Avatar n tn Check out the message boards on these 2 websites for CPAP related questions. The boards here are very active. I think I've read this problem on those boards before. www.cpaptalk.com www.apneasupport.
Avatar f tn With her being so early, she is in the NICU but she seems to be doing ok. Breathing on her own but has a CPAP to help a little. The biggest concern is that her blood sugar is staying low. With me being diabetic, she can't maintain her blood sugar. Other than that she is ok. She beautiful and perfect in every way. Continued prayers for healing so I can take her home soon. Thank you ladies for all the wonderful advice and support.
Avatar n tn Can breathing in excess moist air into the lungs by means of the cpap machine overload the lungs with moisture and cause problems?
Avatar m tn Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions Dr Hagan. I appreciate it. I use Refresh PM gel to control that dryness from my CPAP.
Avatar n tn Hi Bonniedee, Welcome to the forum. I think the jury is still out on that question. A while back someone was collecting information about the way we sleep (stomach, sides, back) and if we had cold hands and/or feet- etc. I can't remember who asked the questions though. This same person contacted another doctor: Dr. Stephan Park, he had something to say on the topic- but again, I don't believe the answer to your question has been decided yet.
Avatar f tn I currently have sleep apnea and have been on the cpap machine. Here is the real kicker when i wear the cpap i wake up and sneeze continuously plus nose is running and congested. Either i get a good night sleep and I am sick the whole next day or I am tired the next day and do not feel sick. All the dr's i have gone to don't seem to be doing anything. I recently went to strictly a sleep dr and they are changing my machine out to an auto machine which i will pick up today.
Avatar m tn Do UARS patients with nasal blockage find CPAP, BIPAP, or VPAP more comfortable (in general)? Are there any other tests I should be asking for? Thanks, C.
Avatar m tn His only medical history up to that point was that he developed migraine headaches a couple of years before the strokes, a history of peptic ulcer disease, and sleep apnea. He was using CPAP prior to the strokes without a problem. Since the strokes, the migraines are almost a daily occurrence (although he does take propranolol as a preventative med for them), he cannot tolerate the CPAP( we have had additional sleep studies and made changes to the CPAP without any improvement).
559187 tn?1330782856 Yo, Julie. Another "hose-nose" here - I've been using my CPAP (mine is much like a BiPAP with exhalation relief) since being diagnosed with OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) three years ago and I wouldn't consider sleeping without it!! CPAP has actually saved my life! I say this because I have had very scary experiences before I got CPAP where I'd wake up not breathing and not be able to start breathing again.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Is CPAP the mask worn at night, supposedly while asleep, that provides a slight increase in air pressure? I recall my brother-in-law using an air pump for sleeping - but he suffers from emphysema - not sleep apnea. was your apnea determined by a sleep study done in a clinic? I am thinking about buying a oxygen saturation tester, the type that clamps on the finger, to record my O2 levels during the night.
Avatar n tn I have sleep apnea and was using the cpap machine but used it only once cause i could not at all sleep with a mask on my mouth and I could not aford to pay for it. So I returned it ,but now i cant sleep and during the day at abut after 12 noon i feel really tires and headaches and very sleepy . So i take caffine pills everyday to stay awake. I know taking pills is no the answer and I should be using the machine. My question is is there any other way to cure my problem with out the machine.
Avatar m tn ve lived my life in a state of exhaustion, until use of my cpap machine, and that has often caused very bad seizures. Without my cpap machine, I don't think I'd be here making this post.
107693 tn?1252864443 I am having a hard time gettting use to the CPAP. I asked for the nose pillow when i got the results, thinking that i would like it better, It has been two weeks so i asked for the small mask. I was also told that i need to use CPAP with the water. When i wake up I find the need to take it off, then when i go to put it back I get very anxious, palpitations or it feels that my heart is racing. So i sleep without it. I have thyrothis with six nodules. had a FNA results were negative.
Avatar m tn Now I am left with stuffiness and a sweet smell in my sinuses. I do use CPAP at nite with a humidifier. I keep it clean but am wondering if I could have Pseudomonas in my sinus. My drainage is clear.
Avatar m tn Treatment plan is to determine the extent to which the CPAP reduces my lung pressure (am told that CPAP can possibly reduce my pressure to normal levels - is this correct and if so, what is the likelihood and appropriate time to allow this treatment to work?); then start calcium channel blockers, if advisable, after determining efficacy of CPAP 4.
Avatar f tn Hi Sarah here is a link that I hope will help you out or at least put you in the right direction http://www.pparx.
Avatar f tn I have used my CPAP for some time now. I have never received the lift I here so much about. any ideas?
Avatar m tn I think you have to use a chin stap with a cpap?? or can she use it alone just to see if it helps. Were willing to try anything....

Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with a doctor. Avatar f tn Thank you all for your wishes and prayers! It has been a rough couple of days as Oliver is struggling to breathe on his own and last nught we ended up being transferred to the university hospital instead so he can be seen by a specialist. They are now saying he will habe to stay in the hospital for 3-7 weeks deoendung on how he is doing. I am an emotional wreck after all this back and forth and almost passed out while sitting by his side yesterday.
1233322 tn?1270383893 Is there a way to add stuff to trackers? For instance, for the headache tracker, the med I take isn't one of the med's listed and the sleep tracker doesn't include a checkbox for cpap, which would be a way more common thing to do or not do than a sleep study, which is one of the choices.
