Coreg drug class

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg drug class

coreg

Avatar m tn Or maybe he could switch you to another drug in the same class. Some cardiac drugs do make you feel like a dishrag, truthfully. Maybe you could talk him into lowering the doses a tad, or get another opinion like Ireneo suggests.
Avatar n tn Did the operative report state that the damaged heart cells could be revived? Coreg is the drug of choice to revive those cells. Coreg is considered by some heart patients, me included as a wonder drug, Many, many people who take the drug have seen an increase in weight when it is administered, me included. However, it helped my heart health a great deal, the the weight gain was temporary.
Avatar f tn Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
Avatar m tn You would be at a high risk for worsening your heart problems if you get pregnant. I don't believe coreg is a category C drug meaning it hasn't been tested on pregnat humans but the fetus animal study doesn't look good. I had Peripartum Cardiomyopathy with my second child and had to stop breast feeding because of the coreg. even though I recovered completely without heart transplant I was told not to have anymore babies, because I may not be so lucky.
1293682 tn?1311956071 Age 38. Diagnosed a few months ago. Am on Coreg 40mg and Lisiopril 10 mg and waiting to see if meds work... then the next step is a pacemaker if meds dont work by 6mos. If I do have to get a pacemaker, will that include a defib too? I have non ischemic DCM and normal rythym as far as I know, but the risk of SCD makes me think a defib along with a pacemaker would be good. Hopefully I wont have to get one! its pretty scary. I already have RA, hypothyroidism, Fibro, Sjogrens...
Avatar n tn Could my regular docter give me a prescription for carvedidol substitution for coreg
Avatar m tn Dr took me off lisinopril due to dry cough about 6 weeks ago and upped coreg to 6.25 mg. cough resolved but I have been having early morning rapid heart beat (wakes me up) in recent weeks and my tinnitus has become much worse. My upper back pain which started while on drugs is also worse since the dosage went up.
Avatar n tn I do believe Coreg is a miracle drug. As much as I hate it, I love it. Ask your doctor if Ranexa will help you.

I tend not to belive that, as im reading all the side effects listed !! there are meny !
Avatar f tn He had a cath 9-11 at a different facility by a different heart group and he has been told that his heart is completely clean with no blockages. He has been on Coreg for the past 3 years and a statin drug for 1 year. Is it possible that he would show absolutely no coronary disease like this?
Avatar m tn May be there is an optimum dose of coreg for each person depending on his physical condition and the drug becomes most effective at this dose. You can try increasing gradually with your doctors advice and see if you get the desired results. Wish you good luck.
Avatar m tn I have had stents and I also have a ICD implant. My medications are coreg, zocor, plavix and a blood pressure med. In 2005 my EJ was 20 and for the past 2 years it has been in the low 40's. I realize everyone is different but is there any chance I should be doing something else to inc my EJ.
Avatar n tn Yes, I truly worry about the effects of western medicine on us poor HMO suckers. Fortunately I do know why my doctor prescribed Coreg and from research I've done on my own, I think it's the right drug for me...just never wanted to be on medication long term and am still mourning the loss of the life I thought I was going to have (by that I mean, super healthy, drug free with no physical limitations).
Avatar m tn ve always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg. Before heart problem was running 71/2 to 8 minute paces on miles now lucky to run 10 minute and don't seem to have much stamina or wind.
Avatar f tn I was weaned off of a much more potent beta blocker (Coreg) by cutting it in half, then again in half. I had no problem. I used a pill cutter which did a good job of splitting the drug, but the cuts weren't perfect. I think as long as you keep some of the drug in your system, you will be just fine.
Avatar f tn Metoprolol is a pretty basic Beta Blocker, there are much stronger beta blockers that will indeed take your blood pressure lower, like Coreg, but drugs of that class are very difficult to take. It's possible that you need to evaluated for a different medication or perhaps a pacemaker. I'd suggest Occupant asked a very good question based on your inquiry. Does it rise higher than65 bpm? I'm wondering if you have been checked for A-Fib. Keep us informed.
Avatar f tn I have a friend - male- 68 who had a heart attack ~ 6 years ago. He takes a beta blocker - Coreg. I've known him for 3 years. During that time, he's always had, but now it's getting worse, a slow pulse & low Blood Pressure. Last night it was 84/54 pulse - 52. and he was feeling dizzy. Called the Dr. who said to drink fluids & take something salty - like saltine crackers. I just read up on Coreg - - beta blocker, and on low blood pressure.
Avatar f tn My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused. This dizziness is scaring me i feel kinda confused and like i havwe been hit in the chest hard but i havent. The cardolgist says my heart is fine and its mainly my anxiety.Has anyone had such bad dizziness before. The pahrmaisist says my body needs to adjust to getting off the tiazac...
Avatar m tn I will come off effient eventually and stay on a low dose aspirin. No problem. I would like to minimize the coreg and statin. The diet I am on is helpful for Nitric oxide and for endothelial health as well as providing some level natural ACE inhibition, and platelet aggregation inhibition, and is high in natural anti-oxidants. So, what will staying on 6.25 mg coreg and 10 mg pravastatin do for me in the long run?
Avatar f tn This drug is also known under the brand name of Coreg...it is a beta blocker used to treat hypertension among other things. How high is your heart rate?
