coreg effects

I'm also not a physician, but because of your post I did a bit of reading about Coreg. It's medication used for controlling bp and also for treating heart failure. The prescribing info suggests talking with your doc if the patient is a child or diabetic. Seems important to run this by your endo, at a minimum (I can't tell from your post if you are the person with diabetes or if you're a parent/family member).

Is there any side effects between these three that can give me these headaches? I was fine until I was out on coreg.

I have been diagnosed with an ejection fraction of less than 35 and a severe cardiac arrhythmia ( 32000 pvc's per 24 hrs ). My cardiologist put me on Coreg and gradually worked me up to a dosage of 25 mg BID. The arrhythmia has dropped to 37 but I feel absolutely horrible since being on the Coreg. I am constantly dizzy and fatigued. The slightest effort requires that I stop and rest. I feel like I have no strength nor any ambition to do anything. I have also gained weight.

About a month ago my cardio had switched me to a new BB called Bystolic which did a better job in lowering my BP but had to go off it because of side effects. When I went back to Coreg at 6.125 my HR keeps at 70-80 and I also experience tiredness and can only attain a HR of 100 with execise. About 2 weeks ago I had to have my HR chemically speeded up because I could not walk on the threadmill long enough to complete a stress Echo.

I am only 6 ft and 170 lbs. and the dosage you take for coreg would probably cause side effects for me, but fortunately my present regimen of medication serves me well.

He has always had very low heart rate and BP, however recently his physician has request him to start taking Coreg CR to help reduce cardiac workload. Our concern is that he already is bradycardic and the effects may worsen this symptom. Is this a routine or normal thing to do? m not the doctor but I know exactly what you mean regarding the side effects from Coreg. I was put on it for a little over a year due to an aneurysm in my ascending aorta and the cardio wants my blood pressure kept very low. Like you, I am still lightheaded/off balance on occasion. I walk on a daily basis and even a brisk pace fails to get my heart rate out of the 70s. (Of course with the aneurysm I'm not supposed to get my heart rate very high.

If you do not want to suffer a heart attack or stroke, you need to take the Plavix and aspirin. also doctor said very few people have problems on this med Coreg ? I tend not to belive that, as im reading all the side effects listed !! there are meny ! and it reads far worse than other brands of beta blockers. Anyone tryed this stuff or is taking it ?? for the life of me, I find it hard to put myself in pain again ,and suffering with adverse side effects ! and cant figure why any Doctor in his or her right mind would perscribe such mediacations ?

I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.

I have extremely dry skin and am on a couple of blood pressure lowering drugs. I think this is perhaps more part of the aging process. I could be wrong though. As I have aged I have noticed my skin seems to be thinner as I cut so easily. And let's not start me up on the bruising.

The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better - I don't feel as exhausted, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Plus when I go walking I can't get my heart rate above 95 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol?

My cariologist wants my blood pressure less than 120/80, and as low as possible without side effects. The coreg with lisinopril does dilate the vessels and maintains heart rate stability, and if there is a side effect of lightheadedness, etc. the doctor would adjust or find the medication that is right for you. Your weak heart as indicated by lower than normal EF (amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat).

But I did not have high blood pressure, which can be dangerous if untreated. I had much less side effects on that Beta Blocker (the Coreg), but it's still a beta blocker. And even so, it might not be the best one for you. I think toprol, of all the betas probably has the most side effects. Keep pushing your docs, there are other beta blockers with less side effects.

Hi I was on Tiazac for about 6 ot 7 days and i skipped a few days of it,i have been feeling extremely dizzy and i saw my heart dr yesterday and he told me to stop the tiazac and he is puttting me on Coreg 6.

I am 60 yr old female. Had 2 drug eluding stents put in May 26 this year. Put on Coreg, Plavix and Lispinopril at discharge. After several days with shortness of breath cardiologist took me off Coreg. I have now been off for 6 days and I still have SOB except when sleeping.What else could be going on?? The office visit when he took me off Coreg also had a clean EKG, good BP all arteries pumping properly, good blood oxygen level. The SOB doesn't increase remarkably during low level exercise.

Any information about the long term effects of Coreg? I may be taking this stuff (I hope) for a very long time.

My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .

I was taking 100mg atenolol without food for hypertension but my glucose went up so my doctor switched me to Coreg 25mg twice a day. He said it does not matter if you take it with or without food. All i keep reading is to take with food....

I have recently (about 6 weeks) been prescribed the new Betablocker Bystolic at 5mg/day instead of Coreg 6.125mg. Initially it has slightly reduced my heart palpitations which are less forceful, stopped some irregular or PACs and cut out the dreaming side effect of Coreg. However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks.
