Avatar f tn Hi, All beta blockers are known to result in some degree of erectile dysfunction in males & decreased libido in females. However, nebivolol is one beta blocker which has got vasodilatory properties & hence can be one of the alternatives of carvedilol. However, you can continue taking lisinopril. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
579123 tn?1217791074 Hi, My father had CABG last October. He had 4 bypasses. He has a def/pacemaker already in place. Had an arteriogram in January '08 everything was fine. The last 3-4 weeks he has had some shortness of breath, sweating spells, and what he called a lil tight in the chest. Went to the Dr., scheduled another arteriogram, for last Monday. Finding was 3 of the 4 bypasses were working well. One of them had 'formed scar tissue' inside the artery itself. The Dr.
Avatar m tn I would like to have kids but I am so scared that I may have a child with birth defects because of the medication I take. I take Coreg, Furosemide And Lisinopril. I am so afraid that the medication I take may cause a birth defect if I have a child. Does anyone anything about these medications and what they might do or not do, when trying to have children. Is there anything I need to do or be aware of. Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn I was on coreg when I was in the hospital and was discharged. I was on coreg for 2 months and then my Cardiologist took me off it. He tried Lisinopril while I was in the hospital however the combo of HCTZ and Coreg and the Ace inhib was causing me to feel dizzy and ill. Now it has been 8 months after my hospitalization and they are trying Lisinopril again. I am up to 5mg and my BP is 90/60 , I feel a little off balance.
Avatar f tn If you have time to shed a little light on this, I would appreciate it. After two weeks on Coreg and just a small decrease in BP, I took 20mg Benicar this morning (10mg four hours apart), and my BP went down to 98/60 (normal for me). My headache all but vanished, and I feel limp as a dishrag. Why did Coreg not hit the mark, while little-known Benicar did? Is this an indicator of the cause of my high BP and headaches? Thank you.
Avatar n tn Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.
Avatar n tn My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
406412 tn?1217438384 Hi Bob_27, I have heard that Coreg often leads to an increase in the heart's ejection fraction. It seems that stopping the medication would probably be counterproductive. I know that one of our members, Kenkeith, is very familiar with this medication. If he doesn't have a chance to see you post, you might want to send him a "note" or a private message. I'll be he can give you more information.
Avatar n tn I was previously on 12.5 mg of Coreg 2X a day for high blood pressure. I am also taking 10mg of Lexapro a day for anxiety. This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it?
Avatar m tn Thanks, I mis-spoke in that I am take 25mg of the Coreg twice a day! He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!
Avatar f tn 125mg twice daily of Coreg in order to get both on board. If this is a new finding (the EF of 20-25%), I would probably recheck this in 3 months on the combination of Lisinopril and Coreg to see if it is better (there are definitely cases where it gets better). The heart function should not get any worse but your a.fib needs to be controlled because if it is always between 118-130 then this could be contributing to your low EF. Hope this helps. Good Luck!
Avatar n tn Try cutting back, and it is not unusual for the heartrate not to increase very high with exercise. I believe you asked about another beta blocker as a substitute for coreg. Coreg as a dual mechanism as it also has an ACE inhibitor effects that helps dilate vessels. It is highly recommended for heart patients. Take care.
Avatar f tn Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
Avatar n tn ve been taking it for almost 3 years and if I miss one dose i go into an MI and land in the hospital where they tell me my heart is still getting weaker, so I think Coreg gets more credit than it deserves.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on 30mg of Coreg (time release) that I take once in the morning. My fatigue has increased and my libido has dropped to zero. I have also gained 30 pounds since my quintuple CABG back in September 2007. I am also on Zocor, Aspirin and Niaspam. Can Coreg cause any of these symptoms? Also, my HDL has not improved since my surgery. I'm stuck in the high 20's. I feel a lack of motivation and rarely exercise. I'm worried about the HDL.
475570 tn?1280941363 I take coreg twice a day, but coreg cr is a slow release medication for once a day. The recommendation is 1 capsule each morning wih breakfast that will help lower blood pressure all day and all night.
Avatar n tn I just posted something similar under an old question, so thought I would make it a separate expanded post. I've been on coreg (50mg) since I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2006 (age 54). I've seen doctors from UT Southwest to the Cleveland Clinic. My ejection fraction has been measured from mid 20s to mid 40s. The latest heart cath put it at 30%, the most recent echo put it at 36%.
Avatar f tn he has an AICD due to syncopal events in the beginning of his treatment. In his youth, he was a trained athlete/ distance runner. He has always had very low heart rate and BP, however recently his physician has request him to start taking Coreg CR to help reduce cardiac workload. Our concern is that he already is bradycardic and the effects may worsen this symptom. Is this a routine or normal thing to do? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
475570 tn?1280941363 It seems logical to take the medication with the morning meal. I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.
Avatar m tn 25 once aday 5 months ago ihad echo done and stress test stress test ok echo came back 40 ef cardioligest recomeded muga ins said 4months from echo i could have muga muga came back 31 doc said i need icd i asked what about coreg doc said didnt think would help i said how about another echo and i will increase coreg back to25mg 2xaday i feal fine idid increase coreg do ya think it will rase ef
Avatar n tn Dilated cardiomyopathy often is the result of an overworked heart. The medication (coreg and lisonpril) reduces the heart workload resulting in reverse remodeling of the heart and increased EF (ejection fraction of blood pumped with each heartbeat). Six years ago I had enlarged (remodeled) left ventricle and an EF 19-29% and hospitalized for heart failure...no symptoms until CHF...thought I was very healthy, and shocked to hear I had had a silent heart attack).
Avatar f tn The Dr. thinks it was probably caused by pregnancy. She has no symptoms of CHF and was having some palpitations with dizziness (maybe once a week) which prompted EKG and later echo. She started Coreg (working her dose up) and Dig. First question is she is having a cath done next week is this standard? Next she is supposed to follow up with electrophysiologist and CHF clinic. Will they hold off on ICD or PM to see if EF increases or is it something they do early in the process?
792040 tn?1237582438 Thank You so much for responding. I am still awake and still a-flutter. I just don't understand why this Dr. had to tell me I was alive basically, on a ...hour to hour basis, so to speak. I take other meds, just 2 and still have to check if there are adverse affects. Did take one Coreg, though. Xanax, which I've taken for years in a very low dose and Hydrocodone, but just when I am in a Flair. Dr. didn't seem to be concerned.
Avatar n tn I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
