihistamines of choice.
Avatar f tn You could take oral antihistamine medications like cetrizine or loratadine and see if it helps with your symptoms. Also take steam inhalation and saline nasal drops several times a day. If your symptoms still persist, you should consult your doctor/ ENT specialist because then you would need to get certain investigations done and would probably need steroid nasal sprays and a course of antibiotics. Let us know about any other doubts that you have and post us on how you are doing. Regards.
4319578 tn?1352739861 Antihistamines block the histamine receptors and prevent histamine from acting and thus help in preventing rashes. Loratadine belongs to the class of medications called second-generation antihistamines. So, as long as you take the medication, you are unlikely to have the symptoms. For now continue with the medication, long term you can plan to consult an allergy specialist for desensitization. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

450190 tn?1205509947 Hi, You could try oral antihistamine medications like loratadine or cetrizine. You should also try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops and see if this helps with your symptoms. Are you allergic to any specific substance? Are your symptoms aggravated or relieved by any factors? How long have you had these symptoms? If your symptoms still persist, it would be advisable to see your doctor or allergy specialist about this and get a complete clinical examination done.
Avatar f tn In the past week, I have been to urgent care once and the ER twice. I have been prescribed loratadine, hydroxyzine, 6 days of 20mgs of prednisone...the prednisone helped a little, but was back to square one after it ran out. The hydroxizine only helps if I take 30mgs at a time rather than spread out throughout the day. The loratadine seems to do nothing. I ended up back in the ER after a day of being at work and symptoms not going away after being at home.
Avatar n tn t think to much of it because I was spending a lot of time in the sun. In the last month the patches have become pink and have spread to my chest and my upper thighs. When I'm sweating or really hot they really flare up and are very red and noticeable. They aren't itchy and are very small. It seems to be concentrated around my belly button which seems to stay pink most of the day, but sometimes fades to white, but much more pale than my natural skin color.
