Coreg weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg weight loss

coreg

Avatar f tn Can you please tell me why I am not succeeding in losing weight and or inches OR something else I might try to achieve my weight loss and lose a few inches or at least tighten up my flabby arms none of which have occured over the last 8 months. Do people with CHF have an impossible time losing weight or inches. Am I ever going to see even the slightest little bit of results ?
Avatar n tn I had a minor heart attack in August 2008 and I had 5 stents put in. I was started on coreg 6.25 two tmes per day. The dr recently reduced me to 3.125 because of weight gain. I am still gaining weight. I decided to stop it altogether and did not tell my dr. My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
Avatar f tn I also told him I was on Jenny Craig for losing weight (and have lost 15 pounds) - he still put me on Coreg CR which is impeding my weight loss. I understand my heart is more important - but I went on a weight loss management to help my heart. I'm just at a loss as to follow through with this dr that acted unprofessionally or start over - my mother recommends another guy in the practice - or can I now see my family physician for blood pressure meds? Seeking guidance.
Avatar n tn I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Coreg can make a person feel extremely tired and loss of energy. Coreg is the best beta blocker as it blocks more receptors than Tropol XL. There is a medication that is being used in Europe that hopefully will be here in the US soon. It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states.
Avatar f tn Well, first of all weight loss would be a great help to all of the issues he has as well as a low salt diet. There is also a drug called carvedilol (Coreg) that actually restructures the heart, it doesnt work for everyone but in my case a many others our hearts have returned to normal after having taken the meds for awhile. So have him talk to the Dr.s about that and see what they say. He should also be eligable for cardio rehab, which would be a good place to start for the exercise he needs.
Avatar f tn I too, was active (walking 6 miles a day), good diet, all you are, but developed a weight problem. I had all my meds evaluated for a side effect of weight gain, and none had this. I drastically changed my eating habits, and eat every 3 hours, small amounts of good stuff. I started doing this in Jan. and have lost 42 lbs.
214864 tn?1229715239 I have been taking 20 mg of Coreg CR (continuous release) and have gained a lot of weight in a short period of time. I am considering talking to my cardio and trying a switch to Bystolic. Both are the latest generation of beta blockers, and do more than the older beta blockers. Another thing that would help me is to know if Bystolic drains the energy from you like most beta blockers because of what they do.
343006 tn?1314446471 I got tired at first but my body adjusted quickly. It did increase my weight initially but the weight came off again. Coreg did indeed raise my EF out of the CHF range and I feel 100% better, so I had a completely different outcome. I would suggest you see if you can talk to a Cardiologist at a research hospital to see why BP drugs react so strangely with you. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I'm a 62 yr. old male. I also do distance running. I had double by-pass surgery last May. My main artery had 65% blockage and my EF was 30-35 at time. I also have asthma which I thought was my problem at time since my breathing was getting worse. My EF is now near 50. Should I still be experiencing shortness of breath from heart problem? Know my max heart rate when exercising should be around 165 for my age. Where should it be when I'm running or lifting weights?
Avatar n tn I'm writing you about this LBBB because you seem to know all about it. My girlfriend was diagnosed with it and has been prescribed coreg 3.125 twice a day. This med has caused her to go up in pants size from an 8 to now a 12. She's getting really upset over this and so I'm asking you if there is something else out there that does the same t hing as coreg but doesn't make a person gain weight? thanks for your time......
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
Avatar m tn The first time I went for a huge weight loss, my shape was changing, but my weight remained the same. That time I was losing fat and gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more. After about 8 weeks though the weight began to fall off and continued to for the next couple of months. It took 7 months to lose 40 pounds. The recent weight gain for me was only 10 or 15 pounds, but still I wanted it gone.
406399 tn?1201884300 iv been on it for 2yrs now and I dont like its effects at all. been to 2 doctors and they refused to take me off it ? or change it to another medication. I was put on this med for palpitations that come and go. and high blood pressure that wont drop down easy at times! my ekg tests over the years have been normal and had stress tests done , again normal ? why then toprol xl ?? as I was first on atenenlol and had less problems other than I couldnt sleep well.
Avatar f tn I have also noticed hair loss and fatigue has anyone else experienced hair loss and fatigue from taking this drug?
4237975 tn?1351595953 I have been taking plavix, aspirin, lisinopril, famotidineand coreg.(coreg for 3 months now)was on metoprolol.I do have a little more energy than I did.I had an ultrasound in sept.but won't know from Dr. until my next appt.in Dec.I did notice a lot of colors from the ultrasound. What do they mean?
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar n tn He admitted me overnight and They did a stress test with an echo, they also did 3 blood tests to check to see if i had a heart attack. Everything was fine and he switched me to Coreg. The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems.
Avatar f tn Are you weighing yourself daily and recording your weight? If your weight changes every day, you need to notify your doctor (your doctor may need to adjust your Bumex dosage). Make sure that you are eating healthy (eating mostly fresh vegetables). Your blood pressure is good, not that low. You seem to be taking good care of yourself! Take care.
Avatar n tn Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.
Avatar m tn My medication was an ACE inhiitor and coreg (coreg is a dual mechanism with ACE inhibitor and beta blocker properities and helps dilate vessels and stabilize heart rate). Dilated cardiomyopathy is an enlargement of the left ventricle, and an enlarged LV can cause arrhythmia (irregular heat rate), and an enlarged LV decreases pumping strength (low EF).
Avatar m tn I will come off effient eventually and stay on a low dose aspirin. No problem. I would like to minimize the coreg and statin. The diet I am on is helpful for Nitric oxide and for endothelial health as well as providing some level natural ACE inhibition, and platelet aggregation inhibition, and is high in natural anti-oxidants. So, what will staying on 6.25 mg coreg and 10 mg pravastatin do for me in the long run?
Avatar m tn He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!
Avatar n tn This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.
Avatar n tn Try cutting back, and it is not unusual for the heartrate not to increase very high with exercise. I believe you asked about another beta blocker as a substitute for coreg. Coreg as a dual mechanism as it also has an ACE inhibitor effects that helps dilate vessels. It is highly recommended for heart patients. Take care.
