Common Questions and Answers about Cozaar medication

cozaar

Avatar n tn Cozaar is what my husband is taking for regular heart rate due to a past heart attack. However, it has side effects of chronic lack of energy and the big one of erectile dysfunction. What are some other alternatives?
Avatar n tn Cozaar is a medication used for high blood pressure. Amiloretic is a diuretic. Your doctor prescribed these to you for a reason and you should not stop taking either of these medications unless your doctor directs you to. The reason why your feet ankles are now swollen is because you have stopped taking the Amiloretic. And the reason for your headaches is because you have stopped taking the Cozaar. The headaches are likely to be because your blood pressure is now too high again.
Avatar m tn I opted for the RAI (3 months ago) and I take cozaar (6 months now) and in these last 3 weeks I am suffering from muscle fatigue, muscle cramps if I stretch them too quickly or exercise them. Could the cozaar be causing the problem or is the disease the problem or both?
Avatar m tn My BP runs about 140/90 without medication. I am not overweight (BMI of 22, age 57). My GP put me on Lisinopril last year but switched me to Losartan after the Lisinopril failed to help. The Losartan brought my BP down a lot with a 50 mg daily dose. I was down to 110/70 and even 100/65 at times. I even got light-headed when I stood up quickly. The GP said this was normal and good. He likes my BP to be well below 120/80. So far so good.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your question was accidentally posted on the bird forum. I didn't notice your question posted on the heart disease forum which may be the best place to ask. Both medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists which will relax the blood vessels and lower BP. As to which will work best for you, that's up to your cardiologist. It's not unusual to try one medication to manage CHF only to find it's not doing as well as expected, then try another med.
Avatar n tn Can you go have the Cozaar filled at another pharmacy?
1198633 tn?1341182388 Hi, its unlikely that coreg withdrawal can cause your palpitations. Cozaar can cause dizziness or lightheadedness may occur as your body adjusts to the medication. It is also known to cause palpitations. So, if your symptoms are troublesome, consult your doctor he may change the dosage or medication. Regards.
Avatar m tn I think after this month, that will be 3 months on losartin(cozaar), I will see how my blood work is then add vasotec to the cozaar wait 3 months check my blood work and make a decision on dropping cozaar for vasotec. It was first published as far as I can see that losartan reduces fibrosis in 2000, that sure seems much to long a time lag between discovery and clinical use and I'm sure it is that way across medicine.
1008841 tn?1293598960 If you have high blood pressure then ask your doctor to put you on losartan (Cozaar) Not sure what a doctor would do without high BP. You could search clinicaltrials.

Avatar n tn My MD put me on Hyzaar for hypertension. Previously I had been on Cozaar but she changed it to Hyzaar for the added benefit of the diuretic. I noticed my drug company autosubbed generic Losortan. The bottle doesn't say anything about hydrochlorothiazide being included. Could I be getting the wrong thing, or should I assume some form of hydrochlorothiazide is included?
Avatar f tn s advocate, I want to be armed with good information before we talk to his primary. He presently is not taking the Cozaar or Plavix and I am worried.
Avatar n tn There are studies going on at Johns Hopkins concerning cozaar to see if it can stop or reverse the growth of aortas, which it has done in mice. My son has taken Cozaar and his beta blocker for three years and his aorta has not grown wider...so this is good news!
Avatar m tn t cleared up with some stool softeners/laxatives it would be smart to see your doctor to find out if your thyroid medication or anything else needs to be changed.

1246614 tn?1268684275 I had mine repaired 7 years ago and a couple of years ago I started having shortness of breath, dull pain in my heart and now my left ventricle is slightly enlarged. I just started on cozaar, that is the only medicine I am on. My cardiologist seems to feel the time is coming soon, probably in the next 6-12 months. Any thoughts on the subject.
Avatar f tn Just wanted to know if losartan(Cozaar) is the best option for an alcoholic with gout and high blood pressure? Of course, the best scenario would be to completely delete alcohol out of the equation, but it is not an option at this time for the person involved.
1398923 tn?1283120308 I have taken medication for high blood pressure since I was in my late 30s, gradually increasing it over time. Until late April, I was taking Lopressor (Metoprolol) 100 mg, Cozaar 100 mg and wearing a Catapres (Clonodine) 1mg patch. My blood pressure was well controlled and usually in the 120.70 range +/-. Suddenly it dropped very low. I am currently off all medications and am having trouble keeping it above 9040.
Avatar n tn I tried to talk to my husbands P.A. about Losartan (Cozaar) and she just kind of blew me off. If we actually got to see the Dr., he would probably discuss it with us but she doesn't even want to hear about it. Joe has esophageal varicies and Nadolol is what they think is best. I read a study that showed an increase in platelets and albumin levels and subjects with liver disease. I will be watching the news on this.
Avatar n tn After five days I was sent home still in A-fib. Ten days later I was put on Cozaar , Coumadin and Digoxin. That night my heart self-converted. Is it common for A-fib to self-convert after being in constant A-fib tachycardia for 15 days? What are the odds of me going back into A-fib? This was my first time with A-fib. And I have been in sinus rhythm for 3 1/2 months, with a normal heart rate. I am F 55 not overweight, non smoker.
