Common Questions and Answers about Coreg and shortness of breath

coreg

Avatar n tn Hello derrell pitts, I have to tell you that I am not a medical professional. I am a volunteer. My son was diagnosed with type 1 6-1/2 yrs. ago at the age of 3. My sister wad diagnosed 8 yrs. ago at the age of 24. She also has type 1. To be completely honest with you, I have not heard of this medication. Since I am unfamiliar with this type of medication and effects, I do not want to give an "opinion" based on my findings from the search engines.
Avatar f tn I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
Avatar f tn After 4 days at home I noticed I had shortness of breath almost all the time when I was awake. Dr decided to take me off Coreg to see if that helped. It is now 5 days off the Coreg. The SOB is still with me all the time. Any thoughts. I did not have any shortness of breath before the stents were put in.
Avatar f tn Now I can get to the end of the street (probably 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile) and I have shortness of breath. Is this just in my head? Can I go further? Hate to be a "fraiddy cat" about exercising now. Should I push myself or is it too soon. Cardiologist won't let me go to work until June 7 That will be 12 days after procedure. Would love some input from someone with experience.
Avatar f tn Put on Coreg, Plavix and Lispinopril at discharge. After several days with shortness of breath cardiologist took me off Coreg. I have now been off for 6 days and I still have SOB except when sleeping. What else could be going on?? The office visit when he took me off Coreg also had a clean EKG, good BP all arteries pumping properly, good blood oxygen level. The SOB doesn't increase remarkably during low level exercise. That is all I have done so far. Think I am a little affraid.
579123 tn?1217791074 The last 3-4 weeks he has had some shortness of breath, sweating spells, and what he called a lil tight in the chest. Went to the Dr., scheduled another arteriogram, for last Monday. Finding was 3 of the 4 bypasses were working well. One of them had 'formed scar tissue' inside the artery itself. The Dr. tried 3 times to 'balloon' it which failed. He chose NOT to stent the bypass due to being a large area, he stated it would take AT least 4 stents.
Avatar n tn s approval, I doubt there would be approval, but if your husband is foolish enough, then watch for any swollen legs, dry cough from lung edema, shortness of breath, faster heart rate, fatigue, and possibly chest pain...and possibly a high risk of cardiac arrest.
Avatar f tn Went home with coreg, lisipronil and plavix all new. Had shortness of breath for next several days and doc took me off Coreg this past Tuesday. I still have shortness of breath most of the day (none at night while sleeping) and I have noticed an almost constant runny nose.Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas?
1198633 tn?1341182388 ve just been a but sensitive to physical activity as my heart rate will go up to about 100 bpm walking around and having a bit of shortness of breath on and off. The pounding though has got so bad that I can't sit still as it cause my head to bob when completely still and even at times my upper body to sway. If I stand perfectly still my body sways to my heartbeat. I've also had Anxiety issues for about 10 years so I don't know if some of this could be contributed to that.
Avatar m tn Should I still be experiencing shortness of breath from heart problem? Know my max heart rate when exercising should be around 165 for my age. Where should it be when I'm running or lifting weights? Or is it safe for me to try and do distance running and weight lifting? I've always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg.
Avatar f tn Hi I was on Tiazac for about 6 ot 7 days and i skipped a few days of it,i have been feeling extremely dizzy and i saw my heart dr yesterday and he told me to stop the tiazac and he is puttting me on Coreg 6.
Avatar m tn This drug works with other heart medications such as Coreg to maximize amount of oxygen the heart muscle can assimulate, but it doesn't take the place of stents or bypass surgery. Ranexa won't open up the heart arteries. Are you scheduled for a catherization?
Avatar f tn Normal EF is 55 to 75% and is the amount of blood pumped into circulation with each heartbeat. When the EF gets below 30%, that may indicate heart failure as that may not be enough blood/oxygen to meet the system's demand. This condition will cause shortness of breath, fatigue, etc. Many people live a productive life without much limitation in daily living with an EF in the 40's.
Avatar m tn The main problem is I have every side-effect from the Coreg. (dizziness, headache, nausea, light headed ness and worst of all I have developed ED because of the meds.) My Cardiologist wants to double my Coreg dosage to 6mg twice daily. I barely function now as it is, I've been on them for a month. I feel HORRIBLE!! My cardiologist say to dump all the supplements and only take the Meds. She doesent want to change the current treatment of meds. I'm now seeking a second opinion.
1274110 tn?1270788561 Had a double bypass 9 years later. Had to quit work in 2004 because of severe angina and shortness of breath. EF of 40. Was on 60mg of Imdur 2 times a day and nitro patch. Doing EECP every 6 months to keep angina tolerable. I am a I have been taking 1000 MG of Ranexa twice a day for about 6 weeks. I came off of Imdur 60 mg twice a day and a nitro patch. It was working but now I get real bad heartburn and my GERD (acid reflux) is back. Has any one had a similar experience?
1293682 tn?1311956071 I told my cardio doc the other day about an episode of shortness of breath while exercising and he asked if I had any dizziness, etc... and I said yes... for sure... and felt that my legs were not getting any O2. He is ordering a monitor for me to wear for a week and said I might have to get a defib early if it indicates for one. I have worn a Holter M. for 24 hours before but a week will be a pain. He said it was slightly different from the Holter. What a pain.
Avatar m tn I have experienced BP readings of 50/30, and felt shortness of breath and extreme weakness, mostly caused by the low BP. However, 60/40, and I feel great, so it's a balancing act, at best. JFYI...if you begin to feel like you can't take a breath, get to the nearest ER, ASAP. They will be able to give you a breathing treatment, such as Albuterol, and clear you lungs in a very short time.
1270609 tn?1272403546 I have had CHF and I didn't feel ill...had a dry cough, and shortness of breath and admitted to ICU...shocked to hear I had CHF! . When the heart pumps into circulation less than 29% (heart failure range) of the blood received from the lungs, the cardiac output may be insufficient to provide adequate blood/oxygen to the heart and other vital organs. The system compensates by increasing the heart rate, respiration, etc.
Avatar f tn i am 55 years old and have made some minor changes in what i do because of shortness of breath, etc. but i feel that if i cannot live the way that i want to and do the things that i wish to do, then what is the purpose? maybe live a little bit longer and be miserable? up until today when i had my pacer interrogated, i have been able to fight any amount of depression or woe is me out of my life. i think reality has just begun to sink in.
Avatar n tn I am a 50 year old women with no previous health issues or family history of heart issues other than for the last 6 months I sporatically would experience shortness of breath. I have been dianosed through the normal testing on Jan 10, 2008 with Non Ischemic Cardiomyopathy, LV ejection fraction of 15-20%, severe hypokinesis to akinesis of the anteroseptal segments with overall severe left ventrile systolic dysfunction. No underlying coronary artery disease.
Avatar n tn I had severe shortness of breath and other symptoms due to severe bradypnea. At my worst, breathing dropped down to 6 breaths a minute. Bradypnea is my worst symptom of hypothyroidism. Bradypnea can lead to hypoxemia (low oxygen) and hypercapnia (high carbon dioxide). I had a false normal pulse oximeter (a sensor device placed on the fingertip) reading due to high carbon dioxide in the blood. Excerpt from Respiratory function in thyroid disease...
Avatar f tn yes, shortness of breath especially walking up stairs... drink atleast a gallon of water per day...
Avatar f tn I have had the edema on and off, and my Endo used to check my ankles when I had an office visit, so with Hashi's it is common, although I have not had shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn I know anxiety can cause shortness of breath, but in my later pregnancy I got shortness of breath all the time!
Avatar n tn Shortness of breath should always be checked out. It is entirely possible it could be that his stented areas are blocking again or new blockages are forming. I'd suggest he go his health profressional asap.
Avatar f tn Shortness of breath can happen for lots of reasons. Sometimes it can happen because a person is breathing too fast, called hyperventillation. This can happen when people have panic attacks, and are very worried or anxious. Sometimes people also have tingly fingers when this happens. Sometimes shortness of breath can also be from serious medical problems.
