Coreg for pvcs

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg for pvcs

coreg

Avatar m tn My cardiologist gave me Coreg to take if the PVCs got to hard to hanlde (all my tests were benign). I think I need to try. Just looking for any experience - reduce PVCs or the sensations, side effects, etc. Thanks.
Avatar m tn Usually, medications (ie the coreg and others) are able to sufficiently suppress the PVCs to levels that are tolerable. In others, the PVCs are either so plentiful that quality of life is impaired or in rare instances when there is concern that they are worsening heart function, an ablation is recommended. With an ablation, you would receive sedation and likely spend one night in the hospital.
Avatar m tn My cardio has put me on coreg and has plans to do a cardio ablation next year. Should I be very concerned and should I have more extensive treatment?
Avatar f tn ok they say I have PVCs i have no clue!!!! I stopped the tiazac after about 7 days and my blood pressure has gone lower than when i was on it and i am still very dizzy.........heart rate is in the 70s to 100s..My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused.
Avatar m tn ed34, That is encouraging. Mostly, I think the concern was that it made that jump within seconds. My cardiologist thinks it only nerves as the nuclear revealed that my heart is "perfectly normal" in his words. Plus it really freaks me out. On the other hand, I decided to try the 10mg Coreg CR and it is not working. My blood pressure has gone from an average of 118/75 to an average of 130/80. Admittedly, that's still not bad, but it is kind of odd that it increased.
Avatar f tn My electrophysiolgist/cardiologist prescribed Coreg and Lisinopril for my condition. I have episodes of ventricular tachycardia, apparently brought on by a focal wall abnormality in my left ventricle. I also have atrial fibrillation. I have an ICD as well. When I mention to other doctors that I take these medications, they insist I must have high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and never have.
Avatar f tn Most common cause for dilated cardiomyopathy in young people is an infection. What does your doctor suspect?
Avatar f tn It's a very difficult thing to come to grips with. Many are in the same position as you. How many do you think you are having? Generally they will not treat unless you have an excess of them because sometimes treating them can make the situation worse. They can be hard to treat. Your best bet is to try and manage your triggers like caffeine, sugar and carbohydrates, stomach issues like acid reflux and stress. The worst thing you can do is dwell on them as that will make them worse.
Avatar n tn I am a 50 year old women with no previous health issues or family history of heart issues other than for the last 6 months I sporatically would experience shortness of breath. I have been dianosed through the normal testing on Jan 10, 2008 with Non Ischemic Cardiomyopathy, LV ejection fraction of 15-20%, severe hypokinesis to akinesis of the anteroseptal segments with overall severe left ventrile systolic dysfunction. No underlying coronary artery disease.
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
Avatar m tn After the did the first stent they told us it would only be a month on Plavix but after the last episode they decided that he needed to be on it for a year. He is also taking 2 blood pressure pills, Coreg, and Zocor. So I guess it just depends on your case and your doctor.
Avatar m tn What are you gonna do? I have been on Triamterene-37.5/HCTZ-25 for ~30 years and Metoprolol Succinate 25mg for about five years now. I have had no problems with diuretics except for dry mouth, but didn't like the Beta-blocker (shortness of breath during exercise, night sweats). My cardiologist weaned my off the Toprol XL over a two week period and put me on Norvasc (a Calcium channel blocker).
21064 tn?1309308733 For example, I am taking lisinopril for BP control and Inderal for PVCs. I would like to know more about cholesterol medications like lipitor, crestor and vytorin. THANKS!!!
Avatar m tn My son had total repair of TOF at the age of 3,5 years, he is now 23 years old and has started having PVCs his left EF has droped from 60% to 45% he has never had any problems with the left side of his heart until about 3 months ago. He lost about 17 pounds and I took him to a dr. that said his heart was fast so I took him to a heart dr. He does have pulmonary steiosis , pulmonary valve was not replaced. His doctor put him on coreg and just moved his dose up. he is now taking 6.
Avatar f tn one to notice my PACs and PVCs? I monitored my girlfriends heart rate for 5 minutes (feeling her pulse) and I found 6 PACs and probably 1 PVC. She didn't notice them and she is not worried. Worrying about palpitations will cause your subconcious mind to focus more on your heart, making you notice what you didn't notice before. You've probably had them all the time, but you are more aware of it now, causing them to be stronger and happen more often.
Avatar f tn I underwent a couple of procedures and once the PVCs were under control, the CM resolved. That said, there are a number of reasons for developing CM, including idiopathic (no known cause). Do you know your ejection fraction (EF)? It is the percentage of blood pumped from the left ventricle. Normal would be 55-70. At the time of my diagnosis, my EF was 40. My dad has CHF and his EF is in the 20s.
Avatar m tn are your symtoms permanent, day and night with no break? The answer is important to me because I can be fit and normal for half the day and sick and ill the rest and no doc shows any interest except in tests and pains in the heart. This discussion is related to <a href="/posts/Heart-Disease/Allergies-to-drugs-Betas--thyroid/show/2178823">Allergies to drugs. Betas, thyroid</a>.
Avatar m tn On my next cardio visit I may have to ask for a higher Coreg dose but scared about the tiredness and decrease in HR effects. My experience with Coreg is that you have to increase it very gradually and always do so with meals. It also causes me to dream a lot which in turn brings on palps and elevated systolic BP. Did you ever notice this side effect?
Avatar n tn This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
