Avatar m tn t it cause larger post void volumes?, which itself can cause nocturia. By the way by definition, nocturia alone, as in your case, is not a sufficient condition for Over Active Bladder (OAB) as can be seen from the following link: http://www.auanet.org/common/pdf/education/clinical-guidance/Overactive-Bladder.pdf In OAB, increased urinary frequency (both Day and Night) along with low urine volume with urgency, with out UTI are considered the main criteria.
Avatar m tn I had later unprotected vaginal sex two months ago. 48 hrs later I developed urethral pruritus followed by "prostatic" symptoms (frequency, decreased stream, nocturia). It improved slightly while taking Septra DS for 4 weeks. I month following the initial encounter I had sex (unprotected oral and vaginal) with the same woman for three days in a row. 5 days later I developed severe urethritis symptoms with frequency and pain on the penile tip when urinating. I had.
Avatar f tn The amount fluid intake by you is appropriate. Coming to nocturia it can occur due to a variety of conditions like diabetes, prostatic hyperplasia etc. It would be better you get a check of blood sugars. Cramps in the calfs can occur due to dehydration, over exertion of muscles, alcohol, due to some drugs etc. I think that cramps in the calf could be due to dehydration, but nocturia should be evaluated. Get a check of your blood sugars and take the opinion of your physician. Take care.
Avatar n tn Chronic insomnia is more common in the elderly and can be caused by psychiatric disorders, such as conditioned insomnia, alcohol and substance abuse, depression and anxiety, chronic pain, nocturia, and many medical disorders such as congestive heart failure, hyperthyroidism, rheumatologic diseases, dementia, Parkinson's disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Avatar m tn After further reflection, we remembered that we went on the GAPS diet for several weeks at about the same time. And she was feeling not a good. She was having nocturia and feeling tired & weak in the mornings. After discussions with you guys, prayer and much thought; here is what I think happened. The GAPS diet is heavily meat and little to no carbs. I think that her absorption of her Nature-throid(NT) was reduced by the meat diet.
Avatar m tn frequent urination, urgency, cloudy urine with an unusual smell, and nocturia. At one point, I wet the bed. I had to strain to urinate at times, even when I had extreme urgency, and the urine would dribble out. Over time, most symptoms dissipated (especially the smelly/cloudy urine), but even now, 2.
Avatar m tn He was diagnosed with Recurrent Urethral Stricture in 2001 by his Urologist. He was on Tamsulosin and Darifenacin for a lot of years and was fine until Sept 2016. In Oct 2016, he felt pain (4 on a scale of 1 to 10) in his penis. At times, the pain was more on the tip of his penis than shaft. Other times, the pain was felt throughout the penis (shaft + tip). The Urine culture indicated the EColi bacteria and he was given antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I'm 29wks can't sleep to nocturia and my hips are killing me sleeping on my side's, body pillow helps somewhat.
Avatar m tn I have polyuria and nocturia, but my bladder is hypotonic (bladder capacity normal). I think I have mild diabetes insipidus. In tests my nocturnal urine volume was about 1.5 liters (up to 5 times of urination).

Avatar m tn Hello, Bed wetting at night is also called nocturia and since your son has started wetting the bed recently, so it can be due to excess intake of fluids at night, infection, constipation, caffeine intake, insufficient ADH production or diabetes. My suggestion would be to limit his fluid intake at night 1 hour before sleep and if the symptoms persist then get an evaluation done from a urologist. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn I am a 21 year old female and have had bladder issues (pressure, urgency, nocturia, urethra burning/squeezing feeling, difficulty urinating) for two years that won't go away and seemed to have begun after I became sexually active. At first, the doctors thought it was a UTI but the antibiotics stopped working after a while. I've been to numerous doctors (PCP, urologist, OBGYN, gastroenterologist, neurologist, chiropractor) and had many, many tests - yet no one can figure out the problem.
Avatar n tn We live couple of hours away from Mayo Clinic and were thinking about having my son to be seeing by an urologist there.. My husband also suffers from nocturia and perhaps this is a condition that might affect my son in the future?.. I am not sure about that. I will follow your guidelines and ask the pharmacist for a mild steroid cream. Thank you very much once again and have a good week!
Avatar m tn Hi, You need to consult a physician and rule out some of the common causes of nocturia (night time urination). For e.g. Diabetes mellitus, a stone in the urinary tract, any enlargement of the prostate (which is less likely considering your young age). Also will suggest you to avoid drinking too many fluids around bedtime and particularly avoid drinking tea, coffee and beer around the bedtime.
Avatar f tn I am a 37 yr old female who has recently had symptoms that include SOB, severe fatigue, 4+ leg edema, low blood pressure(88/53), low heart rate in the 50's,nocturia and 2 episodes of syncope all in the last 2 months since my leg edema started. All my blood work was normal including kidney and thyroid function. My family physicain ordered an echo that showed Mild Tricuspid and Mitral regurg and Mild mitral valve thickening. Just wondering if this could be the cause of my symptoms?
Avatar m tn The cyst I have is definitely painful, but the urethra discomfort post urination and nocturia baffles me. Those symptoms come and go. my symptoms seem to align with interstitial cystitis. I'm desperate for answers.
Avatar f tn I'm a 20 year-old female. I recently went to a urologist and he thinks that I have like an after-effect of a recent UTI (which my gynecologist found back in September). My only symptom is dysuria. That's all I have...no frequency, urgency, nocturia, back pain, pelvic pain, and it doesn't hurt when I hold it, etc. I was prescribed prosed DS but it's not doing too well of a job. I've been advised to not drink or eat anything acidic.
Avatar m tn It's not all that unusual to have problems urinatring 1st thing in the morning - the little sphincter valve tends to clamp dpown poretty tight to hold the urine in & can take time to 'relax' enough to go. I had that problem & like you, it was fine later in the day. Dr. prescribed Flowmax, which helped a lot. In my case, it turned out later I did have prostate cancer, had surgery Jul 31 & doing OK now, no longer need the Flowmax. But my PSA was much higher than yours, 2.
Avatar f tn ve had frequent urination, especially at nighttime (nocturia) and this freaked me out about having Diabetes type 2. I have no dryness in the mouth or skin, no dizziness, no weakness or another diabetes-like symptom. I have heard that one have to be at least in pre-diabetic stage in order to have established DM type 2. Is it true? In my case, that I had normal glucose levels and no evidence of pre-diabetes 12 months ago, is it likely that my symptoms are due to established DM type 2?
Avatar m tn The cyst went down but the pain around the epdidymis persisted w/ no change. After 4 weeks of Vesicare I still have no change in my nocturia. I had an ultrasound of my bladder, testicles, kidneys all normal. I then had a cystoscopy done which showed no abnormalities besides a tight sphincter. My urologist told me to continue the Vesicare which I have been doing.

Avatar f tn t quit moving my feet, tremors, dry skin, lethargy, fatigue, muscle twitching, nocturia, muscle cramps, big stools, visual disturbances, dizziness etc.  Could I have a bad kidney infection and uremia, but it has alluded lab tests? I know Ccr can be deceiving with low muscle mass, and BUN can sometimes be deceptively low in similar situations. I feel like a terminally ill person and doctors can't find anything wrong with me. Am I screwed?
Avatar m tn Has now had several months of fairly abrupt onset urinary frequency, which translates into urge to urinate every 1/2 to 1 to 2 hours, and even includes occasional nocturia x1 which beforehand did not occur. No dysuria, no hematuria, no genital exam findings, no abuse hx, no signs/sx nor risk factors for UTI, Diabetes, STD, etc. Child thriving in every other way including psychological.
