ddavp

Avatar m tn How long did it take for your diabetes insipidus to resolve? how long did it take for your doctor to prescribe testosterone? My endo refuses to prescribed the testosterone as he says that should recover by itself, however I am exhausted all day. I am on ddavp (sublingual pill) and 10mg of prednisone.
Avatar f tn she will have 4 packets of oatmeal and a glass of milk in the am. Another possible symptom is nocturnal enuresis. She is on DDAVP at night .05 mg X approx. 4 months. If I remember to wake her up around 2am she may be dry, before the DDAVP she was going through 2 goodnights diapers a night... if I didn't change it midway she and the bed would be completely soaked. Anyway, her Thyroid was hyperactive, and she is allergic to Milk and Eggs (she did have hives when we were at the Dr).
Avatar f tn How do you wean off the medicine DDAVP? I've been taking this medicine for many years only to find out my tests say I don't need it (I had small injury to pituitary in brain). Unfortunately I find it almost impossible to wean off because it makes you go to the bathroom ALOT after the medicine ware's off! since it's an anti diuretic/water retaining pill! Confusing and tricky.
Avatar m tn DDAVP, Stimate, Minirin) is a synthetic replacement for vasopressin, the hormone that reduces urine production. It may be taken nasally, or as a tablet. Lack of the hormone vasopressin is more common in men than in women. Typically, those that do not produce enough will "correct" by the end of puberty (19-25 years old for men). Check with your urologist about the possibility of this treatment. Best of luck.
Avatar m tn She would tell you if something is happening in her life (besides the stress over this topic) that could be causing her emotional distress, wouldn't she? Bullying, abuse, anxiety over someone leaving, etc.? Is she able to hold it appropriately and use the loo properly in the day? How long was she in night diapers (maybe she simply got used to the association of sleep and peeing)?
723488 tn?1278339300 But maybe having something to do with the muscles? nerves in colon? AT 11 yrs old he has Enuresis too - could these problems be connected?
Avatar n tn My question is I have asked her endocrinologist to prescribe DDAVP for her to take during several camps she has this summer. He will not because of a chance she could have a seizure. I can't remember the exact reason but it does have to do with her diabetes and how DDAVP interact in a diabetic's body. He said the chance is very low, but possible. Could you give me your thoughts on a Type 1 diabetic using DDAVP.
Avatar f tn The doctor says its ok but not for me. Its driving me crazy!!! She had a twin sister but she is smarter than she is. PLEASE I NEED SOME ADVICE!!!!
1216899 tn?1288570325 ve already had one surgery for a CSF leak and am going back to California in May for another round of testing to see if it has come back and they can pinpoint it- I dunno if you have this though just throwing it out at you since you are in the process of being diagnosed. 572021 tn?1330905654 What are some good questions I should have for my childs doctor as well as information to help him determine if my son is suffering from one or both of these conditions?
1363339 tn?1338771053 I don’t take it regularly because I find it hard for me to balance out between hypo and hyper. I become tired with it. I always try to minimize stress as much as possible, laugh as much as possible, because I know stress make this disease worse and I’ve experienced it quite well if I got stressed out. Is it right that hormone insufficiencies can only be noticeable or come into effect sometime later.
Avatar n tn Hi, By age 11, most boys have become fully continent. Enuresis, or occasional incontinence like in your son may persist longer in a few kids. Most outgrow this. But if it bothers you, pl seek an appointment of a urologist, as wait-and-watch advise will just not help ease yor anxiety. All the best.
Avatar n tn By 'case study' do you mean a hypothetical scenario on paper, or are you being sent to work with a real family? I am sure if he is being bullied, and is soiling himself, then his aches and pains are very real and need to be dealt with. I am sure you mean that when he was five years old, his Mother died, and not as you said 'His Mother died at the age of five.' Enuresis, or 'Bed wetting' is not that unusual or uncommon in young boys.
Avatar m tn We have a 7 year old colllie just diagnosed with Diabetes Insipetes (nephrogenic). Vet recommends treatment with ddavp eye drop. All the information we can find says that this is "very expensive". Can you give us a ballpark of what this actually means for annual cost of care? What are the implications of leaving this untreated if she has on going access to fresh clean water?
Avatar f tn Please don't put your son in the position of having to answer to this. He is not responsible for the decisions his father makes. It would be better for your son if his father stopped this sleeping arrangement and stopped indulging him the way he does. However, your son will survive this. Try to focus your attention on your household and on being the best parent you can be when your son is with you.
Avatar f tn If he’s having a very hard time, there are monitors that you can purchase for enuresis that will sound a little alarm if he becomes wet. Often these alone are enough to work for treatment as the child becomes aware of the sensations that precede soiling and is then able to avoid it.
Avatar m tn this is a big step for me and very embarrassing i have been bed wetting all my life im 22 years old now i have a 2 year old son and live with my partner, he has to wake me up at night to let me no ive wet because i dont even realise, this can happen maybe 7 days a week ive tried tablets but nothing works for me the doctors are at a loose end no one knows what to do with me and this is ruining my life !!! please help ?
Avatar n tn This is very unusual behavior for a child her age, not so much for the nocturnal enuresis (about 5%-7% of children are still wet at night at that age), but because of the daytime enuresis. I would not automatically think of this as a psychological issue, though it could be. Has she been evaluated by a pediatric urologist?
Avatar n tn If you read about enuresis one of the things you will find is hiding clothes and sheets is all part of it- not sure why- I think for me it was shame and embarassment. Good luck! If you have not found a medical reason for the bed wetting I bet your daughter will outgrow it soon.
Avatar m tn Hello~First, your friend needs to be examined by the GP, there could be some reasons for this such as Diabetes, urinary track issues, infections, or other issues with the kidneys and/or bladder. There is a drug called Desmopressin (DDAVP) it reduces urine production at night. But drinking too much liquid with the medication can cause problems, and Desmopressin should be avoided if you have symptoms such as a fever, diarrhea or nausea.
Avatar f tn The tumor was germinoma. Yes u are right it was the optic nerve. I don't know for sure if my pituitary gland still functions I take ddavp, I also took growth hormones in the past and I take l cortef. But I'm not sure. Thanks so much I have a docs visit soon and Ill ask him more about my tumor. Thanks again for your help. And about the scar tissue he wants another MRI and then him and other docs will decide to do a biopsy or something els.
Avatar m tn s also suffering with nocturnal enuresis which every night compared to perhaps once a week a couple of years ago. We are trying to get an appointment with a neurologis again but the appointments are not available until 2 to 3 months from now. Has anyone experienced anything similar, any advice?
Avatar f tn Nocturnal enuresis has nothing to do with toilet training in the sense that it applies during the day. A certain percentage of children (approx. 5-10% depending on age) remain enuretic at night even when they are trained during the day. You should not be waking her up - there is no point. Over time this will resolve itself, with you really doing nothing. This depends more on development than on anything you do or do not do.
